Washington DC [US], June 16 (ANI): Actor Billy Bob Thornton, who shares screen space with Demi Moore in 'Landman', shared that his co-star Moore could not recollect working with him on the set of Indecent Proposal over 34 years ago, reported People.
The Television Academy in North Hollywood hosted a buzzworthy FYC event for 'Landman' earlier this month. The TV drama created by Taylor Sheridan exploded on Paramount in November 2024, becoming the platform's biggest premiere in two years. Starring Billy Bob Thornton and Demi Moore, 'Landman' dives deep into the gritty, high-stakes world of the Texas oil industry, drawing inspiration from the acclaimed Boomtown podcast, as per the outlet.
The ensemble cast included John Hamm, Andy Garcia, Jacob Lofland, and Ali Larter. 'Landman' is quickly becoming a cornerstone of Sheridan's storytelling legacy.
Thornton revealed more about his multifaceted character, Tommy Norris, during a recent event for the program. He also discussed navigating Hollywood on his own terms, shared that Moore worked with her before reuniting for 'Landman' but she didn't remember it.
When the moderator, Stacey Wilson Hunt, asked Moore how she met Thornton, the 62-year-old actress acknowledged to being reminded by her co-star.
"She didn't remember me," Thornton revealed.
The two first met while working together on the 1993 drama directed by Adrian Lyne. However, Thornton played a small part in the film, so the two became more acquainted years later, reported People.
"We got to know each other because I did three movies with Bruce [Willis]," he added. "And you brought the kids to set all the time. So over the years we've known each other."
Thornton and Bruce Willis' first film together was Armageddon in 1998. Since then, the duo has starred in Bandits (2001) and The Astronaut Farmer (2006).
Moore married Willis in 1987, but they ended up divorcing in 2000. The pair share three daughters together, although Willis went on to welcome two more with his current wife and model, Emma Heming.
'Landman' was primarily shot in the Fort Worth area of Texas, a location familiar to Sheridan. He's used the region as a backdrop for several of his other series as well, including 1883, Yellowstone, and Lawmen: Bass Reeves, reported People. (ANI)

Brad Pitt says interested in working with Tom Cruise again only on this condition

Washington DC [US], June 16 (ANI): Actor Brad Pitt expressed interest in acting opposite fellow actor Tom Cruise as long as the role doesn't require death-defying aerial stunts, reported E! News. The two A-listers famously starred together in the 1994 horror drama "Interview With the Vampire." and have never reunited on screen afterwards. In an interview with E! News at the Mexican premiere of his upcoming film 'F1', Pitt referred to the popular aeroplane stunt of Cruise and said he is willing to do a movie with the latter only if the stunts are performed on the ground. "Well, I'm not gonna hang my ass off airplanes and shit like that," Pitt said with a laugh when asked about working with Cruise again. "So when he does something again that's on the ground, [then yes]," Pitt told E! News. Meanwhile, Pitt's 'F1' movie is directed by Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, the duo behind Cruise's record-breaking 'Top: Gun Maverick.' Pitt's movie was being developed while Cruise's movie was in post-production. "Top Gun: Maverick" earned 1.4 billion USD at the worldwide box office in summer 2022. Kosinski recently told GQ magazine, as quoted by Variety, that he originally planned to reunite Cruise and Pitt for his version of 'Ford v Ferrari,' although the studio never approved his budget. James Mangold ended up directing 'Ford v Ferrari' with Christian Bale and Matt Damon instead. "Tom always pushes it to the limit, but at the same time is super capable and very skilled," Kosinski said when asked about what would've happened had Cruise starred in 'F1' over Pitt, as quoted by Variety. "They both have the natural talent for driving. But yeah, I could see Tom maybe scaring us a little bit more," added Kosinski "We'd have had a crash," the film's action vehicle supervisor Graham Kelly quipped to GQ as quoted by Variety. "Tom pushes it to the limit. I mean really to the limit. That terrifies me. I mean, I've done loads of 'Mission: Impossibles' with Tom and it's the most stressful experience for someone like me building cars for him, doing stunts with him. Whereas Brad listens and he knows his abilities, and I think he'd be the first to say, 'Yeah, I'm not going to do that,'" added Graham Kelly. Pitt's 'F1' is set to open in theatres on June 27. (ANI)

Sivaranjini J directorial 'Victoria' becomes India's solo entry at 27th Shanghai International Film Festival, filmmaker shares her journey

Washington DC [US], June 16 (ANI): Director Sivaranjini J is thrilled as her debut feature film Victoria has been selected as the sole entry from India at the 27th Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) 2025. The film will be screened under the Asian New Talent section of the festival. Sivaranjini opened up about her journey from a small village in Kerala to gaining international recognition, revealing that she had once given up on her 'dream' of becoming a filmmaker due to the immense struggles faced by independent directors today, reported Variety. In an interview with Variety, the 'Victoria' director said that she feels 'honoured' for the recognition received by her film at the Shanghai International Film Festival 2025. 'I am feeling really honoured by the recognition. On a personal level, it feels like a significant milestone, considering how unattainable making a feature film once seemed to me. It's an acknowledgement of the collective effort of my team and the risks we took with this film,' said Sivaranjini as quoted by Variety. As per the outlet, Sivaranjini developed the project under the Kerala State Film Development Corporation's (KSFDC) Women's Empowerment scheme, which proved instrumental in bringing her vision to life. She calls it a huge 'turning point' in her filmmaking journey. 'By then, I had almost given up on my dream of becoming a filmmaker, aware of the immense struggles independent filmmakers often face. The state government grant was a huge turning point for me. The grant enabled me to pursue my dream without the usual commercial expectations of the producers. We also had access to the facilities of Chitranjali Studio owned by the state government,' said Sivaranjini as quoted by Variety. The film had its premiere at the 29th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) in 2024. As per Variety, the movie centres on Victoria, a young beautician who is caught between family expectations and personal desires when she plans to elope with her Hindu boyfriend against her conservative Catholic parents' wishes. Set almost entirely within a beauty parlour, the story complicates when Victoria must care for a neighbour's sacrificial rooster intended for a church offering. Sivaranjini J. also shared the inspiration behind her movie, saying that the idea of 'Victoria' struck her five years ago when she visited a neighbourhood beauty parlour in her home village on the outskirts of Kochi, Kerala. 'I encountered a rooster with its legs tied, near their toilet. I enquired and learned it was a sacrificial rooster soon to be taken to the nearby St. George church as an offering. A rooster inside an all-ladies beauty parlour was the image that inspired me to write the script,' said Sivaranjini. Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) announced the selection of Victoria through their Instagram handle. The cast of the film includes Meenakshi Jayan, Sreeshma Chandran, Jolly Chirayath, Steeja Mary, Darsana Vikas, Jeena Rajeev, and Remadevi. The technical team features Anand Ravi as director of photography, Abdul Khader A.K. handling art and production design, with Sivaranjini serving as editor, and Abhaydev Praful composing the music, reported Variety.
