Kesha asks Valerie Bertinelli if son Wolfgang Van Halen is single: 'Checking the vibes out'

Yahoo16-05-2025

Kesha isn't afraid to shoot her shot.
The "Joyride" singer paused a conversation during Monday's episode of The Drew Barrymore Show to ask cohost Valerie Bertinelli about her son Wolfgang Van Halen's current relationship status. The question came up during a Drew's News segment about how "grandma hobbies" like crocheting and bird watching can improve one's mental health.
"I still haven't finished the blanket that I started knitting when I was pregnant with Wolfie," Bertinelli remarked. "He just turned 34. So maybe if he has children, I'll finally finish the blanket."
"You do want him to have children," host Drew Barrymore noted. Which is when Kesha, 38, turned to Bertinelli and promptly asked, "Is he single?"
Alas, he's "very happily married," Bertinelli replied as she giggled and grabbed Kesha's arm. Wolfgang, the son of Bertinelli and the late Eddie Van Halen, wed software engineer Andraia Allsop in October 2023.
Kesha took the news in stride, laughing and shrugging her shoulders before cheekily adding, "Just checking the vibes out."
Barrymore confirmed Kesha's current single status before asking if she was open to dating. Kesha replied, "I more like the idea of someone flying me around on their private plane."
"Okay, but what do you have to do for that?" Bertinelli countered. "Because they're gonna want something back."
But Kesha was unfazed. "Nothing!" she emphasized. "Me? They get to be in my presence."
Bertinelli confessed that she loved that attitude, and Barrymore agreed. "We are such people pleasers," she said, "we're like, 'Oh, if you get something you're gonna have to give a lot up for it.'"
"No, you just are iconic," Kesha declared. "Come on, ladies!"
Still, Kesha admitted that she was kind of using her visit to Barrymore's show as a "dating app" to find a potential suitor. Channeling their inner game show hostesses, Barrymore and Bertinelli then began to showcase the songstress sitting between them at the news desk.
"Kesha's available! Anybody?" Bertinelli shouted. Barrymore added, "This beautiful woman, right here!"
The Drew Barrymore Show airs weekdays on CBS.

Bill Belichick keeps relitigating his disastrous CBS interview

Bill Belichick is one of the greatest football coaches of all time. His P.R. instincts leave much to be desired. Beyond entrusting his personal brand to his 24-year-old girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, Belichick has a bad habit of not letting sleeping dogs lie and/or dead horses go unbeaten. Case in point, now reports that Belichick's book publicist assured Belichick that the disastrous CBS interview would be only about Belichick's book. The report emerged today, more than a month after the CBS interview aired. And it has reanimated a dormant issue. The article cites an April 9 email from Simon & Schuster's senior director of publicity David Kass to Belichick. Wrote Kass: 'I can assure you that the conversation [will be] about the book.' Kass also reportedly told Belichick the CBS interview would be a 'puff piece . . . designed to make everyone look good and sell books.' (Somewhat surprisingly, the new report doesn't blame Kass for suggesting that Belichick wear an old football jersey with a giant hole in the neck to the CBS interview.) Per Belichick was 'furious' when the CBS interview strayed beyond book topics. Then there's this: 'Sources say Belichick had actually shot down several interview opportunities Kass had put in front of him over concerns the media outlets would use his book promotion as a way to pry into subjects not related to the actual book.' It's a fascinating development, for several reasons. First, the story is smeared with Belichick's (or Hudson's) fingerprints. Which means that one or both decided to dredge up a dead story, weeks after the fact. Which also means that one or both believed the new story would cause people to say, 'Well, now we understand why she weirdly refused to let him answer the basic question of how they met.' Second, one or both decided to throw Kass under the bus, both directly and by potentially instigating a stray, conspiracy theory-inducing remark that Kass 'once helped Jeff Benedict's Robert Kraft-themed book, The Dynasty, reach the New York Times' bestseller list.' Kass is painted as the villain in this, the one who lied to Belichick about what the CBS interview was going to be. Third, Belichick did other interviews in which questions unrelated to the book were asked — after the CBS sit-down. Michael Strahan asked a few personal questions on Good Morning America. Ryan Clark asked questions about Hudson on The Pivot Podcast. (Then again, those questions apparently were scripted to help Belichick undo the CBS-related P.R. damage.) Fourth, Belichick and/or Hudson apparently have decided to try to get on their side by spoon-feeding information to the outlet. Given the extent to which had been hammering all things Belichick and Hudson, a subtle quid pro quo that gets to play nice in exchange for current and future information would be a smart move by Belichick. Make no mistake about it. The issue is back on the front burner because Belichick and/or Hudson decided it would be a smart move to point a finger at Kass, weeks after the fact. And it's just the latest time Belichick and/or Hudson have blamed others for their own blunders. He/she/they have blamed CBS for editing the interview to create a 'false narrative.' He/she/they have blamed North Carolina for not having a sufficient P.R. function in place when he arrived. He/she/they now blame Kass for failing to (wait for it) 'do his job' properly. It's always someone else's fault. It's never their fault. And they presumably think people will buy the idea that they're the victims of widespread incompetence and malfeasance.

