Prime Minister (PM) Dr. Mostafa Madbouly stated that Egypt has faced significant economic challenges in recent years due to regional and international crises.
However, he added, the country has managed to overcome many of these difficulties, achieving positive GDP growth, a decline in both inflation and unemployment rates, and continued implementation of economic reforms.
He also emphasized Egypt's efforts to support the private sector and improve the investment climate.
Speaking at the 'Egyptians Abroad Conference,' PM added: 'In line with the directives of the President of the Republic, the government has been keen to implement a package of social protection measures aimed at supporting the most vulnerable segments of society.'
It is worth mentioning that, 'Egyptians Abroad Conference' serves as a national platform to foster direct dialogue and engagement between the state and Egyptian expatriates.
It aims to address their concerns, understand their aspirations and proposals, and encourage their involvement in national development plans and strategies.
The regular convening of the conference reflects the state's commitment to maintaining strong ties and open communication with Egyptian communities around the world, while also updating them on the country's progress across various sectors.

Industry minister, automakers discuss localizing car sheet metal production

Egypt's Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel Al-Wazir has held an extensive meeting with leading steel producers and representatives from automotive and bus manufacturing and assembly companies, as part of the state's strategy to promote local manufacturing and deepen production chains. The Monday discussions focused on exploring practical mechanisms to localize automotive sheet metal production in Egypt. Al-Wazir underlined the government's firm commitment to supporting the iron and steel sector, given its critical role in sustaining key industries—particularly the automotive industry. He stressed that localizing automotive sheet metal production is currently a top priority, as it would significantly reduce import costs, increase the proportion of local content, and enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian products in domestic and global markets. The Minister explained that the ministry is developing an integrated strategy based on two main pillars. The first pillar aims to ensure a sustainable legislative and incentive framework, alongside clear implementation plans to support long-term industrial investment. The second focuses on identifying vehicle components that can realistically be manufactured locally, supported by skilled human resources and defined timelines. Al-Wazir noted that the ministry will continue close coordination with all relevant parties—including private sector stakeholders and government institutions—to ensure the efficient and timely execution of this national initiative. He emphasised that localizing automotive sheet metal production is not only a critical step in reducing imports but also serves as a launchpad for broader efforts to expand local manufacturing of vehicle components. This will pave the way for new industrial partnerships aligned with Egypt's economic development goals. The Minister highlighted that the domestic market has solid demand that could underpin the establishment of various feeder industries. He pointed out that Egypt already produces some automotive components that are exported to international markets, reflecting the competitiveness and quality of local manufacturing. Al-Wazir also identified promising opportunities to localize additional key components—including tires, glass, and sheet metal—and affirmed that the ministry is working to capture these opportunities by fostering effective public-private partnerships and creating a supportive environment for sustainable industrial investment. During the meeting, participants reviewed the perspectives of major steel producers on the feasibility of supplying sheet metal tailored to the design and structural needs of different vehicle types. Discussions also addressed production methods for exterior sheet metal, relevant design standards, and technical specifications. The meeting further examined the strategy and estimated production volumes needed to align with the state's broader plan to localize the automotive industry. Al-Wazir announced plans to hold a larger follow-up meeting with vehicle manufacturers and feeder industries to deepen technical discussions. The goal is to ensure that local sheet metal production matches the specifications required by automotive manufacturers. He called for closer coordination between steel producers, car assembly firms, and component manufacturers to integrate supply chains and advance the localization process in line with the national vision. The Minister concluded by stating that localizing automotive sheet metal production represents a qualitative step toward increasing local content and improving the effectiveness of the incentives offered to the automotive sector. This move is expected to boost the sector's regional and international competitiveness by reducing reliance on imports, improving supply chain stability, and enhancing investor confidence in Egypt's industrial landscape—all of which support manufacturers' capacity to meet production and export targets.

