How friendship shapes expression, energy and the bonds we create
Moments shared with friends often become the most vivid. A late-night drive, an unplanned trip, a shared song, or a heartfelt talk, these are the things that stay long after the moment has passed. That's why friendship remains one of the most universal and lasting sources of inspiration.Today, more than ever, people are returning to what's real. In every corner of life, there's a growing value placed on honesty, connection, and the kind of friendship that doesn't need to be explained, just felt.In a world that often moves too fast, it's the moments of genuine connection that leave a lasting impact. Whether it's a shared laugh, an unspoken understanding, or simply showing up for each other, friendship has a quiet power to transform the ordinary into something meaningful. In light of that, India Today spoke with KING, an artist who recently took part in the House of McDowell's Soda Yaari Jam in the Sky an exclusive jam session hosted mid-air on a private charter flight. The one-of-a-kind experience brought together artists and creators to celebrate friendship and shared energy in a truly unforgettable setting. In a candid conversation, KING reflected on how real connections have shaped his journey, the influence of meaningful bonds, and why yaari continues to be a powerful force on and off the stage.KING believes that music hits hardest when it's based on real-life moments, not manufactured ideas.'Whatever I write comes from my own life. "That's what shapes my music,' KING said.'And I think that's why listeners connect with it, because it's real.'Rather than chasing trends, KING allows his personal journey, including his friendships, to guide his sound and message.POSITIVE ENERGY MATTERS IN THE CREATIVE PROCESSFor KING, creativity is deeply tied to the vibes and energy of the people around him.'We're all moving on a certain frequency, shaped by the people and energy around us whether it's yaari, relationships, or work,' he shared. He believes that when you're surrounded by the right people, you naturally make better, more meaningful music.WORKING ALONE DOESN'T MEAN BEING ALONEadvertisementWhile KING has built his career as a solo artist, he values the rare moments when he gets to collaborate with others and just have fun with the process.'I've been running a solo career for the past 5–6 years, so when something like this comes along—where brotherhood and yaari take center stage—it's just incredible,' he said.He also mentioned how much he enjoyed stepping outside his usual solo space, especially while performing alongside other artists.'Getting to meet and vibe with others from the industry... made the whole experience even more special.'Whether you're making it or listening to it, music becomes more powerful when it's shared with friends.'Friendship is like breathing it's essential,' KING said simply.'Sure, you can enjoy music on your own, but when you're surrounded by your friends, the vibe completely changes.'Music isn't just about melody and lyrics it's about the moment and the people you share it with.Even in today's industry, where competition can often feel intense, KING still believes in the importance of authentic relationships.'Of course there's room for real yaari! 'Yeh dosti hum nahi chhodenge' still hits because it's built on that same emotion,' he noted.advertisementTrue connection, he says, has always value both in life and in the studio. One of the highlights from KING's performance was his joint track with Karma titled 'Goat Shit', a collaboration filled with high energy and mutual respect.'Goat Shit—that's the track we performed together, and honestly, it says it all,' KING smiled.'It's about being the best at what you do, and that's exactly how I see Karma always bringing his A-game.'Moments like these show that when friendship meets talent, the result is unforgettable music. In the end, friendship isn't just something we hold onto it's something that holds us together. Whether it shows up in quiet support, shared laughter, or moments of spontaneous connection, it reminds us of who we are and what truly matters. As life continues to move forward, it's these bonds authentic, unfiltered, and built on mutual respect that carry the greatest meaning. No matter the path we walk, having people by our side makes the journey richer, lighter, and far more unforgettable.- Ends

Exclusive: Actor Varun Badola says no one expected Saiyaara to be this big
While the world is gushing over newbies Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, actor Varun Badola's short yet impactful cameo left fans amazed, once again. The actor played Krish's (Panday) alcoholic father, and their emotional scenes had audiences in tears. Interestingly, Varun is set to play a similar role in his next TV show 'Itti Si Khushi', and the coincidence has even left him stumped. Speaking exclusively to India Today, the actor joked that maybe his stars are favouring alcohol this season. He also admitted that his TV show makers had no inkling ofa his film, and it all happened SUCCESS WAS ALL FATE'The Mohit Suri film has already crossed Rs 500 crore globally, and is still running to packed theatres. Though Varun Badola sheepishly confessed that he was yet to watch 'Saiyaara'. He revealed that during the premiere, he was unwell and then got busy with the shoot of his TV show. However, his family loved the film but also felt that he should have had more scenes.'Also discussing the success of the YRF-backed project, the actor said, "Honestly, I don't think anyone in the team had expected the