Koenigsegg Is Taking Hypercars To A Whole New Level Tomorrow

As enthusiasts of high-performance cars, we're really being spoiled lately. HWA is taking its epic 190E restomod to the track, the people at Toyota are working on a new Lexus supercar, and the astonishing new Corvette ZR1 family has been making waves everywhere. If none of those raise your pulse, perhaps this will: Koenigsegg has posted a series of clips that tease a new hypercar (or megacar, in Koenigsegg parlance). The Swedish purveyor of speed hasn't said much, though. The most recent of three teaser posts has the caption "Perfection is a moving target," and the one before that says Koenigsegg is "crafting a legend." Happily, the first post tells us when we'll know more: 25 June 2025. That's tomorrow...
The post above gives us a glimpse of the front end of the car, with the Koenigsegg badge at the bottom of the frame and a NACA duct directly above it. Behind that, exposed carbon fiber appears to indicate an aero bridge on the clamshell, likely evacuating air that enters at the lower front bumper like the Ferrari S-duct, or, closer to home, Koenigsegg's own Gemera four-seater. The second post in the trilogy also calls to mind past Koenigsegg designs, revealing a rear end with a massive wing that seems not dissimilar to that of the track-focused Jesko Absolut. However, in this application, there's a vertically oriented central stop light giving strong motorsport vibes. Finally, the most recent post seems to show more aerodynamic devices, including vents in the front wheel arches that likely help smooth airflow running along the sides of the car.
So what are we looking at here? Well, it's highly unlikely that Koenigsegg would be building a hardcore version of the Gemera, and the imagery appears to show something very sleek with a small cockpit, so it's certainly a two-seater. The easiest guess to make is that this is a more hardcore, more focused, potentially track-only version of the Jesko. Could this be a Nürburgring record chaser or a hint at an entry into motorsports? Koenigsegg hasn't had the greatest luck at the Nürburgring, with a few crashes marring its early visits to the Green Hell, and the last time it tried to enter endurance racing, the rules changed before the CCGT could compete. When asked by Top Gear last year if he would ever consider dipping another toe into the World Endurance Championship, company founder and CEO Christian von Koenigsegg bemoaned the many hoops a car must jump through to meet Balance of Performance regulations, arguing that the current regulations deprive automakers of the ability to showcase their unique individual innovations. Thus, we doubt that this will be a track-only special, though the aero devices indicate it will be one of the most hardcore 'Seggs yet. Other possibilities include that it may be an all-new model or even a hardcore take on the CC850, but that sort of thing is generally revealed at Monterey Car Week. Our best guess is that this is a one-off Jesko Absolut turned up to 11 for a single wealthy commissioner, but the caption "perfection is a moving target" could easily apply to any of the Swedish company's creations. Whatever the facts, we'll bring them to you as soon as possible tomorrow.

This Ruf Yellowbird Is Extra Special, and Not Just Because It's the Wrong Color

The latest car news, reviews, and features. The Ruf CTR, often known by its nickname 'Yellowbird,' was a Porsche 911 Carrera so heavily customized that it essentially became a new car. A few were made to the same spec, but only one was painted Bordeaux Red and personally driven by Alois Ruf Jr. That's the car we're looking at here, and it's for sale. This 1989 Ruf CTR1 Lightweight, unofficially dubbed 'Redbird,' is one of six extra-lean CTRs ever made. To earn the Lightweight designation, some steel body panels were swapped for aluminum; there's no center console, no roll cage, no power brakes, no sunroof, no radio, some chassis sound-deadening foam is gone, and the seats are extra-light ones. RM Sotheby's The twin-turbo flat-six bored to 3.4-liters, Ruf five-speed transmission, and chassis reinforcements are still present, though. These cars claimed 211 mph in 1987—a ridiculous speed for a vehicle this delicate in any era—letting it win Road & Track's 'World's Fastest Car' shootout that year. But '89 was when the 'Faszination on the Nürburgring' video was released, cementing Ruf's awesomeness in the minds of anybody who had the chance to see it. This particular car, the ninth CTR built (of 29 total, six of which were Lightweight models), was reportedly stored at Alois Ruf Jr.'s house and used as his personal car to some extent before being delivered to its first real owner. Mr. Ruf himself was, of course, the tuner whose obsession with tinkering on 911s got one of the most elite Porsche customization houses into the annals of history after taking over Ruf from his father (also named Alois). But even without the fun backstory, the spec on this thing is just incredible. The red-over-dark-brown has a real richness to it. I feel like I can smell the interior through some of these photos. I mean, the whole car is just delightful to look at. Sadly, for most of us, looking is all we'll be doing with it—R.M. Sotheby's is auctioning it at Monterey this summer, but expects it to fetch between $4.5 and $5 million. RM Sotheby's Know about any other extra-special special Porsches? Drop me a line at

