Biscuit firm boss sacked after slapping Gemma Oaten's bum on stage at an awards - but says Emmerdale star 'gave him permission'
Steve Jones was standing next to the actress after volunteering to go up stage to accept an award at the International Safety Awards when he slapped her on the bottom.
But the then-head of Health, Safety, Environment and Security at McVitie's owner Pladis claimed it was not 'unwanted conduct'.
Jones claimed he had told the presenter he had slapped another well-known woman's bottom and she said 'go for it'.
An employment tribunal heard a colleague of his was upset by the incident after seeing a video of the slap and reported him, referring to the #metoo movement.
He was reported for 'physical conduct pertaining to sexual harassment' after a woman he worked with, who had been taking photos on her phone in 'live' mode, caught a clip of the incident.

He was fired after an investigation by his line manager found his actions were 'neither decent nor moral' but 'ill-judged, insensitive and in bad taste'.
The International Safety Awards, which took place at the InterContinental Hotel on Park Lane in London in June last year, was attended by hundreds of people including a professional photographer.
In a social media post on the day of the event, Ms Oaten - who was not named in the tribunal - said she had had a 'bloody good giggle'.
She said: 'So much fun to be with you all night & have a bloody good giggle too.
'I always try and deliver the right mix of the heart and deep stuff with the fun and naughtiness when hosting and delivering keynote... I think anyone there last night will agree there was plenty of both, especially the latter.'
Jones appealed against his sacking, and took it to a tribunal when his claim was dismissed - claiming the actress 'did not feel harassed, was not distressed, and made no complaint'.
He claimed that even Ms Oaten, who plays Rachel Breckle in Emmerdale, felt it was appropriate in the context of the evening and he hadn't meant to upset or offend anyone.
The central London tribunal found his colleagues had been upset by his conduct and he was fairly dismissed.
The Tribunal Judge Peer found: 'Having considered all of the evidence and in light of my findings above, I am satisfied that the claimant was made aware of the scope of the investigation and the purpose of the disciplinary hearing.
'I do not accept that he did not know what was at stake. I note that during the disciplinary hearing he did acknowledge that in hindsight the behaviour was not acceptable.'

'I mean, we know he passed from melanoma. They announced that.' 'We're assuming that it had metastasized,' Teddi's podcast host, Tamra Judge, said to her pal. 'I was wondering, when did it metastasize?,' Teddi wondered aloud, adding, 'like this is just where my head goes from being in the situation, did he decline treatment?' 'There's so many different ways that this could have happened,' she explained, adding, 'and like I have one million [percent] respect their choice to keep it private.' Tamra suggested the dedicated equestrian could reach out to Kelly for some more details to be shared privately. For Teddi, the death of Brandon Blackstock from melanoma has hit close to home. Mellencamp was diagnosed with melanoma in 2022. Teddi was first diagnosed with melanoma in 2022, but the disease has since spread to her brain and lungs. She revealed this past April that her cancer had progressed to stage four. Teddi has undergone 16 surgeries since her diagnosis, including the removal of four brain tumors. Nick Knowles' wife Katie has revealed her 'body feels completely foreign' as she shared a health update on Instagram on Wednesday after undergoing a hysterectomy. The lingerie business owner, 35 - who is newly married to television presenter Nick, 62 - underwent the procedure in July this year after 'surviving' years of 'pain'. Now, weeks later Katie revealed she still 'feels like absolute s***' and has 'gained a stone in six weeks' during her recovery from the hysterectomy. A hysterectomy is a surgical procedure which removes a woman's womb and may also involve the removal of other organs, such as the ovaries. She told fans they are not alone in their recovery as she is also experiencing 'brain fog, constant hot flushes, back pain, exhaustion, anxiety, anger' and many more. Opening up in a candid post, Katie confirmed to fans that she has 'not bounced back fast' though it may seem it and she is still struggling each day. She said: 'I keep getting messages saying, 'Wow, you're out already, you look amazing, you've bounced back so fast.' But honestly? It's absolute Instagram propaganda. 'The truth is, I don't recognise myself at all the moment. My body feels completely foreign. 'I've gained a stone in six weeks, I'm constantly bloated, my boobs are bigger and sore, my face looks puffy, my skin and hair are dry. Every time I see my reflection, it feels like a stranger staring back, and I hate it.' She continued: 'On top of that, I can't even exercise to help myself feel better. My consultant has told me I have another month of no baths or gym because of the pain and bleeding. 'That's four more weeks of being stuck in this body I don't feel comfortable in, with no outlet, no way to feel like me again. It's like I'm trapped, waiting for permission to move forward. 'The symptoms are relentless: the brain fog, forgetting names mid-sentence, going to the wrong cinema, snapping at people I love because I'm just so up and down. 'The CONSTANT hot flushes, the 2, 3 & 4 a.m. wake-ups, waking up drenched in sweat, terrible back pain, exhaustion that sits in my bones. And mentally… I'm low, anxious, & angry.' Katie explained how she recently got dressed up to appear on ITV's Lorraine and attended the Global Champions Arabians Tour with husband Nick, but has been 'struggling'. She wrote: 'The truth is, I don't recognise myself at all the moment. My body feels completely foreign. I've gained a stone in six weeks, I'm constantly bloated, my boobs are bigger and sore, my face looks puffy, my skin and hair are dry' She said: 'Yes, I can throw on a dress and lipstick and smile for a picture, but it's smoke and mirrors. Behind it, I feel like absolute s***. 'I'm sharing this because I don't want anyone scrolling through their feed thinking they're failing because they're not 'bouncing back' like I seem to be. I'm not. I'm bleeding, sore, puffy, heavier, grumpy, anxious and lost in a body I don't know or like. Emmerdale has been slapped with hundreds of Ofcom complaints after scenes of homophobic abuse. Viewers of the soap were left sobbing after character Vinny Dingle, played by Bradley Johnson, was brutally beaten before being conned out of money in a recent episode. In recent scenes, Vinny - who is engaged to a woman - expressed confusion over his sexuality and began speaking to a man who he met on an online support forum. And in an episode which aired last week, Vinny realised that Mike, the man had been talking to online, actually had a dark ulterior motive and ultimately showed up at Vinny's house before attacking, blackmailing and stealing from him. According to The Sun, 279 people contacted Ofcom with concerns over the episode, with the complaints objecting to 'violent and sexual content before the watershed'. Vinny had started speaking to Mike online after feeling confused about his sexuality. But out of the blue Mike turned up at Vinny's home, claiming that his girlfriend had thrown him out of the house. The situation took a dark turn when Mike started verbally abusing Vinny about his sexuality. Mike then attacked Vinny, brutally kicking and punching him and leaving him shaking on the floor. In an even more painful turn, Mike then forced Vinny to send him £10,000, blackmailing him with secret recordings he had taken of Vinny confessing to being confused about his sexuality. Vinny, who is engaged to female character Gabby Thomas, played by Rosie Bentham, felt he had no choice but to obey the demand. Mike also stole Vinny and Gabby's wedding rings, before making a run for it. Viewers were left in tears by the episode, with one writing: 'How powerful were the Vinny scenes last night?
