OnlyFans users face prison under harsh new Swedish prostitution law
The law, which will take effect July 1, also criminalizes profiting from or promoting others who perform sexual acts for payment on demand.
'This is a new form of sex purchase, and it's high time we modernize the legislation to include digital platforms,' Swedish member of parliament Teresa Carvalho said after the bill passed.

Under the new law, it will be illegal to pay someone to carry out a sexual act remotely — such as on a live video stream — for the specific purpose of that act being viewed by the buyer.
The law targets live, specially-commissioned interactions — which are especially lucrative and popular among many porn stars on online platforms.
Watching and paying for pre-recorded adult content will remain legal.
Carvalho, who is part of Sweden's left-wing opposition party, the Social Democrats, said the law is not aimed at targeting OnlyFans models themselves.

Instead, she said it will protect young people and other individuals vulnerable to exploitation.
She pointed to links between online exploitation and grooming with drug abuse, human trafficking, and prostitution.
The bill was proposed by the Swedish parliament's justice committee and received cross-party backing.

In Sweden, paying for sex is already illegal and faces a sentence of up to one year in prison. Sweden's sex trafficking laws focus on punishing the buyers, but not the sex workers.
Pimping carries a maximum sentence of four years in prison.
This new law cracking down on OnlyFans and other adult sites is similar to the SESTA/FOSTA law passed in the US in 2018 during President Trump's first term in office, which punished platforms that facilitate sex work, Yigit Adin, activist at the European Sex Workers' Rights Alliance, told Netzpolitik.org.
But others in Sweden want the law to go further, and have called for a total ban on platforms like OnlyFans.
'It is a forum where sexual services are also sold. Prostitution or the sex trade is constantly taking new forms, and it is important that politicians and legislators keep up with the developments that are taking place,' Social Democrats politician Annika Strandhäll told the Swedish newspaper Expressen.

She also called on age limits on porn sites to shield children from harmful material.
'From the perspective of Swedish women, we see a big problem with the access to gross violent pornography that very young children in Sweden today have, just by pressing a button on their phones,' she said.
'We protect our children in many different ways from gaining access to different things that are not appropriate in our society. For example, if they go to a gambling site, or from having access to alcohol or similar,' she added.

Conor McGregor offers to fight at potential UFC White House event while Jon Jones shows interest
President Donald Trump's idea of hosting a UFC event at the White House next Fourth of July already has some volunteers for the potential main event. Trump tossed out the idea Thursday of having an MMA card at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue next Independence Day to ring in the country's 250th birthday, and two of the UFC's biggest stars made it known they are interested in fighting that day. 4 President Donald Trump prepares to watch the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) with UFC CEO Dana White and Elon Musk at the Kaseya Center on April 12, 2025. Getty Images Conor McGregor, who is a supporter of the president, posted to X on Friday that he would be down to enter the octagon that day. 'Happy 4th of July, USA,' McGregor wrote. 'Excited with President Trump announcing a UFC fight event at the White House. I would be honoured! Count me in!' McGregor hasn't fought since he fractured his leg during his fight against Dustin Poirier in 2021 and had to pull out of a much-anticipated bout with Michael Chandler at UFC 303 in June 2024 after breaking his toe during training. If that fight doesn't work out, UFC president Dana White might be able to get Jon Jones to un-retire for the event. Jones, who recently said he had called it quits from MMA and relinquished the UFC heavyweight championship, did a stunning about-face Friday after learning about Trump's proposal. 'Fighting at the White House?' Jones wrote on X Friday with an eyes emoji. He posted in a second tweet: 'Just re-entered the testing pool, that lasted for about two weeks. Figured we'd keep everyone's options open.' Trump, who has attended a number of UFC events, is close with White, so anything seems possible.

