
MUV driver threatens cabbie with machete in Bengaluru

But the situation spiralled out of control when angry motorists and onlookers vandalised the MUV, forcing its driver to abandon the vehicle and run for cover.
The incident happened at 1.40pm Monday between a Toyota Innova (registration number KA-01-MN-5804) and Toyota Etios (KA-03-AJ-2591). The cab driver swerved to the right and, as a result, the MUV behind him touched his sedan. The verbal argument that broke out between the drivers turned serious when the MUV driver brandished the machete and held it against the cab driver, identified as S Kumar.
Hundreds of commuters and locals who saw the MUV driver brandishing the machete alerted police. They vandalised the SUV with stones and tried to catch the driver. He managed to escape from the crowd along with his mother.
Srirampura police rushed to the spot and seized the Innova and the Etios. Subsequently, the MUV driver appeared before police.

Terror operative nabbed with arms, ammunition in Nagrota
A terror operative was nabbed along with three pistols and some ammunition at a check post in Nagrota late Tuesday, said officials. The accused has been taken into custody and further investigation is underway to trace the origin and intended use of the weapons, police spokesperson said. (File) In a significant arms recovery operation, Jammu Police apprehended a person at TCP Naka (check post) on Nagrota bypass on Tuesday. The accused, identified as Azan Hameed Gazi, son of Abdul Hameed Gazi of Hilalabad, Qamarwari in Srinagar was travelling from Jammu towards Srinagar in a Toyota Etios car with Haryana registration number. 'During search, police personnel recovered three pistols, three empty magazines, eight live and two empty cartridges from a handbag concealed under the co-driver's accused failed to produce any valid documents or licenses for the recovered arms and ammunition,' said a police spokesperson. A case under Section 3/25 of the Arms Act was registered at Nagrota police station. The accused has been taken into custody and further investigation is underway to trace the origin and intended use of the weapons, he said. Three pistols were China and Turkey made. The arms and ammunition were believed to have been smuggled from across the border and was being transported to Kashmir, said a police sources. More arrests and recovery are expected in the case, he added.

Biggest ganja haul of 2025: EAGLE nabs three in interstate smuggling bust
HYDERABAD: In the state's largest ganja seizure this year, the Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) seized 935 kg of ganja worth Rs 5 crore and arrested three persons in an inter-state operation. The accused — Pawar Kumar Badu, Samadhan Kantilal Bhise and Vinayak Baba Saheb Pawar — had travelled from Maharashtra to Rajamahendravaram in a rented Toyota Innova on July 23. There, they met a supplier who loaded the ganja into a Tata Eicher truck. The Innova then escorted the truck to Maharashtra in a bid to evade checks. Concealed in fruit trays Acting on a tip-off, EAGLE teams from the Khammam Regional Narcotic Control Centre and Rachakonda Narcotic Police intercepted the convoy at Batasingaram Fruit Market Junction on the Vijayawada-Hyderabad National Highway. The vehicles were stopped at 3.05 pm after sustained surveillance on July 26.
