Tirunelveli: The CB-CID on Wednesday arrested a relative of S Surjith, the main accused in the murder of dalit youth C Kavin Selva Ganesh on July 27, for allegedly harbouring him after the crime.
Surjith and his father, police sub-inspector Saravanan, have already been arrested. Though Kavin's family demanded the arrest of Surjith's mother Krishnakumari, she was not arrested. Kavin was murdered by Surjith allegedly over his relationship with his sister.
As investigation continued, the agency on Wednesday arrested Surjith's cousin Jayapaul. Surjith and Saravanan, who were in CB-CID police custody for the past two days, were reportedly interrogated.
Their statements were taken after being taken to the crime scene. Sources said that Surjith hid the murder weapon, a billhook, and blood-stained clothes in Jayapaul's house.
On Wednesday evening, Surjith, Saravanan, and Jayapaul were produced before the II Additional District Court for SC/ST Act cases, Tirunelveli. Jayapaul was remanded in judicial custody until Aug 26. Meanwhile, Surjith claimed before judge S Hema that he was being verbally threatened by police to follow what they say.

Patna horror: 2 children found dead inside parked car in Indrapuri; probe on
PATNA: Two children were found dead inside a parked car in Patna's Indrapuri area on Friday evening, police said. "Police received information that the bodies of two children - a girl and a boy - were found inside a car in Indrapuri locality. Officials immediately reached the spot and recovered the bodies. 2 die as bikes collide, cops say one of them was making stunt reel
Ghaziabad: Two men died and another was injured after their motorcycles collided head-on on the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway in Tronica City on Thursday night around 8pm. According to police, one rider was filming a stunt reel at the time of the accident. A 13-second crash video has also gone viral. The deceased were identified as Rohit Sharma (31) of Delhi and Subodh Kumar (42) of Baghpat; the injured is Sanjay Sharma (38) of Baghpat. A head-on collision between two motorcycles was captured in a 13-second video received by TOI from the police. The footage shows Rohit performing dangerous stunts on his Yamaha R1-5, standing on the bike while holding the handlebars as another person films him. Simultaneously, Sanjay was riding his Star Sports bike from Delhi to Baghpat when the two vehicles collided. Pak national on long-term visa held for cheating on wife
1 2 Hyderabad: A 33-year-old Pakistani national, on a long-term visa in Hyderabad, was arrested by Banjara Hills police on Friday for allegedly cheating on his wife. According to cops, the complainant caught him red-handed with another woman in the latter's flat at Banjara Hills. Based on her account police registered a case under Sections 299 (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs), 85 (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty), 318(2) (cheating), and 351(3) (criminal intimidation) of the BNS. The accused, who works at a private company in Hi-Tec City, married the complainant in 2016. They were both colleagues.
