Modi first PM to restore Ayodhya's glory: CM Yogi Adityanath

Indian Express3 days ago

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday credited the 11 years rule of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the 'resurgence of India's cultural heritage', citing 'milestones' such as the consecration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the restoration of Kashi Vishwanath Dham, and events like the Maha Kumbh. He said Modi is the first Prime Minister to 'restore Ayodhya's glory'.
Addressing a state-level BJP workshop organised in Lucknow on the completion of 11 years of the Modi government, Adityanath urged party workers to actively participate in programmes like the Tiranga Yatra, Ahilyabai Holkar Remembrance, and International Yoga Day.
The CM also asked BJP workers to take the 'achievements' of the Central government to every citizen. He said the 11 years of the Modi government's performance form the foundation for realizing the vision of a developed India. 'Workers must play an active role in disseminating these achievements at the state, district, mandal, and Shakti Kendra levels.'
Recalling how BJP workers had taken the achievements of the Uttar Pradesh government's 8-year tenure to every booth, the CM said it is now time to do the same at a national level — showcasing both state and central accomplishments.
Citing BJP's win in recent Assembly by-elections, he said that coordinated meetings of party departments and cells had proved effective. BJP's six morchas and 22–23 cells represent every segment of society — including lawyers, doctors, teachers, students, and beneficiaries. Organising meetings with these groups and selecting speakers from among them would ensure effective outreach.
He encouraged departments and cells to organise conferences with professionals such as doctors and lawyers, and to promote beneficiary success stories through media. He said this campaign will not only promote the BJP, but also help connect the government with every segment of society. A range of programmes are scheduled from June 9 to June 21 at the state, district, mandal, and booth levels.
Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak said India's growing global recognition and strengthening economy are direct results of PM Modi's leadership. He urged workers to communicate the benefits of schemes aimed at villages, the poor, farmers, and women to the broader public.

Andhra Pradesh government comes under fire for not appointing GVMC Commissioner

The NDA government has come under severe criticism over the non-appointment of a Commissioner for the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) for the past four months. Not just the members of the opposition, even some NDA leaders expressed displeasure over the GVMC not having a chief over hundred days, during the council meeting organised by the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) on Friday. Corporators of the YSRCP staged a protest in front of the Mayor's podium. They alleged sheer negligence by the NDA government over the municipal corporation. They argued that the prolonged absence of a GVMC chief has significantly disrupted the corporation's functioning. They also criticised that the non-appointment of Commissioner reflects the interest of the NDA government on Visakhapatnam. Rajya Sabha member Golla Babu Rao and YSRCP floor leader Banala Srinivasa Rao expressed dissent, stating that lack of a Municipal Commissioner is affecting the civic administration. They also found fault with burdening the District Collector with additional GVMC administration workload. They also urged the Collector to somehow dedicate two hours 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the corporation to address civic issues. Visakhapatnam North MLA P. Vishnu Kumar Raju also supported the statements of Mr. Golla Babu Rao. He said the civic body should pass a resolution seeking appointment of a Municipal Commissioner. With Visakhapatnam set to host the International Yoga Day celebrations, likely to be attended by the Prime Minister, he emphasised the urgency of having a full-time Municipal Commissioner in place to oversee preparations. Stormy affair The council meeting held on Friday, was the first for this year and also after the NDA taking over the positions of the Mayor and the Deputy Mayor. The council was stormy affair witnessing intense debates with heated arguments being exchanged between the YSRCP and the NDA leaders. YSRCP Deputy Mayor K. Satish and Mr. Banala Srinivasa Rao accused the administration of ignoring their development proposals. They alleged that projects proposed by them in their wards were excluded from the planning agenda, with preference being given to those recommended by NDA MLAs. There was strong response from the corporators from the JSP. JSP floor leader B Vasantha Lakshmi claimed that during the previous YSRCP government, proposals from certain YSRCP leaders such as K.K. Raju and V. Vijaya Sai Reddy, who held no official positions in the corporation, were given preference to those of NDA corporators. Responding to the JSP corporators, Mr. Banala Srinivasa Rao pointed out that, according to the GVMC Engineering wing, six of the 10 wards that saw the most development in the past four years were represented by TDP corporators, suggesting a balanced approach during the YSRCP's tenure. Heated arguments were exchanged when some of the YSRCP corporators questioned presence of former MLA Peela Govinda Satyanarayana in the council. They recalled that earlier, the TDP corporators questioned the presence of YSRCP MLC Varudu Kalyani in the council. The GVMC Secretary immediately clarified that Mr. Satyanarayana, now holding a post of Chairman of AP Urban Finance & Infrastructure Development Corporation, had received formal permission from the government to attend the council meeting.

