Religious minister: Jais to call two new witnesses in eHati probe tomorrow
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar, said that the case is being investigated under Section 7 of the Syariah Criminal Offences (Selangor) Enactment 1995.
'So far, I can confirm that the investigation has begun, and we hope that the witnesses will be present tomorrow,' he said after officiating the pre-launch ceremony of the 65th International Quran Recitation and Memorisation Assembly (MTHQA), at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL), today.
Mohd Na'im said that two women, who were the initial witnesses, had previously lodged a complaint with the Jais Research Division.
'However, I was informed by the Enforcement Division that both complainants appeared somewhat hesitant to come forward and provide further information to Jais. I hope this issue can be clarified, so that everyone understands the situation and the truth can be revealed,' he said.
'It is crucial for witnesses to come forward and assist the Jais Enforcement Division in carrying out a professional investigation, to ensure that no party is unfairly treated,' he said.
He added that the Jais Enforcement Division is also working closely with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), which will investigate the case from the standpoint of potential civil law offences.
In this regard, he urged all parties with relevant information to step forward and fully cooperate with the authorities.
'I sincerely urge all parties involved, or with relevant information, to come forward and assist the Jais Enforcement Division by providing truthful details, so that the matter can be resolved fairly and transparently,' he said.
The public was recently taken aback by revelations on social media alleging that the eHati motivational programme, reportedly organised by a married couple, involved immoral activities and the propagation of dubious beliefs.
In a recent post on the user's Facebook page, it was claimed that two women had performed a nude dance during a session, held at a convention centre in Shah Alam.
It was further alleged that participants were given a liquid of unknown contents that induced emotional changes in a short time and were instructed to undergo 'holy cleansing baths' and 'rebirth' rituals resembling practices from other religions. — Bernama

SHAH ALAM : Police have confirmed that the controversial eHati marriage motivation programme held last year featured an activity involving nudity. Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan said the nudity-related acts took place during the 'Queens Night' segment on the final day of the programme, held from Sept 27 to 30, 2024. 'There were two packages offered as part of the programme – Package A, priced at about RM6,000, and Package B, at about RM9,000, which included the Queens Night,' he told a press conference at the state police headquarters here today. This follows claims by a Facebook user alleging that a female speaker, initially dressed in a bikini, had stripped naked and danced with participants during the event's final night. They allegedly encouraged participants to follow suit, and remove their clothes after giving them a 'mysterious' drink. Hussein urged those involved in the programme to come forward and give their statements. He said six people have been arrested so far, comprising four women and two men, including two married couples. Police also seized several items, including liquids, as part of their investigation. Statements have also been recorded from 30 people, including the event's organisers and participants. Yesterday, police arrested Diyana Tahir and Rahim Shukor, the founders of eHati International Sdn Bhd, and raided their home after they gave their statements at the police headquarters. The couple previously denied promoting obscene acts and insulting behaviour in their eHati marriage motivation programme, saying the activities were aligned with Islamic values. Police are investigating the programme under criminal laws covering obscene acts, modesty, and public decency.

Rulers weigh national security, vape ban and top judicial picks at latest conference
KUALA LUMPUR, July 16 — Issues concerning national security, judicial appointments, and the proposed ban on vape were among the key topics discussed at the 269th Conference of Rulers meeting held at Istana Negara today. The Keeper of the Rulers' Seal, Tan Sri Syed Danial Syed Ahmad, in a statement, said the meeting was presided over by the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah. 'Today, the Conference received the latest briefings on national security from the Inspector-General of Police, Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail, and on national defence from the Chief of Defence Forces, General Tan Sri Mohd Nizam Jaffar,' he said. Syed Danial said that the meeting also deliberated on appointments of judges, including those to the Federal Court, Court of Appeal, and High Courts, as well as on appointments of the Chief Judges of Sabah and Sarawak High Courts, President of the Court of Appeal, and the Chief Justice of Malaysia. 'The Conference also took note of the proposal to impose a complete ban on the sale and use of vape or electronic cigarettes in the country. 'Also tabled at the meeting were legal opinions from the 126th and 127th Meetings of the National Council for Islamic Religious Affairs (MKI) Muzakarah Committee, along with resolutions from the 2025 Special Meeting of the Muzakarah Committee,' he said. Additionally, Syed Danial said the Conference was further briefed on the need for registration of marriages involving refugees and asylum seekers in Malaysia, as well as the Cabinet Paper regarding a centralised policy on the management of seized and forfeited assets. Present at the meeting were Raja of Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah, Sultan of Kedah Al-Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah and the Yang Dipertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir. Also in attendance were Tengku Mahkota of Kelantan Tengku Muhammad Fakhry Petra, Tunku Temenggong Johor Tunku Idris Iskandar Sultan Ibrahim, and Tengku Arif Bendahara Pahang Tengku Muhammad Iskandar Ri'ayatuddin Shah. Nilai cops arrest woman for allegedly attacking boy, 11, at Mantin grocery store
SEREMBAN, July 16 — Police have arrested a 30-year-old woman for allegedly assaulting an 11-year-old boy at a grocery store in the Sri Palma Villa residential area in Mantin yesterday. Nilai district police chief Supt Abdul Malik Hasim said they received a report from a woman at 3.28pm, stating that her son had been assaulted and threatened by a woman known to them while at the grocery store. 'The incident was reported to have occurred around 12.30 pm yesterday, when the boy was buying a drink at the shop and was suddenly attacked by the suspect, who kicked and stomped on the victim's face and legs. 'The suspect is also alleged to have issued a death threat against the victim. The incident was captured on the store's closed-circuit television system and was also witnessed by a customer who was at the scene,' he said in a statement today. Abdul Malik said the suspect was arrested at 10.58pm yesterday, and preliminary investigations revealed she is a holder of a Person with Disability card and is believed to have mental health issues. He said the suspect was believed to have been hallucinating at the time of the incident and accused the boy of stealing items from the premises, although there was no evidence to support the claim. 'The victim received treatment at Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital in Seremban and was found to have swelling on his nose and bruises on several parts of his legs,' he said. The case is being investigated under Section 323 and Section 506 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt and criminal intimidation. — Bernama
