‘Snehakkoottu': Here's everything about the Malayalam serial that celebrates 'happily divorced' Pallavi
Malayalam television continues to evolve, and Snehakkoottu is a shining example of how bold storytelling and fresh perspectives are changing the face of serials. The show has not only crossed 250 episodes since its premiere in August 2024 but has also sparked conversations around divorce, self-worth, and second chances in love.
The story
At the heart of Snehakkoottu is the story of
Pallavi
, a woman who fights not to save her marriage, but to escape it. The one-line pitch — a woman fighting for her right to divorce — is a bold deviation from the usual portrayal of sacrificial heroines in Malayalam serials. The show follows Pallavi's journey from a toxic arranged marriage with Indran to reclaiming her life and freedom.
The show introduces Sethumadhavan, played by
Krishna Kumar
, as the unexpected hero.
Once just the event manager at Pallavi and Indran's wedding, Sethu becomes Pallavi's anchor as she navigates the painful journey of divorce. The narrative has now progressed to a hopeful phase, with Pallavi officially divorced and beginning to envision a new chapter with Sethu.
The cast
The serial stars Shilji Maria as Pallavi, alongside Krishna Kumar, Raihan, Vidhya, Julie, Diya, Anand, Saji Surya, Naveen Arakkal, and Devi Chandana, delivering powerful performances.

Crossover episode adds spark
Adding more excitement, Snehakkoottu recently featured a crossover episode with Pavithram, bringing popular characters Vikram and Vedha into Pallavi's world — a move that fans of both serials thoroughly enjoyed.
The 'original tale'
Unlike many serials that follow adapted storylines, Snehakkoottu boasts an original script, which has earned it critical and viewer appreciation. Its popularity has now crossed borders with a Kannada adaptation titled Snehada Kadhalalli, which is also gaining traction.

Sonali Bendre's sunset-hued saree with appliqué blouse took 500 hours of labour
(Image Credits: Instagram) Sonali Bendre's unique sense of style perfectly blends nostalgia with sheer elegance. Transcending time, her latest outfit is yet another testament to her evergreen class and aura, which serves as a beautiful and romantic sunset tale. Her latest appearance in a stunning, shaded chiffon saree by Nachiket Barve is a mere continuation of an appealing narrative that requires your sincere attention. Dyed in warm sunset hues that moved from the shades of saffron to deep scarlet, the six yards of grace looked nothing short of spectacular in its own way. She wore this piece from the designer's Caravan collection, which dates back 13 years and was inspired by the Silk Route. Dipped in gradient sunset shades with an armoured blouse, this new collaboration looked absolutely mesmerising. (Image Credits: Instagram) Crafted in gossamer-thin chiffon saree and dyed by hand to mimic the sky transitioning through dusk, the colours melt graciously into each other. However, the standout moment was the creation of the blouse that truly set the look apart. It's the designer's trademark appliqué work, which required 500 hours of labour and featured seven different types of flowers. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like These Photos Captured the Exact Wrong Moment Read More Undo 10 Indian saris every woman should have in her wardrobe Enriched with sequin work, beading, thread embroidery, bugle beads, and cutwork, the intricacy looked breathtaking, taking the haute couture level a notch higher. (Image Credits: Instagram) Sonali kept her look subtle and styled it with oxidised silver earrings from Tribe Amrapali featuring the label's signature chand motifs with orange stones that complemented the saree's ombre touch. Keeping her makeup soft and radiant with a dewy finish, she defined her eyes with kohl and mascara and completed the fair look with a rose-toned lip. Keeping up with the nostalgic drama, Sonali tied her hair in a half-up with a bouffant, making this entire fit a perfect choice for season after season.

Ranya Rao gold smuggling case: Karnataka Govt reinstates senior IPS officer father; posted as DGP
(Picture Courtesy: Facebook) The Karnataka government has reinstated senior IPS officer Dr. K. Ramachandra Rao, who had been on compulsory leave since March this year. Rao, a 1993-batch officer, was sent on leave after his stepdaughter, Kannada actor Ranya Rao, was arrested in a high-profile gold smuggling case. In a fresh order by the Karnataka Government, the state administration announced that the earlier directive has been revoked and Rao has been posted as Director General of Police, Directorate of Civil Rights Enforcement, with immediate effect. The posting comes in an upgraded vacant position, signaling his full return to official duties. Check the order here: (Picture Courtesy: Facebook) Background to the controversy Dr. Rao was serving as Managing Director of the Karnataka State Police Housing and Infrastructure Development Corporation when his name surfaced in connection with the smuggling case. In March, Ranya Rao was detained at Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport with 14.2 kg of gold worth Rs 12.56 crore while returning from Dubai. During the probe, a protocol officer at the airport told the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) that he had facilitated the actor's travel under instructions from the DGP. Rao, however, firmly denied the allegations, describing himself as a 'heartbroken parent' and stating he only learned of her arrest through the media, as Ranya had been living separately following her recent marriage. Current status of the accused The Conservation of Foreign Exchange and Prevention of Smuggling Activities (COFEPOSA) Advisory Board recently ordered one-year detention for Ranya Rao and her co-accused — Tarun Kondaru Raju and Sahil Jain. The directive, issued by the DRI on May 23, also prevents them from applying for bail during this period. Meanwhile, on the work front, Ranya Rao has acted in several films including 'Pataki', 'Wagah' and 'Maanikya'

Princess Anne's 75th birthday portrait: New hair, classic Festoon Tiara, and Sir Tim by her side
for Buckingham Palace Princess Anne is marking her 75th with a fresh look and a familiar sparkle. A new portrait released ahead of her birthday shows the Princess Royal standing with her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence. The image was taken before the French state banquet at Windsor Castle in July. The first thing people will notice is her hair. Anne has worn a similar bouffant style for about five decades. In this portrait she switches to a smooth chignon. It is elegant, neat, and suits the formal setting. The change is rare for her, which is why the photo drew quick attention. The second talking point is the tiara. Anne chose the Festoon Tiara, a long-time favorite in her rotation. She received it as a gift in 1973 after christening a ship for the Worldwide Shipping Group. The design sits low and balanced, which works well with the new hair. Together they create a cleaner frame around her face. Photo byfor Buckingham Palace The portrait also doubles as a quiet nod to partnership. Sir Tim stands with her, as he often does at major state events. The two married in 1992 and keep a low profile. Their presence together in the birthday image sets a warm tone as family plans take shape for the coming weeks. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Belarus: Unsold Sofas at Bargain Prices (Prices May Surprise You) Sofas | Search Ads Search Now Undo There is context behind the timing. The palace shared the photo one week before her August 15 birthday to start the celebrations. It was shot by royal photographer Chris Jackson. He captured it at Windsor before the banquet held for the French state visit from July 8 to 10. The result is formal but relaxed, a look that fits Anne's usual style. Fashion notes aside, the image also lands after a busy and challenging year. Anne remains one of the most active working royals by engagement count. Last year she briefly stepped back after a horse-related incident near her home. She returned to duties and later said the experience was a reminder that each day is a bonus. The new portrait, bright and composed, underlines that message without a single word. Reactions so far focus on two themes. Many like seeing a small style reset that still feels like Anne. Others appreciate the continuity of the Festoon Tiara, a piece linked to her early twenties and worn across decades. It is a simple mix of new and old. That balance is what people expect from her. As the birthday week begins, more pictures and appearances are likely. For now, one frame does the job. New hair. A classic tiara. Her husband at her side. It is a quiet portrait that still says a lot about how Anne works, dresses, and shows up for the role she has held for most of her life.