"No Message, Will Give News Directly": Uddhav Thackeray On MNS Alliance Buzz

With the upcoming Maharashtra civic polls, the buzz has gotten stronger. Will they, won't they form an alliance? Uddhav Thackeray's party and his estranged cousin Raj Thackeray's MNS face this Hamletian dilemma in the face of poor electoral runs. With the upcoming Maharashtra civic polls, the buzz around the possible alliance between rival cousins has only gotten stronger. MNS is a breakaway group of the united Shiv Sena floated by Raj Thackeray in 2006. Uddhav Thackeray, who leads the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), did not dismiss the idea when the alliance question was put to him. "Whatever is in the heart of Maharashtra will happen. He said that there is no confusion in the hearts of Shiv Sainiks. There is no confusion in the mind of MNS also. We will not give any message, we will give the news directly," said the former chief minister. The statement follows the declaration by Amit Thackeray, Raj Thackeray's son, that alliances are formed through direct dialogue, hinting that the cousins should speak. "Alliances aren't formed through media sound bites or newspaper headlines. Direct dialogue is necessary," Amit Thackeray said. The young Thackeray added that he had "no issues" with the brothers coming together. "Two brothers should speak. We talking on this issue will not make any difference. I don't have any issue with the two brothers coming together," he said further. What's fuelling political speculation is the growing chumminess between MNS and the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT), even though both camps insist that no formal talks have begun. The two rival parties were seen together at a recent MNS party office puja in Nashik, where local leaders from both sides shared the stage. Speaking to NDTV, Nashik district head DG Suryavanshi said that the local party heads participated in the puja of the new MNS office after they were officially invited by their MNS counterparts. "Seniors will decide on the union. The Thackerays got to take a call on it, but we tried to show that the workers on the ground are ready for this situation," said Mr Suryavanshi. On the possible challenges the alliance might pose, he added, "We'll see - wherever the strong candidate from either of the two parties is best suited, they will be fielded accordingly, but no such discussion has begun yet." The BJP did not appear too enthused with the chatter around the alliance buzz. "Political views differ. Even if the families come together, there will be different concepts of political arithmetic, hence there is doubt to what extent they will come together," BJP MLA Pravin Darekar said.

Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah's political secretary removed amid stampede during RCB victory celebrations

BENGALURU: A day after the State Government suspended five senior police officers, including the Bengaluru City Police Commissioner, the Chief Minister's Political Secretary has been removed from the post with immediate effect. A notification by the Undersecretary (Protocol), Department of Personnel and Administrative Reform (DPAR) said K Govindaraj, Political Secretary to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has been removed from the post with immediate effect. Congress MLC Govindaraj was appointed as the Political Secretary to the CM on June 1, 2023. The State government is facing flak after a stampede during the RCB's IPL-2025 victory celebrations at Chinnaswamy stadium that claimed 11 lives. Earlier in the day, Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy had accused Govindaraj of putting pressure on the CM to hold RCB victory celebrations. The opposition BJP and JDS leaders are demanding the resignation of CM Siddaramaiah, Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, and Home Minister G Parameshwara. On Thursday, the government suspended five senior officers including Bengaluru City Police Commissioner B Dayanand. Accusing the government of making police officers scapegoats, BJP and JDS leaders said the investigation by CID, magisterial probe, and inquiry by a retired High Court judge would not reveal the truth and justice would not be served to the victims' families. The Congress party high command has to remove Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar, said Kumaraswamy.