2026 Toyota Grand Highlander Barely Costs More Than Last Year

2026 Toyota Grand Highlander Barely Costs More Than Last Year originally appeared on Autoblog. Minor Price Bumps Across The Range The RAV4 is the world's best-selling car, as well as America's most popular Toyota, but in second place is the Grand Highlander, a spacious three-row SUV that will soon be joined by an all-electric Highlander little brother. In the meantime, Toyota is ensuring that the 2026 Grand Highlander will sell as strongly as its predecessor by applying a nominal price increase for the new model year. Most trims get a price bump of $500, with one excpetion now $580 pricier. With this, the Grand Highlander starts at $41,360 before the obligatory destination charge of $1,495. 2026 Grand Highlander Pricing In Detail View the 2 images of this gallery on the original article The entry-level trim is the LE, and as with the 2025 model, adding AWD to any trim (unless it's already equipped as standard) costs $1,600. The only change to the lineup is that the Hybrid Nightshade now gets a black badge overlay, and it seems that this alteration doesn't come free, as this is the only trim to get a slightly higher price increase of $580 to start at $53,190. As above, all pricing in the table below excludes the $1,495 destination charge for either model year. Trim MY2025 MY2026 AWD Difference LE $40,860 $41,360 +$1,600 +$500 Hybrid LE $44,210 $44,710 Std. +$500 XLE $43,630 $44,130 +$1,600 +$500 Hybrid XLE $45,380 $45,880 +$1,600 +$500 Limited $48,360 $48,860 +$1,600 (Limited XLE) +$500 Hybrid Limited $51,710 $52,210 Std. +$500 Hybrid MAX Limited $54,690 $55,190 Std. +$500 Hybrid Nightshade $52,610 $53,190 Std. +$580 Platinum $54,045 $54,545 Std. +$500 Hybrid MAX Platinum $58,775 $59,275 Std. +$500 The standard engine on offer is a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder generating 265 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque, while the Hybrid gets a 2.5-liter four-cylinder paired with an electric motor to produce 245 hp. At the top of the range is the Hybrid MAX powertrain, featuring a combination of the 2.4-liter turbo-four and rear-mounted electric motor that together produce a total of 362 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. Chevy Will Like The New PricingWhile the price increases are nominal, as they should be for a carryover model that is produced within the borders of the United States, they do make the Grand Highlander slightly more expensive than its Chevrolet Traverse competition, which carries a base MSRP of $40,800 for 2026 (excluding $1,895 for destination and delivery). Moreover, base model for base model, the SUV with a bowtie badge is more powerful, offering 328 hp and 326 lb-ft of torque from its 2.5-liter turbo. Meanwhile, the 2025 Kia Telluride starts at $36,390, and the 2025 Mazda CX-90 costs $38,045. With price increases likely for the 2026 variants of both these SUVs, the gap to Toyota will surely close, and we expect the Grand Highlander to continue racking strong sales for Toyota before a more significantly refreshed model arrives in the next year or so. 2026 Toyota Grand Highlander Barely Costs More Than Last Year first appeared on Autoblog on Aug 1, 2025 This story was originally reported by Autoblog on Aug 1, 2025, where it first appeared.

'Game On:' Ford CEO Responds to the Corvette's Nürburgring Record

The Ford Mustang GTD only held the record for the fastest American car to lap the Nürburgring Nordschleife for a little over 7 months. Ford announced a 6:57.685 lap back in December , and bettered it with a 6:52.07 a few months later , but Chevrolet just took the crown with the Corvette ZR1 and ZR1X. Ford's response? "Game on." That came directly from CEO Jim Farley, who replied "[c]ongrats to the Corvette team. Game on!" on an Instagram post from the official Corvette page. The Drive was the first to bring our attention to Farley's comment. Ford could go back to the 'Ring with the Mustang GTD, but that car is at somewhat of a disadvantage to the ZR1 and ZR1X. The Mustang GTD weighs over 4,300 pounds based on EPA documents that Road & Track reported on back in February, while Car and Driver measured the ZR1 at 3,831 pounds. Chevy hasn't revealed a weight figure for the ZR1X, but it's reasonable to expect it to eclipse the 4,000-pound mark. The Mustang GTD has 815 horsepower, which is a lot, but the ZR1 makes 1,064 hp, and the ZR1X ups it to 1,250 hp. Power and weight figures aren't everything, but they do count for a ton. Still, the GTD has a very advanced suspension system, huge Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires, and an extremely advanced aero package that includes a Formula 1-style drag-reduction system to stall the wing on straights. In any case, we don't know if Ford has anything planned. Farley surely wants to take back the record—he's a racer himself and he's pushing performance hard with the Mustang—but Ford isn't going to go to the 'Ring unless it knows it at least has a chance of beating the Corvette's time. There could be more time in the GTD, but Ford may also need to wait until it has its next, greatest thing to beat Chevy.
