In an informal conversation with journalists, he said that strict action would be taken against Afghan nationals residing in the country illegally. Those who were deported from Pakistan would be blacklisted to prevent their re-entry into the country again, he said.
Naqvi further said that Iran deported over 300,000 Afghan refugees within just 10 days. Pakistan is now undertaking effective measures along similar lines, he said.

While acknowledging Afghanistan as a 'brotherly Islamic country' Naqvi clarified that no foreign national would be allowed to stay in Pakistan without legal documentation.
He emphasised that ongoing discussions between the two countries continue on various matters, but illegal residency would no longer be tolerated.
According to the government's new policy, the process of extending PoR cards has been officially halted. Authorities are now accelerating the phase-wise repatriation of Afghan refugees.
To a question, Naqvi denied any ongoing backdoor diplomacy with India, asserting that no such talks have taken place behind the scenes.

Taliban to send envoys to Germany to work on deportations
BERLIN: The German government said Monday that Afghanistan's Taliban administration will send two envoys to Germany to help with deportations, days after 81 convicted Afghans were sent back to their homeland. The flight on Friday was the second from Germany since expulsions to Afghanistan were resumed last year. Germany does not recognise the Taliban authorities in Afghanistan but does have 'technical contacts' on the deportations, which have been facilitated by Qatar. Government spokesman Stefan Kornelius said that during the exchanges 'it has been agreed that two representatives of the Afghan administration will be incorporated' into Afghanistan's missions in Germany. Germany must honour visa obligations to Afghan refugees, rules court According to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) daily, the two envoys will work at the Afghan embassy in Berlin and at the country's consulate in the western city of Bonn. The Taliban authorities demanded this step in return for making last Friday's flight possible, the paper reported. The FAZ said that the names of the envoys had been sent to Berlin and that they had already worked in consular services and were not considered extremists. Germany stopped deportations to Afghanistan and closed its embassy in Kabul following the Taliban movement's return to power in 2021. However last year the last German government resumed expulsions with a flight in August carrying 28 Afghans. Current chancellor Friedrich Merz has vowed to continue deportations, having made a tougher line on immigration a key campaign theme in February's general election. Kornelius said that further flights were in the offing. 'The government has committed to systematic expulsions of those convicted of crimes and this will not be accomplished with just one flight,' he said.

Putin meets Khamenei's top adviser Larijani for nuclear talks
MOSCOW: Russian President Vladimir Putin held a surprise meeting with Ali Larijani, top adviser to Iran's supreme leader on nuclear issues, to discuss Tehran's nuclear programme in the Kremlin on Sunday. Moscow has a cordial relationship with Iran's clerical leadership and provides crucial backing for Tehran but did not swing forcefully behind its partner even after the United States joined Israel's massive bombing campaign on Iran in June. Larijani 'conveyed assessments of the escalating situation in the Middle East and around the Iranian nuclear programme', Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said of the unannounced meeting. Putin had expressed Russia's 'well-known positions on how to stabilize the situation in the region and on the political settlement of the Iranian nuclear programme', he added. Separately, a German diplomatic source told AFP on Sunday that Britain, France and Germany are planning to hold fresh talks with Iran on its nuclear programme in the coming days. Iran's Tasnim news agency also reported that Tehran had agreed to hold talks with the three European countries, citing an unnamed source. Last week, Russia had slammed a story by US news outlet Axios citing anonymous sources that said Putin had 'encouraged' Iran to accept a deal with the United States that would prevent the Islamic republic from enriching uranium. Iran has consistently denied seeking a nuclear weapon, while defending its 'legitimate rights' to the peaceful use of atomic energy.
