Minister for Energy Gottipati Ravi Kumar on Monday said that the State government has taken up several reforms in power sector including aloting ₹6,000 crore to resolve low-voltage problems and improve power supply in the State.
He along with Ongole MLA Damacharla Janardhana Rao and Prakasam District Collector A. Thameem Ansariya laid foundation stone for 33/11 KV electricity substation with ₹3.80 crore at Housing Board Colony in the city. He also inaugurated a 33/11 KV electricity substation constructed at a cost of ₹4.80 crore in Venkateswara Colony.
The Minister also participated in 'Suparipalana Lo Tholi Adugu–Intintiki Telugu Desam' programme in Ongole on Monday.
He launched Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) works amounting to ₹10.50 crore aimed at strengthening electricity infrastructure in the region. He assured farmers that the government would not install smart meters for agricultural connections in the State and clarified that the smart meters are being installed only for commercial and industrial purposes.
Dismissing false propaganda about high billing due to smart meters, the Minister said that any issues will be promptly addressed by the government. He claimed that the previous government had raised the power tariffs nine times, placing undue burden on the people and strongly criticised YSR Congress Party leaders involved in the liquor scam.
Mr. Ravi Kumar further said, 'Those who are responsible for manufacturing and distributing substandard liquor that endangered poor people's lives will face strict legal action. The law will take its course and ensure justice. A massive amount of public money was looted through transactions made without records. The masterminds behind this scam will not be able to escape.'

Highlighting past hardships, the MLA recalled how villagers once struggled for access to drinking water. He stated that today, clean drinking water is being supplied to every household. He further promised that water would soon be supplied twice a day and that steps would be taken in the future to ensure 24-hour uninterrupted water supply to the village.

Guntur: Guntur East MLA Md Naseer Ahmed along with Vemuru MLA Nakka Anand Babu visited various colonies in Ward-9 on Saturday and interacted with the local people. As part of the 'Suparipalanalo Tholi Adugu' a campaign, MLA Naseer Ahmed visited various colonies in Ward No 9. Local residents warmly welcomed the two MLAs and other TDP functionaries and expressed their gratitude for the allocation of for development of the colonies. The MLA Naseer said in one year new roads were laid at a cost of Rs 5 crore and been trying to implement the welfare schemes. He said efforts are on to ensure that the beneficiaries get welfare scheme. The MLAs personally enquired with residents whether government welfare schemes were reaching all eligible beneficiaries. The two MLAs criticised the previous government had neglected development and failed to provide basic amenities, causing hardship to the public in East segment. They said the coalition government under the leadership of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is moving ahead with a clear vision and that all colonies are now progressing rapidly as a result.

Anantapur MLA vows to develop Old Town Market

Anantapur Rural MLA Daggubati Venkateswara Prasad said the 45-year-old Old Town Market in the city will be developed on Private Public Partnership (PPP) model. The MLA alleged that the previous government had promised to develop the market but failed to do so. Mr. Venkateswara Prasad, along with party election observer Somisetty Venkateswarlu, participated in the 'Suparipalanalo Tholi Adugu' programme in 12th division of the city. The MLA, who toured the 12th division and interacted with the residents at their doorstep, said they were getting arousing welcome from the people. 'The people say it is for the first time that an elected representative has come to their doorstep,' he said. Mr. Venkateswara Prasad said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is fulfilling all the electoral promises, and in just one year, the State received investments worth ₹9.50 lakh crore, which would generate 8.50 lakh jobs. Accusing former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy of derailing the State's development through his three-capital proposal, he said Mr. Naidu is developing Amaravati. 'We are constructing CC roads and drains on a large scale, and we will also clear garbage from the landfill by October 2,' he said. Mr. Somisetty Venkateswarlu said the MLA had been striving for the development of the people of his constituency.
