Canadian Prime Minister Mark
Carney
has issued a
new mandate
letter to his cabinet, emphasizing two key
immigration
priorities: reducing overall immigration to sustainable levels and attracting top
global talent
to support
Canada
's economy. These objectives are among the top seven priorities for the federal cabinet moving forward, as per a report by CIC News.
The mandate letter reiterates the
Liberal government
's commitment to stabilizing permanent resident immigration levels, acknowledging that previous increases had placed strain on housing and public services. The government aims to admit 395,000 permanent residents in 2025, 380,000 in 2026, and 365,000 in 2027, aligning with the goal of keeping admissions below 1% of Canada's projected population of 41.5 million in 2025.
In addition to managing immigration levels, the mandate letter highlights the importance of attracting skilled professionals to bolster critical sectors of the economy. Plans include updating the Global Skills Strategy to expedite work permit processing for eligible foreign workers and collaborating with provinces and territories to improve the recognition of foreign credentials and international work experience.

The shocking billion-dollar price tag to purchase the Pittsburgh Penguins has finally been revealed by insider Josh Yohe

The staggering cost to buy the Pittsburgh Penguins (NHL) The Pittsburgh Penguins may not only be fighting for wins on the ice, but also for ownership stability off it. Fenway Sports Group (FSG), which purchased the franchise in 2021, could be willing to part ways with the team if the right buyer steps forward. And according to NHL insider Josh Yohe, the price tag to lure FSG into selling is nothing short of staggering. Penguins ownership race intensifies as billionaires enter the fray For months, speculation has swirled around Mario Lemieux, the Penguins legend and former co-owner, seeking to reclaim his place at the helm. But the story took another twist with the emergence of the billionaire Hoffmann Family, who have now thrown their hat into the ring. Their involvement signals a looming bidding war, one that could push the team's value into uncharted territory. Yohe's report revealed the blockbuster figure attached to this potential sale: 'Should an offer in the neighborhood of $1.75 billion be thrown at FSG, the source believes a deal could be struck.' That number doesn't just reflect the Penguins' historic success—it underscores the NHL's surging market value. With franchise prices skyrocketing and expansion fees reaching similar levels, the Penguins' worth mirrors the growing appetite for hockey investments. Penguins' future hinges on who pays the steepest price The Penguins aren't strangers to ownership shifts. After all, the franchise only changed hands in 2021 when FSG bought them. Yet, this latest development suggests the team could once again see a transition, just four years later. Whether it's Lemieux's deep-rooted passion for the franchise or the Hoffmann Family's financial muscle, the question boils down to who can meet—or surpass—the $1.75 billion threshold. For fans, the uncertainty brings mixed emotions. While the team has struggled in recent seasons, the Penguins remain one of hockey's most marketable brands, anchored by a loyal fan base and a rich championship legacy. If the sale materializes, it could reshape the franchise's direction for decades. One thing is clear: the Penguins are no longer just playing for playoff contention. They are at the center of a billion-dollar showdown.
