Auburn baseball announces pitching rotation for Ole Miss series The No. 6 Tigers will send out a familiar rotation this weekend to close out the regular season.
The Auburn Tigers have been playing great as the regular season ends. They have one more series before the start of the SEC Baseball Tournament.
Starting Thursday, the Tigers will have a three-game series in Oxford, Mississippi, against the Ole Miss Rebels. It will be a test on the road with Ole Miss possessing a 23-7 record at home. They are 35-17 overall and are No. 9 in the SEC with a 14-13 record.
The series will be a test for the Auburn pitching staff. Ole Miss is ninth in the SEC with a batting average of .284 and has hit 97 home runs. Austin Fawley leads the team with 16 home runs, and three other players have ten or more. The Tigers announced the starting rotation for the series on Wednesday.
Game one: Cam Tilly (Thursday)
Cam Tilly will be on the mound first for the Tigers in game one. Tilly picked up a win in the Tigers 24-2 win over South Carolina in game one of their series last weekend. He pitched five innings with six strikeouts and only allowed two runs. He is 3-1 on the season, and looking to pick up more wins than he did last year when he had the same record.
Game two: Samuel Dutton (Friday)
When Samuel Dutton takes the mound on Friday he will be looking to rebound from a bad performance. In game two against South Carolina, Dutton did not play the best baseball. He pitched four innings allowing five runs from eight hits. He has been the Tigers best pitcher for most of the season. He has a 6-2 record with an ERA of 2.86. Dutton is eighth in the SEC with 85 strikeouts.
Game three: Christian Chatterton (Saturday)
Christian Chatterton has been playing great and will have the opportunity to close the series on Saturday. Chatterton is 4-1 on the season, and has made things difficult for opposing batters. Before giving up three runs versus South Carolina, he went four games without allowing a run.

CHICAGO — Shane Smith pitched three-hit ball into the sixth inning, and the Chicago White Sox beat the Detroit Tigers 8-1 on Tuesday night to stop a four-game slide. Michael A. Taylor homered and drove in four runs for Chicago, which had dropped seven of eight overall. Smith (2-3) struck out six in 5 1/3 scoreless innings for his first win since April 24. It was the first home win for the White Sox against the Tigers since June 4, 2023. They had lost a franchise-record 11 straight home games versus Detroit. Dillon Dingler hit an RBI double in the seventh to account for the Tigers' only run. The AL Central leaders had won seven of eight, including a 13-1 victory in the series opener. Taylor started in center field in place of Luis Robert Jr. , who is making some adjustments at the plate and got the day off. Chicago opened a 4-0 lead when Taylor hit a three-run drive off Tyler Holton with two out in the sixth. It was his third homer of the season. Austin Slater tacked on a two-run double in the seventh against Dylan Smith on a bullpen day for Detroit. The Tigers went 1 for 8 with runners in scoring position and stranded nine overall. Chicago jumped in front in the fourth. Brenan Hanifee replaced Brant Hurter (2-1) and committed a throwing error to help set up Taylor's bases-loaded walk. The Tigers loaded the bases with one out in the eighth, but Wenceel Pérez struck out swinging against Brandon Eisert before Dingler lined out to right. The White Sox improved to 3-15 against the AL Central this season. They went 10-42 against the division last year. Tigers right-hander Sawyer Gipson-Long is expected to make his season debut on Wednesday. He is coming back from elbow and hip surgeries. The White Sox are going with a bullpen day. ___ AP MLB:
