'Books are treasures, and reading is the key to learning and future success. Let's keep this alive by reading everyday, for pleasure or research, to build a nation of critical thinkers,' said Thabile Manyathi, primary school principal.
Grade 2 teacher Valeria Ciccone added: 'Reading not only builds vocabulary, comprehension, and imagination; it opens doors to new ideas, cultures, and perspectives.' She added that it was heartwarming to see children so engaged and excited about books.
The success of this event, evident in the smiling faces, planted the seed for future read-a-thons, an initiative the school can't wait to grow.
