Dawn Staley has suddenly emerged as a potential candidate for one of the most intriguing jobs in the NBA.
Since taking over South Carolina's basketball team in 2008, Staley has proven herself as an elite coach. She has won three national titles and has made it to the Final Four a whopping seven times over the past decade alone.

Even though Staley hasn't shown any interest in leaving South Carolina, she's apparently on the New York Knicks' radar. This was first reported by Knicks Fan TV on Saturday.
"According to league sources, both Taylor Jenkins and Mike Brown are headed for a second round of interviews. Micah Nori is still being considered. The Knicks have also reached out to South Carolina HC Dawn Staley about the job," Knicks Fan TV wrote.
Staley has no NBA coaching experience, but her résumé warrants an interview at the minimum.

"It was important for me to have a guaranteed contract, but to have a guaranteed contract you have to give them something," Staley said, via Greenville News. "I will never leave here to coach another college job. I have the best of the best here."
Back in 2021, Staley talked about the pressure the first-ever female NBA head coach would face.
"A lot of people would be out there, just waiting for you to make a mistake, waiting for you to be wrong," Staley said. "There's a whole dynamic that men, white or Black, just don't have to think about. It's a female thing. The expectation will be so much greater than the male coach. So much greater."
If Staley were to become the next head coach of the Knicks, there'd be even more pressure on her shoulders since the team is built to contend for a title.

USC Watches Big Ten Rival Add 4-Star Power Back

USC Watches Big Ten Rival Add 4-Star Power Back originally appeared on Athlon Sports. USC continues to hold the top spot in the national recruiting rankings. One Big Ten rival, however, added a four-star power back who was on the Trojans' radar early on the trail. Advertisement Amari Latimer chose Wisconsin in shutting down his college football recruiting process Saturday. The 6-foot-1, 220-pound Latimer held a litany of scholarship offers. Including the Trojans, who offered back on Feb. 6. Ironically, Latimer's offer came before USC skyrocketed to the top of the rankings with an aggressive February blitz. The native of Tyrone, Georgia pulled in approximately 50 scholarship offers. The Sandy Creek High star reeled in one other Californian offer, but from Atlantic Coast Conference representative Cal. So how did Wisconsin win over the power back compared to USC, Cal, Big Ten champion Oregon and the long list of power conference suitors for him? His father explained it to Evan Flood of 247Sports. The Badgers even offered him before USC and Lincoln Riley made their pursuit -- as Wisconsin got on Latimer during the summer of 2023. Latimer became drawn to the pipeline of backs who have strolled through Madison. Names like Jonathan Taylor and Heisman Trophy winner Ron Dayne come to mind. He's also going to join his older brother Geimere Latimer on the roster, as the cornerback came via the transfer portal. But now USC has a future 220-pound locomotive to game plan for in Big Ten play. The Trojans visit Camp Randall in the 2026 season. Thunder Make Surprise Trade Just Days After Winning NBA Championship

Thunder Make Surprise Trade Just Days After Winning NBA Championship originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Oklahoma City Thunder are roughly a week removed from capturing their first NBA championship since relocating from Seattle in 2008. Advertisement After finishing the season with a league-best 68–14 record, and led by league MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the Thunder capped their historic run with a Game 7 victory over the Indiana Pacers in the NBA Finals. Despite the celebration, Oklahoma City has quickly shifted into offseason mode. They added two new players through the NBA draft: first-round pick Thomas Sorber and second-round selection Brooks Barnhizer. With their core roster intact, Thunder GM Sam Presti made a somewhat surprising move Saturday evening, agreeing to trade Dillon Jones and a second-round pick to the Washington Wizards in exchange for Colby Jones—who the Thunder are reportedly expected to waive in order to free up a roster spot. The move comes as somewhat of a surprise, given that the Thunder selected Dillon Jones with the 26th overall pick in the 2024 NBA draft out of Weber State. While Jones struggled to carve out a consistent role in the Thunder's rotation during his rookie year, it's notable that the organization is already moving on from a recent first-round pick after just one season. Advertisement The decision appears to be aimed at clearing roster space—whether for their incoming rookies, a potential undrafted free agent, or an upcoming move in free agency. Jones, 23, spent most of his rookie season with the Oklahoma City Blue in the G League, where he averaged 13.3 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game. Their core group is under contract, and with extension decisions looming for rising stars Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren, those deals are expected to become top priorities for Sam Presti in the near future. Galaxy play the Earthquakes to a 1-1 draw in the 104th California Clásico

Marco Reus scored in the 70th minute and the LA Galaxy played the San Jose Earthquakes to a 1-1 draw on Saturday night in the 104th edition of the California Clásico. LA (1-14-5) is unbeaten in its last eight road matches (Stanford Stadium & PayPal Park) across all competitions against San Jose (7-8-5) dating to June 26, 2021. San Jose native Beau Leroux opened the scoring in the 16th minute with a shot into the upper-right corner for his fourth of the season. He settled Mark-Anthony Kaye's cross with his left foot and curled in a shot with his right from the top of the 18-yard box. San Jose goalkeeper Daniel stopped an initial attempt in the 70th, but it bounced right back to Reus for an easy touch home. It was Reus' first game wearing the captain's armband. Daniel made several key saves. He came out of his area to deny Joseph Paintsil on a one-on-one opportunity in the 60th. He algo got a hand on Gabriel Pec's shot on a counterattack in the 88th. The Galaxy entered with just three of a possible 33 points on the road this season. San Jose announced the club sold 40,000 tickets for the game at Stanford Stadium.