film to do so well. It was made on a limited budget, don't think anyone predicted that it would earn multiple times that. There are no big stars leading it. It was all fate. I messaged Mohit that my family wanted a bigger role, so if you are making a sequel, make sure I have a meatier part. He replied that hopefully next time we will have a better budget." As for his limited scenes in the film, audiences were touched by all of them, especially the one where he breaks down in front of his son. While Varun Badola said that after so many years in the industry, he does have the confidence to pull off such intense scenes. He also shared that he always knew what he was signing up for, and while it was a small part, he wanted to be a part of a Yash Raj MYTHSVarun went on to further bust the belief that TV actors don't have a chance to be in a big-budget film. "It never is about the medium. Regardless of where you've worked, if you are good, you will get work. I mean, your reputation does matter, apart from other technicalities. However, I firmly believe that any television actor worth his or her salt would probably be slightly cheaper and also more adaptable. TV teaches you to think fast, find solutions, and also learn scripts easily. We are conditioned to operate faster. So it's always a win-win situation for the producers. So why would they not take TV actors?" he when asked about the particular scene, the actor said that it's funny how people are asking him about performing with Ahaan and Aneet at that moment. He laughed that he was enacting an inebriated man going through an emotional turmoil, who didn't have any sense about who was around him. He said, "I had to do that scene in complete isolation without thinking about who else was around."PRAISES AHAAN-ANEETadvertisementHowever, he did have some words of praise for both young actors, along with a word of caution. Stating that they have a wonderful career ahead, Varun Badola added that, however, it will also transpire according to the choices they made."Ahaan has a great screen presence and is a wonderful boy. Aneet is solid, especially the way she handled the soliloquies. To see a young actor with such a command over their language is wonderful. They had this success, but what happens next after Saiyaara wholly depends on the choices they make. As performers, they are already in a comfortable zone, but they are still kids. So I am not going to predict anything right now," he further discussed the madness that the film created among fans in theatres, with people dancing, crying, and just expressing their intense emotions. Sharing that he was shocked to see people taking their clothes off in excitement, Varun Badola wondered whether all of it was genuine. However, he shared that people did come to theatres, which the box office collections truly said, "If this could be planted, I think every film would do that then. People today use their personal money to promote themselves and their work. And here, these kids weren't allowed to leave the house. So that proves something, right? It was the film and not just the marketing that got it success."And while the world talks about how, post-Saiyaara, things may become easier for outsiders, the actor has his doubts. He mentioned that even in a small-budgeted film, someone from the film family did get a chance. "Aneet is an exception, but the girl is also talented. I don't think it's going to become really easy. But if you are talented, go out, shoot scenes and post them on social media. It's important that your work gets noticed."The actor's next TV show will launch on Sony SAB on August 18.- EndsMust Watch

Triptii Dimri's emotional scene from Dhadak 2 goes viral, fans say she's back
A scene of actor Tripti Dimri from her latest film 'Dhadak' went viral on Wednesday. The scene featured her character Vidhi responding to a casteist remark when a man accused her of dishonouring her family. Several social media users praised Dimri's strong responded to the comment by saying, 'Mujh par kyun hain ghar ki izzat? Mujhse poocha kisi ne?... Baal khule theek hain, ki baandh du? Izzat nahi jaani chahiye naa aap logo ki (Why does the honour of the house depend on me? Did anyone ask me? Is it okay if my hair is open, or should I tie it? Your honour should not be lost, right?)'advertisementWhen another character tries to calm her, she responds, 'Agar aapne kabhi thodi himmat dikha ke baat ki hoti naa, toh aaj mere baat karne ki naubat nahi aati (If you had shown some courage and spoken up, then it wouldn't have been necessary for me to talk).' One fan commented on Instagram, "She is a good actor, finally she's got a good script to deliver (sic)". A second user wrote, "Finally she is back. I loved her in qala, Bulbul, and Laila Majnu. She is always so good (sic)." A third user commented, "The last scream said everything (sic)."Featuring Triptii Dimri and Siddhant Chaturvedi in the lead roles, 'Dhadak 2' is a socially relevant love story. It is directed by Shazia Iqbal and backed by Dharma Productions. India Today gave a 3-star rating to 'Dhadak 2'. "The Shazia Iqbal-directed film attempts to tackle caste-based atrocities with courage, but not conviction. Unlike the original 'Pariyerum Perumal', it holds back from making the kind of sharp, fearless commentary the subject demands. What could have been a powerful political statement became a diluted narrative, seemingly softened to dodge censorship or controversy. The re-dubbed climax dialogues only add to the unease," read the film clashed with Ajay Devgn's 'Son of Sardaar 2' in theatres on August 1.- Ends