Watch: 'Man in My Basement' teaser shows Willem Dafoe move in

File Photo by John Angelillo/UPI | License Photo June 5 (UPI) -- Hulu is previewing The Man in My Basement, starring Corey Hawkins and Willem Dafoe. The thriller film is based on the novel by Walter Mosley, who co-wrote the screenplay with director Nadia Latif. The trailer released Thursday begins with a loud knock at the door that awakens Charles Blakey (Hawkins). Anniston Bennet (Dafoe) stands on the doorstep of the home, located in 1994 Sag Harbor, New York. "I have it in mind to rent your basement for a couple months," Bennet says, emphasizing that he is "only interested in renting." "I'll pay you $1,000 a day for 65 days," he proposes. The money would enable Blakey to keep his home, which had been in his family a long time and was facing foreclosure. Bennet's arrival, however, brings "in a force much darker than" Blakey anticipated. "We're exploring mental health, trauma, exploitation, and yes, the nature of evil, but we're also dealing with legacy, lineage, home and love," Hawkins told Entertainment Weekly. "A script centered on blackness in middle-class Sag Harbor in the '90s is loaded with cultural significance." An official release date has not yet been shared.

Watch Jennifer Lopez spin a fantastical web in teaser for 'Kiss of the Spider Woman'

Jennifer Lopez is making a bold new move in her career. The multi-hyphenate star is at the center of the teaser trailer for Kiss of the Spider Woman, a film adaptation of the 1993 Tony Award-winning Broadway musical hit from Dreamgirls and Beauty and the Beast director Bill Condon. Lopez plays Ingrid Luna/the Spider Woman, a fictional silver screen diva who brings dazzling technicolor into the bleak life of prisoner Molina (Tonatiuh Elizarraraz), a window dresser convicted of public indecency. The film switches from Molina's harsh reality to a fantastical, musical utopia as he recounts the plot of a Hollywood musical to his cellmate, Valentín (Diego Luna), a political prisoner. Set to John Kander and Fred Ebb's — the legendary duo behind Chicago and Cabaret — award-winning score and a book by Tony Award winner Terrence McNally, Condon's adaptation draws inspiration from the Broadway musical and the acclaimed 1976 novel of the same name by Argentinian writer Manuel Puig. The Broadway musical won seven Tony awards, including Best Musical and Best Actress in a Musical for Chita Rivera, who originated the role of the Spider Woman. Condon's adaptation isn't the only time the Spider Woman has made her way to the big screen. Héctor Babenco directed the first film adaptation of the novel, which premiered in 1985. The critically acclaimed film starred William Hurt, Raúl Juliá, and Sônia Braga. Hurt won the Best Actor award when the film premiered at the 1985 Cannes Film Festival, as well as the Academy Award and BAFTA for Best Actor. Babenco became the first Brazilian filmmaker to earn an Oscar nomination for Best Director, and the film was the first Brazilian production to receive a nod for Best Picture. It also received a Best Adapted Screenplay nomination. Lopez is not only the star of the film, but also serves as an executive producer alongside Luna, her ex-husband Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, and 12 others. The movie debuted at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival back in January and received a standing ovation from the audience, which reportedly left Lopez in tears. The mother of two previously opened up about taking the role during an interview with Variety's Awards Circuit podcast in November. She called it "the most challenging and rewarding role I've ever had." "It's a dark story, but also one about love and survival — about helping each other through hard times," Lopez added. "I think that's a message we really need right now." She recalled Kander being with her in the studio when she recorded her songs. "He's [98] years old and still so full of life," Lopez said. "Hearing him say, 'I've never heard this song sung better' — it was one of the best moments of my career." Kiss of the Spider Woman is set to premiere in theaters Oct. 10.