Former AOC backer has stark warning for young Mamdani fans: ‘They're selling a fantasy that doesn't work'
A former AOC supporter has come out with a stark warning for young Big Apple voters in the wake of socialist Zohran Mamdani's Democratic primary victory. 'If I was 25, I would've been obsessed with Zohran,' Lucy Biggers admits in a video she posted last week on X. 6 Lucy Biggers says socialist programs don't work because rich people flee to avoid higher taxes. Lucy Biggers/X 'Now I'm 35, and I've grown up. The feel-good promises of free college, free food, free housing might sound great, but they don't work.' She goes on to explain her view that socialist policies make cities poorer because rich people leave, while everyone else is left stuck with higher taxes — and little to show for it. 'The road to hell is paved with good intentions.' 6 Biggers said she was really taken by AOC when they met in 2018 and they were both in their 20s. Lucy Biggers/Instagram Biggers, who works in media, says she helped propel AOC from a virtual unknown to political juggernaut in 2018. 'I met AOC when she was basically a nobody. And I really thought she had something special going on, so I booked her for an interview at our studios,' Biggers told The Post. She produced a viral video for progressive social media site Now This which Ocasio-Cortez' campaign ended up paying to promote on social media. 6 Biggers was a big supporter of AOC back in 2018. Lucy Biggers/X 'They downloaded it, and they used it as a campaign asset . . . they used it as a digital ad,' said Biggers, who's now social media editor at The Free Press. AOC shockingly defeated 10-term incumbent Rep. Joe Crowley in the 2018 Democratic Primary for New York's 14th Congressional District, before she went on to win the seat in the midterm election that November. 'The video got her message out. At that time, no one cared about AOC, she was not on cable news,' Biggers recalled. 6 Ocasio-Cortez was a big boost to fellow socialist Zohran Mamdani mayoral campaign for NYC. LP Media Fast forward seven years, and Biggers, who now is a homeowner and a mother of two in Connecticut, is seeing things a bit differently. She said the pandemic and the impact of government spending was a big turning point. 'As you grow up, you start to see the world less black and white. You can't sell this bill of goods that promises to create a utopia in America,' said Biggers, who works in the city. 6 Biggers said she met AOC on a few occasions back in 2018. Lucy Biggers/Instagram 'There's a glorification of socialism among young people. They don't know what happened in Cuba, Venezuela, the USSR. They glamorize these countries and are indoctrinated into thinking the US is bad. It's very naive . . . it's embarrassing,' she said, reflecting on her own views back then. Voter energy behind Mamdani is authentic, but the enthusiasm is entirely misplaced, Biggers said. 6 Biggers said she is seeing many parallels between Ocasio-Cortez and Mamdani. William Miller 'It's young people who want to make a change. And he ran a really great campaign honestly,' she said. 'But I just think it's selling a fantasy that ultimately doesn't work.' Ocasio-Cortez' and Mamdani's offices declined to comment.

Two to tango: Dancer claims rep was ruined by NYC shrink who accused him of spiking drink
It takes two to tango but apparently just one after-party to ruin a reputation. A suburban Seattle man and tango enthusiast claims a gin-soaked late-night gathering at a California Airbnb with his fellow dance lovers left him shunned when one later accused him of spiking the drinks. Eduard Koller showed up at a small gathering after the March 2023 Southern California Tango Festival with tequila and 'a gin-based cocktail' in hand, according to a lawsuit. The party broke up without incident and Koller, 55, took an Uber back to his hotel along with four of his party guests. Eduard Koller claims he was never alone with his accuser and never spiked anyone's drink. Eduard Koller/Facebook But a year later, Koller claims he was barred from a tango marathon in Massachusetts because the co-organizer believed he'd been 'inappropriate,' he said in Manhattan Supreme Court papers. James Oh allegedly told the Redmond, Wash. man only that he'd received 'multiple credible claims of inappropriate and harmful behaviors by you. And I'm not comfortable letting you be part of any event I'm organizing or co-organizing,' according to the litigation. Nimroody and Koller only met three times, he said in court papers. Tehela Nimroody /Facebook Koller later learned Upper East Side psychologist Tehela Nimroody had accused him of tampering with her beverage during the California after-party, he said in legal papers. The pair were not alone during the party in question and 'did not share any other type of relationship or interactions' aside from meeting at three tango events between 2022 and 2024, Koller claimed. Nimroody allegedly ignored a Facebook message Koller sent seeking to clarify her claim, he noted. Koller is seeking unspecified damages and wants a court order barring Oh and Nimroody from posting any 'defamatory and injurious content' about him. Oh declined comment on the litigation. Nimroody did not respond to messages.