Egypt's Foreign Minister discusses Nile water security with Ugandan president

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty met with Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni in Entebbe on Monday to discuss Egypt's 'existential' concerns over its water security and ways to boost bilateral ties, the Egyptian foreign ministry said. Egypt's Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Hani Sewilam, also attended the high-level meeting during the official visit to Uganda. In a statement, the ministry said Abdelatty conveyed Egypt's concerns regarding the Nile River and stressed the need to adhere to international law for shared water resources. He voiced Egypt's rejection of 'unilateral actions' in the eastern Nile Basin and affirmed that Cairo 'will take all necessary measures under international law to protect its water security.' 'The waters of the Nile are an existential issue for Egypt,' Abdelatty told the Ugandan president. The minister of water resources and irrigation reiterated that respect for international law on the Nile River is the basis for positive cooperation to achieve the common interest of all basin countries. During the meeting, Abdelatty, who conveyed greetings from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, also called for the formation of a joint Egyptian-Ugandan business council to boost investment in sectors like construction, energy, and pharmaceuticals. He highlighted the potential for joint projects through a financing mechanism recently established by Egypt to support development in southern Nile Basin countries. The officials also discussed regional security developments, including the situation in the Horn of Africa and counter-terrorism efforts. For his part, President Museveni asked for his greetings to be passed to President Sisi and stressed his country's keenness to enhance bilateral cooperation, the statement said. Separately, Abdelatty and Sewilam also met with Ugandan Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Henry Oryem Okello, in Kampala. In that meeting, they discussed similar issues of economic cooperation and regional security, and Abdelatty delivered a grant of agricultural equipment and light transport vehicles to a Ugandan non-governmental organisation that supports youth and small-scale farmers.

Under pressure, Netanyahu says Gaza war plan will be revised - War on Gaza

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday that the military's Gaza war plan will be revised, amid mounting domestic pressure following the release of videos showing emaciated Israeli captives pleading for help and describing going days without food. Speaking after a week of public outcry, Netanyahu reiterated the government's three stated objectives: the destruction of Hamas, the return of Israeli captives, and ensuring that Gaza no longer poses a threat to Israel. The Israeli PM also claimed that new orders for the military are imminent. On Monday, Netanyahu stated that he would be updating the Gaza war plan, still aiming to achieve his three objectives: the destruction of Hamas, the return of Israeli captives, and ensuring that Gaza is no longer a threat to Tel Aviv. However, domestic criticism continues to mount. On Monday, opposition leader Yair Lapid said: 'The Israeli government no longer knows why soldiers continue to die in Gaza. Only the Netanyahu government refuses to discuss the question of how the war will end. It has not presented any plan, any political vision.' Earlier in the day, 600 former Israeli security officials called on US President Donald Trump to "steer" Israel toward ending the war. 'Stop the war!' Meanwhile, around 1,000 Israeli artists, writers, and cultural figures signed a petition on Sunday titled Stop the Horror in Gaza, demanding an immediate ceasefire. The petition precedes a United Nations (UN) Security Council session scheduled for Monday to discuss the fate of Israeli captives still held in Gaza. The petition reads: 'Against our values and will, we find ourselves complicit in the horrific actions carried out by our government in Gaza: the killing of children and civilians, policies of starvation, mass displacement, and the senseless destruction of entire cities.' It garnered 974 named signatories, including prominent cultural figures, and 62 anonymous supporters. 'Horror on a historic scale is taking place before our eyes,' the statement continues. 'We have the responsibility as humans and as Israelis facing horrors happening in our name against a population located a few kilometres from us, in an impossible reality and terrible suffering.' It concludes: 'Do not issue illegal orders and do not obey them! Do not commit war crimes! Do not abandon the principles of human morality and the values of Judaism! Stop the war.' The petition is the latest in a growing wave of efforts urging Netanyahu's government to reach a ceasefire and captive exchange deal. Weekly demonstrations have continued in Tel Aviv and other cities, while many families of captives say they have no recourse but to speak out through statements, social media, and rallies. In response to public anger, Hamas's military wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades, said the captives were not being deliberately starved, but receive the same limited rations as fighters and civilians under siege. 'They (the captives) won't be offered special privileges while our people suffer starvation and siege,' the group said. A humanitarian catastrophe As pressure builds inside Israel, conditions in Gaza continue to deteriorate. The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) has warned that the Strip now faces the 'worst-case scenario of famine.' Earlier in the day, dozens of Palestinians were killed by Israeli fire while trying to access food. Another 16 were killed Sunday while waiting for aid. The IPC warned: 'People's access to food across Gaza is now alarmingly erratic and extremely perilous.' The famine reflects the wider humanitarian collapse triggered by Israel's 22-month genocidal war and systemic starvation policies, with the UN previously declaring Gaza 'the hungriest place on Earth,' and 100 percent of the population at risk of famine as of May. Since mid-May, the US- and Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) has distributed limited flour rations to starving, aid-seeking Palestinians. However, GHF aid distribution points have been condemned by tens of international aid agencies and humanitarian organizations as a "death trap", with Israeli soldiers killing over 1,400 aid-seeking Palestinians at their centres since its inception.
