Partly cloudy start for Gauteng as temperatures are expected to dip
The South African Weather Service forecasts a maximum of 22°C for Pretoria and slightly cooler conditions for Johannesburg at 21°C. The province will continue to experience partly cloudy conditions over the next two days, with no significant rainfall expected.
Despite the clear skies, temperatures are not expected to rise significantly.
Weather forecaster Lehlohonolo Thobela states, 'We are seeing cool to cold conditions dominating most of Gauteng, especially in the mornings and evenings. The maximum will remain in the lower 20s.'
Warmer conditions may return towards the weekend, but the week remains in mid-winter chill.
By Tuesday, temperatures in Pretoria may climb to 24°C, with Johannesburg likely to remain a degree or two cooler.
Residents are advised to dress warmly in the mornings and remain cautious of fluctuating day-to-night temperatures.

Pipe repair at Lewis Drive underway
A BURST on a 360mm trunk water main pipe along Lewis Drive in Amanzimtoti has left large parts of the area without water, with repair efforts still underway this afternoon (July 21). Also read: Check water outage times in Amanzimtoti and surrounds According to Ward 97 councillor André Beetge, the outlets from the Lewis Drive reservoir had to be closed on Sunday to allow for the replacement of the damaged section. 'Unfortunately, draining the system took longer than anticipated. Crews have now exposed most of the damaged pipe, but due to its location on a T-piece, they've had to continue excavation by hand,' said Beetge. A replacement pipe has been sourced, and repair teams remain on-site. Beetge said they have requested municipal management to prioritise the repairs, as the outage affects a wide area, with added pressure from the scheduled night-time water shutdown and the reopening of schools on Monday. 'We understand the frustration from the community and are pushing to get the supply restored as quickly as possible,' he said. Cold front brings rain and cooler temperatures across South Africa
Mzansi is preparing for another cold front that will bring with it, rain and icy temperatures. South Africans should prepare for a distinctly chilly and wet week as a cold front sweeps across the nation, ushering in isolated showers and a noticeable plunge in temperatures. From Monday, residents in various regions will encounter a dramatic shift in weather, with the South African Weather Service (SAWS) predicting scattered rainfall and a 60% probability of showers particularly affecting the Eastern Cape, southern KwaZulu-Natal, and along the southern coastline. The inclement weather does not stop there; isolated thunderstorms carrying a 30% chance of rain have been forecast for pockets of the Northern Cape, Free State, and Limpopo. However, it is worth noting that most areas in the central and north-eastern parts of the country, including Gauteng and Mpumalanga, are expected to remain dry, with no severe weather warnings currently in effect.
