Sonakshi Sinha has reacted to the Supreme Court's order for the relocation of stray dogs in Delhi-NCR region to shelters. She reposted a post by Dogs of India, which emphasises that street dogs are lacking basic necessities like shelter, vaccination and sterilisation. Alongside this, the actress revealed her honest opinion about the same directive.
An excerpt from the note shared by Sonakshi Sinha on her Instagram stories read, 'Street dogs are not a problem, they are victims. Victims of fear, hunger, disease, neglect, cruelty and abandonment," which highlighted the plight of street dogs in India. The post further claimed that the stray dogs are also prone to various dangers such as accidents and abuse. Moreover, it talks about how the unfortunate canines also witness their puppies often suffering the same fate.
Sonakshi Sinha Slams The Order For Relocation Of Street Dogs
The post further criticises practices like selling, dumping or relocating street dogs to overcrowded shelters, claiming that this step is not in favour of animal welfare. Instead, it emphasises a simple solution for this – spaying (a surgical procedure performed on female animals to remove their ovaries and uterus for effectively preventing them from reproducing, as per a report by the VCA Animal Hospitals) and vaccinating street dogs.
Sharing the post, Sonakshi Sinha wrote, 'Day by day we expose how soulless we have become as a society," adding, 'Every day is a disappointment."
Celebrities Who Slammed The Order For Relocation Of Stray Dogs
Several other prominent celebrities from the industry have reacted to the court's order to relocate street dogs. Janhvi Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Tiger Shroff, Sophie Choudry and many others penned long notes or reposted viral posts which voiced their opinions, calling the decision 'heartbreaking and cruel." They have pointed out how these steps will result in the complete erasure of the stray dog population.
Sophie Choudry Emphasised The Need For A Better Humane Solution
On one of her Instagram stories, Sophie wrote, 'This is absolutely heartbreaking and cruel!! There is no way that shelters will have space. There has to be a better solution. What about the actual menaces out there that should be dealt with first?!!"
She also shared a piece of experience, adding, 'I get that strays can be scary… I've had a pack of them chase after Tia and me on a beach. It was a narrow escape and could have been terrible. I'm just saying there has to be a more humane solution than what has been declared. As a country, we have to do better when it comes to how we deal with ALL animals. There is far too much cruelty that goes without punishment." Shreyanka Mazumdar

Sonakshi Sinha on husband Zaheer Iqbal's effect: I have become nicer to paparazzi because of him
After nearly 15 years in the industry, Sonakshi Sinha says the only way she has stayed grounded is by being authentic: "A lot of actors are misguided, believing they are something that they are not. But if I can show myself authentically to someone, why not? If you keep up a façade, your whole energy is spent in keeping up with it. Main kharch nahin hona chahti uss tarah se." Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal(Photo: Yogen Shah) That same thought drives her latest experiment with fans -a YouTube channel. While long-form content was unfamiliar to her. Sonakshi Sinha says the platform gave her space to connect in an unfiltered way. "When you find something that doesn't feel like work or pressure, it becomes fun," she notes. The actor adds that having the choice of what to put out is liberating. "Although people might feel I am putting my whole life out there, I'm actually not. I'm putting out only how much I want to. It's a small part of me, it's not all my life,' she says, adding, 'Basically YouTube is like my new PR. I'm actually projecting myself the way I want to be projected and not how people want to see me or somebody wants to show me. This is me and I love that.' A regular on her videos is her husband, actor Zaheer Iqbal whose easy-going approach has also changed her attitude towards the paparazzi. "I don't want to get clicked when I go out because that's my time. But with Zaheer, I've my time. become a more welcoming person. His attitude is: instead of cribbing, let's take a pic and leave with a smile. He is a very positive person. I've become nicer to (paps) because of Zaheer." she admits. On the work front, Sonakshi was last seen in her brother Kussh S Sinha's directorial debut Nikita Roy. Working under him, she says, didn't blur professional boundaries: 'You go on set as an actor, and there is a person to direct you; that could be anyone. Here, it happened to be my brother. So, I looked at him in that way, like he's my director and I am his actor.'

Rewriting the laws of romance
A searing romantic drama about identity, power, and the cost of love in the world we live in, Dhadak 2 initiates conversations not usually explored by mainstream Bollywood movies. The directorial debut by Shazia Iqbal is a remake of the Tamil movie Pariyerum Perumal and is getting a lot of critical praise. Actor Tripti Dimri and Siddhant Chaturvedi play the characters of two young law students who have to fight for their relationship. The original films which inspired Dhadak and Dhadak 2 were huge box office hits. Were you under any pressure when you took up the film? Tripti: It depends on how much pressure you take. Honestly, I don't take any pressure at all since it takes away the joy of acting. If you go on the sets with pressure, you won't be able to do justice to the character. From the first day itself, you have to have trust the director. What matters is that you go back home feeling happy and content. Siddhant: I call it a spiritual sequel. Somewhere, the essence is the same, but the world is different. That first one is a colourful film, but this is more gritty and intense; the tone is completely different. However, when we started doing this film, we always felt that we should raise the benchmark for this film. Sometimes sequels are made with an effect, but we wanted it to be better than the first one, with double impact. I think this film has it. I am confident that when you see the film, you will react.
