Etyen Releases Second Album ‘My Goddess' on Thawra Records

Lebanese producer Etyen has just released his second album, 'My Goddess', through his Beirut-based independent label Thawra Records. Released both digitally and on vinyl, the nine-track project is a deeply emotional, sonically expansive portrait of heartbreak, reflection, and survival.
Written during Lebanon's ongoing political and economic turmoil, the album captures the dual weight of personal grief and collective trauma. 'It's about learning to let go, even when everything feels like it's slipping through your hands,' Etyen tells SceneNoise.
The record is charged with layered textures, shifting from fragility to resilience, reflecting the artist's own emotional turbulence. Amongst the inspirations behind the album is the loss of his cat Lucy, a symbolic presence that threads through the record's narrative of mourning and rebirth.
Etyen has spent over a decade crafting a distinct voice in electronic music. His work spans Netflix original soundtracks ('Jinn'), international festivals like Sonar Barcelona and MUTEK, and editorial nods from Bandcamp Daily, BBC Radio 6, and FBi Radio. Through Thawra Records, he continues to champion experimental artists from the Arab region, building a community rooted in sonic and political independence.

The Triumph of Horus to open 32nd Cairo Int'l Festival for Experimental Theatre - Stage & Street - Arts & Culture
The 32nd Cairo International Festival for Experimental Theatre (CIFET) will open with The Triumph of Horus, an ancient Egyptian sacred drama often described as one of the earliest, if not oldest, ceremonial dramatic texts known to humanity. The ritual, rooted in Edfu in Upper Egypt, reenacts the mythological victory of Horus and celebrates his divine kingship. Structured as a prologue, three acts, and an epilogue, it is considered an early example of Egyptian theatrical forms fused with myth and ritual. The staging for CIFET's opening ceremony will be directed and choreographed by Walid Aouni, the Cairo-based Lebanese choreographer honoured at last year's 31st edition for more than three decades of work in Egypt's modern dance and theatre scene. Cairo International Festival for Experimental Theatre Launched in 1988 by then-culture minister Farouk Hosny, CIFET has long been one of Egypt's most significant cultural events, designed to place Cairo on the international theatre map. The event is organized by the Ministry of Culture. For its first two decades, the festival ran over 10 days each September, attracting dozens of Arab and international troupes for awards — at its peak in the late 2000s, CIFET was hosting 40 to 50 performances across multiple venues in Cairo and beyond. The event was suspended for five years after the January 2011 revolution, before returning in 2016 under Sameh Mahran as its president. Renamed the Cairo International Festival for Contemporary and Experimental Theatre (CIFCET), it adopted a smaller programme, a shorter run, and dropped its competitive format. In 2020, during its 27th edition, the festival reverted to its original name and reinstated competition under the late theatre academic and playwright Alaa Abdel-Aziz. Mahran returned as CIFET president in 2023. The 32nd edition of CIFET will run from 1 to 8 September, with the full programme still to be announced. Diane Lane and Phoebe Dynevor Clash in Trailer for Dylan O'Brien's "Anniversary"
Yara Sameh Diane Lane isn't pleased with Dylan O'Brien's choice of partner in the official trailer for "Anniversary". Lionsgate releases director Jan Komasa's thriller feature in theaters October 29. Kyle Chandler, Madeline Brewer, Zoey Deutch, Phoebe Dynevor, Mckenna Grace, and Daryl McCormack round out the cast. "Anniversary" centers on a family torn apart when Josh (O'Brien) brings home his girlfriend, Liz (Dynevor), who was his mom Ellen's (Lane) former student and has a controversial past. Komasa (Good Boy) helmed the lic from a script by Lori Rosene-Gambino, with the story credited to Komasa and Rosene-Gambino. Serving as producers are Nick Wechsler, Steve Schwartz, Paula Mae Schwartz and Kate Churchill. O'Brien's recent films include "Ponyboi," "Saturday Night," and "Caddo Lake." His forthcoming feature projects include "Twinless," "Send Help", and "Being Heumann." Lane's recent credits include the Netflix series "A Man in Full" and a voice role in "Inside Out 2". Duffers Brothers Sign Four-Year Paramount Deal, Plan Netflix Exit in April 2026
Yara Sameh Matt and Ross Duffer, best known for creating the Netflix juggernaut 'Stranger Things,' are officially in business with Paramount. The pair are leaving Netflix for a wide-ranging, four-year exclusive deal at Paramount. The agreement, which is expected to emphasize 'ambitious' and 'large-scale theatrical films,' as well as television and streaming projects. It will commence following the conclusion of their current deal with Netflix in April 2026. The upcoming projects will be developed through their production company, Upside Down Pictures, led by the brothers and their producing partner and president of the company, Hilary Leavitt. 'We couldn't be more thrilled to be joining the Paramount family,' the Duffers said in a statement. 'To be part of that mission is not just exciting – it's the fulfillment of a lifelong dream. And to do so at a studio with such a storied Hollywood legacy is a privilege we don't take lightly. We're also excited to reunite with our friends Cindy [Holland] and Matt [Thunell], who were among the very first to believe in us and an unusual little script we wrote that became 'Stranger Things.' They took a chance on us in 2015, and they're taking a chance again – we can't wait to create new stories together.' The deal reunites the Duffers with Cindy Holland, Paramount's new head of streaming, who greenlit 'Stranger Things' at Netflix, and Matt Thunell, president of Paramount Television, who also worked with the brothers at the streamer. The pair will also work with Josh Greenstein and Dana Goldberg, who share film and series creative duties at Paramount. Their hiring, which comes shortly after Paramount's $8 billion merger with Skydance, is part of the company's chairman and CEO David Ellison's goal to be the 'first call for filmmakers and artists seeking a creative home that champions their work and amplifies it on a global stage.' The news, which leaked last week, comes as the Duffers gear up for the fifth and final season of 'Stranger Things' on Netflix. After their Netflix deal, the Duffers will remain involved in 'Stranger Things' and their other existing development projects. 'Our time at Netflix has been incredible. Ted [Sarandos], Bela [Bajaria], and Peter [Friedlander] have given us the kind of creative freedom and support that artists dream of but so rarely receive. A decade in, they are family,' the Duffers added. 'We're excited to continue collaborating – not only on the upcoming release of 'Stranger Things 5,' but also on shows we're deeply proud to be producing, including 'Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen' and 'The Boroughs.'
