Boxing ref reveals security escorted him to his car after Gallen-Williams bout following threats
Gallen claimed a narrow win over bitter rival Williams in their long-awaited grudge match, leaving fight fans debating who really won the bout.
The Cronulla Sharks icon took the verdict with two judges awarding him the eight-round bout on scores of 77-74 and 76-75, with the third giving Williams the edge, 77-74.
Fear, one of Australia's best referees, had security guards walk him to his vehicle after the bout because of the threats he was receiving, reports News Corp.
'I'm furious about it,' Fear said.
'People around the ring could hear the abusive language.'

'And then at the end, I looked down to the Combat Sport Inspector and said, "Get security here right now." I want them out of the ring and out of the venue.'
Williams could be seen persistently holding throughout the bout to neutralise the pressure from Gallen.
The tactic backfired in the seventh round when referee Fear penalised Williams with a point deduction after repeated warnings.
Had that point not been deducted, the 39-year-old would have walked away with a draw.
'I told Sonny Bill and Paul Gallen there would be no holding,' Fear said.
'It's illegal to hold in boxing. I didn't want to be pulling them apart all night because they're a lot bigger than me.
'Sonny Bill blatantly disregarded my instructions. He didn't listen.
'There's rules in rugby league and there's rules in boxing. If you do the wrong thing you get penalised.'
Fear went on to say that he was copping abuse from Williams' team throughout the bout.
'Everyone's going me,' he said.
'But at the end of the day he didn't get the decision because he disrespected the rules of boxing. Simple as that. Sonny Bill has got to take responsibility.'
Williams' camp was indeed furious with the result, with his manager Khoder Nasser calling the decision 'criminal'.
'Only in Australia. No other [boxing] commission in the world would have a referee like that,' he told Stuff.
'...the last judge lives in Cronulla [Gallen's home town]. A judge from Cronulla. Can you believe these authorities? To have a bloke from the same neck of the woods as the other guy. It's criminal.'
The result leaves Gallen with a pro boxing record of 15-3-1 with eight wins by knockout, while Williams sits at 9-2, with four wins by KO.

Footy great launches blistering attack on former teammate who called him a coward and got VERY personal: 'Don't ever mention my son's name again'
Former NSW Blues star Aaron Woods has savaged former Origin teammate Ryan Hoffman after the backrower infamously labelled him a 'coward' ahead of game two of the series in Perth. At the time, a fired-up Hoffman defended his close friend - Queensland coach Billy Slater - after Woods labelled the decorated fullback a 'grub ' on Triple M radio. Ex-Melbourne Storm forward Hoffman claimed Woods asked Slater to take a photo with his son Buster earlier this year in Brisbane during Magic Round - before suggesting the prop turned media identity then slammed the Origin coach on air to create an aggressive narrative. Speaking on the Kenty podcast recently, Woods offered his version of events. 'Ryan Hoffman came out and called me a coward, and then he backflipped and said he didn't,' Woods said. 'We had a conversation. I said, "Look, you can call me whatever you want, just don't ever mention my son's name again with things that didn't happen", because Buster didn't get a photo with Billy.' Hoffman and Woods played together in the 2014 series (pictured) which NSW won to end eight years of heartache against Queensland Woods then recalled what actually unfolded with Slater. 'We were up at the top boxes of Suncorp Stadium (during Magic Round), I was going to take my little fella downstairs, Buster, because he was going to be a ball boy for the three o'clock game on the Saturday arvo, which was Newcastle versus Souths,' he added. 'As I was going down the lift, we were right at the back, everyone jumped in, then we get down to I think level 3, that's where the Channel 9 and Fox (Sports) boxes are. 'Billy Slater rocks in with his producer from Channel 9. We go downstairs, everyone gets out, Billy's there at the front, I literally walk out, I walk past, I shake his hand, 'hey Bill', I say to Buster to shake his hand. 'Once he shakes his hand we walk away, Buster goes 'who's that Dad?' 'I go 'mate, he's one of the best fullbacks to ever play the game'. My young bloke is only five. And that is all that happened. 'So from that, there's only three people that would've said something to Gordy (Tallis) about that. So someone's dropped the lip and had a little complaint, wasn't too happy.' It followed NRL 360 panel member Gorden Tallis also taking aim at Woods for labelling Slater a grub ahead of game two at Optus Stadium. An emotional Slater responded by suggesting Woods was perhaps unaware of the mental health concerns his words could have on people, before referencing late Maroons coach Paul Green, who suffered from CTE. Slater later retracted his comments and rang Green's wife Amanda to apologise.

