Olivia Munn surprised by reaction to comments on Ms. Rachel
Actress Olivia Munn is sharing an additional statement, admitting she didn't expect the strong reaction to the revelation that her two children don't watch some of the more popular kids programming at home.
In an interview with People, published June 8, Munn revealed that when it comes to childrens programming, she's not a fan and as a result, she doesn't let her children watch it either.
'I know kids love [Ms. Rachel], but the thing is, if I can't watch it, I'm not going to spend the rest of my life going crazy,' Munn, a moms of two, told People at the time. 'These kid shows drive me crazy.'
Munn and her husband, comedian John Mulaney, are parents to 3-year-old son Malcolm and 9-month-old daughter Méi.
Even cartoons are off the table, Munn told People.
'Malcolm asked for Blue's Clues [recently], and I don't know who showed him Blue's Clues, but they are on my list now,' she continued. 'I said, 'Not in my house.''
'John got him into the Spider-Man cartoons, which is not interesting to me,' Munn continued. 'I put on Tom Holland's Spider-Man: Homecoming and was like, 'If you want to watch the real-life ones, then we can watch that.' It might be a little too old for him, but I can't take the cartoons.'
However, after the headlines went viral, Ms. Rachel spoke out on Instagram on June 9, saying, 'WHO CARES?! I'd rather you cover me advocating for kids in Gaza who are literally starving, largest cohort of child amputees in modern history, thousands & thousands killed - no medical care, no education, no homes… do better!!!'
'Not against her at all and don't care that she doesn't want to watch the show,' she continued, 'all my love to her and her family - disappointed in the outlets.'
A day later, on Tuesday, June 10, Munn took to her Instagram story to respond to the reaction the interview caused.
'To Ms Rachel and her fans, I hear and respect the passion behind your support. I never anticipated the media would single out one small thing I said and distort it like they have. My comments were never meant to diminish the joy, comfort, and impact she brings to so many families,' Munn wrote.
'Every parent understands the importance of finding meaningful programming that helps us connect with our kids. I don't want something taken out of context to be a moment that steals even a minute of joy for anyone.'

Blake Lively & Taylor Swift's Friendship ‘Strained' Amid Subpoena — Report
Blake Lively and Taylor Swift's friendship faces scrutiny amid a high-profile lawsuit. A new report reveals how tensions over It Ends With Us have impacted their longtime bond. The update follows news that lawyers plan to subpoena Swift in the ongoing case involving Lively and director Justin Baldoni. Blake Lively and Taylor Swift's longtime friendship has become strained amid Lively's ongoing legal dispute with It Ends With Us director Justin Baldoni. In December 2024, Lively filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against Baldoni, who later countersued Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, for defamation. Court documents revealed that Baldoni claimed Swift was used to influence script changes. 'Taylor and Blake have talked, but it's strained,' an insider told Us Weekly, adding that they are no longer in regular contact. Taylor Swift will reportedly be subpoenaed for the trial beginning in March 2026. She has attempted to distance herself from the situation. According to a second insider, 'Taylor was shocked to be referred to in work messages sent to Blake's director and to be brought into this.' Swift's representative stated on May 9 denying any involvement with the film, stating, 'Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie… The connection Taylor had to this film was permitting the use of one song.' The tension reportedly began months ago when a photographer questioned Reynolds about Travis Kelce unfollowing him on Instagram. Kelce's action-fueled speculation about a broader rift between the two couples. Swift wrapped her Eras Tour, then began avoiding public attention and focusing on setting boundaries. 'Taylor's biggest issue seems to be protecting herself emotionally and legally,' the first insider stated. Lively has since apologized to Swift. 'Taylor and Blake have spoken, and Blake [said she's sorry],' a source confirmed. While Swift remains forgiving, the insider noted, 'They are on OK terms now, but the friendship is still wounded.' Lively reportedly remains hopeful for reconciliation. ‘What Happened Between Blake Lively & Taylor Swift?' Trend Explained Amid Latest Friendship Update
scored a major legal victory when a federal judge dismissed Justin Baldoni's $400 million countersuit on Monday, June 9. However, the ongoing lawsuit drama has reportedly strained her decade-long friendship with Taylor Swift. Baldoni's defamation lawsuit against Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and The New York Times was dismissed by a federal judge, while reports suggest Swift and Lively's friendship has 'halted' amid the legal battle. So what really happened between Blake Lively and Taylor Swift? According to sources close to Taylor Swift and Blake Lively, the close friendship between the duo is yet to be rekindled. As per Us Weekly, an insider claimed that Justin Baldoni's lawsuit getting dismissed was 'great news for Blake' but 'she hasn't rekindled her friendship with Taylor yet.' The insider added, 'Taylor has not been in touch with Blake and still does not want to discuss anything to do with the lawsuit.' However, Lively is seemingly 'hopeful' that the duo can 'rekindle their friendship.' The source clarified, 'But as of now, there is still distance.' Previously, sources had noted that the Grammy-winning pop legend was 'shocked' when she got to know she was mentioned in Lively's work messages and essentially dragged into the lawsuit drama. An insider the time told Us Weekly, 'Taylor and Blake have talked, but it's strained.' The source further claimed, 'Their friendship is not what it used to be.' Meanwhile, Baldoni's lawyer, Bryan Freedman, has broken silence over Lively's 'victory' in the lawsuit drama. Freedman stated, Lively and her team's 'predictable declaration of victory is false.' (via People) For the uninitiated, a federal judge dismissed Justin Baldoni's $400 million countersuit against Blake Lively on June 9, dealing a major blow to the director's legal battle. Judge Lewis J. Liman also threw out Baldoni's $250 million libel case against The New York Times. The judge stated that Baldoni's lawyers can still submit the claims for 'breach of implied covenant and tortious interference with contract' by June 23. Speaking of the new update, Freedman said, 'This case is about false accusations of sexual harassment and retaliation and a nonexistent smear campaign, which Ms. Lively's own team conveniently describes as 'untraceable' because they cannot prove what never happened.'