Wallabies lose key figure to injury in blow ahead of third Lions Test
Australia prop Allan Alaalatoa has been ruled out of the third Test against the British and Irish Lions in a major blow for the Wallabies. The vastly experienced tighthead had started the first two games of the three-match series but will miss the final encounter at Sydney's Accor Stadium this weekend. Alaalatoa was taken off at half time of the second Test at the MCG having sustained a shoulder injury that will prevent his participation in the third encounter. Wing Harry Potter also looks set to miss the match after suffering a hamstring injury last weekend. Prop Aidan Ross, capped once by the All Blacks in 2022 but now eligible for the land of his birth, has been summoned to the Australia squad in Sydney and could press for a Wallabies debut in Alaalatoa's absence. Tom Robertson has provided back-up to Alaalatoa off the bench so far in the series, while Taniela Tupou and Zane Nonggorr will also hope to come into consideration having been unused by Joe Schmidt thus far. The Wallabies trail 2-0 and will be playing for only pride on Saturday, but lock Nick Frost says the side are ready to use their 'fire in the belly' to prevent the tourists completing a clean sweep. 'Any game you play, especially for your country, any Test match is big to get up for. So we're really looking forward to the weekend," Frost said. "There's a bit of fire in the belly from the last couple of games, and you're playing in Sydney, for a lot of the boys, that's [their] hometown. You're playing for your nation, playing for your family first and foremost too."

‘Never watching this nonsense again' rant fans as major league confirms two-team expansion for 2026 season
Three new clubs could be in the league OUT MY LEAGUE 'Never watching this nonsense again' rant fans as major league confirms two-team expansion for 2026 season SUPER LEAGUE clubs have brought forward the expansion to 14 clubs to next season. It was expected the addition of two more sides would not come until 2027, to tie in with the next broadcasting deal. 2 The Super League will expand to 14 teams for the 2026 season Credit: PA 2 Two teams will be selected by an independent panel Credit: Getty But at a meeting of top flight sides in Leeds today, the majority voted to expand for 2026. It has angered fans, who reacted: "I'm never watching this nonsense again." Another said: "The death has started." But other disagreed, commenting: "Finally! About time. This should have happened years ago." READ MORE IN SPORT WADE IN Christian Wade's attitude sees him make mark in THIRD professional sport IMG's grading system will decide 12 of the clubs who will make up the larger competition, which will see the end of despised loop fixtures and keeping the 13 home matches. However, two teams others will be chosen by an independent panel. This means those from outside the top 14 can be picked if they do not make the 12, so the prospect of Toulouse Olympique being overlooked is open. And with Salford set to still be relegated despite the expansion, there is the prospect of three clubs, including Bradford, coming up. BEST ONLINE CASINOS - TOP SITES IN THE UK If the Red Devils do stay in, that will mean a miraculous escape after months of chaos under the shambolic ownership of Sire Kailahi and Curtiz Brown. However, a Bulls' return would spark many complaints given the link with new Rugby League Commercial chair Nigel Wood, who headed the "club-led strategic review". Until March, he was chairman at Odsal – the condition of which, with one seated and covered stand - is another source of anger among supporters. And a raising of the overseas quota rules, allowing teams to have ten foreign players from 2026, has raised fears of a dilution of talent across 14 teams. London Broncos, currently 10th in the Championship and Oldham, only promoted from League One last year, are also keen on a place at the top table. A Super League statement said: 'The 12 existing Super League clubs have voted to extend the competition to 14 teams for the 2026 season, subject to conditions. 'This would be done by combining the club grading system introduced to determine Super League membership as part of the sport's long-term strategic partnership with IMG in 2022, with an independent panel to be chaired by Lord Jonathan Caine. 'The top 12 clubs under grading at the conclusion of the 2025 domestic season will therefore be joined by two clubs recommended by that panel – provided the panel judges there are two applications of sufficient merit against the set criteria. 'The Super League clubs have the right to determine the number of the clubs in the competition. 'The possibility of immediate expansion to 14 clubs was one of a number of options put to a meeting of the existing 12 clubs.'
