2 die as bikes collide, cops say one of them was making stunt reel
According to police, one rider was filming a stunt reel at the time of the accident.
A 13-second crash video has also gone viral. The deceased were identified as Rohit Sharma (31) of Delhi and Subodh Kumar (42) of Baghpat; the injured is Sanjay Sharma (38) of Baghpat.
A head-on collision between two motorcycles was captured in a 13-second video received by TOI from the police. The footage shows Rohit performing dangerous stunts on his Yamaha R1-5, standing on the bike while holding the handlebars as another person films him.
Simultaneously, Sanjay was riding his Star Sports bike from Delhi to Baghpat when the two vehicles collided.

"We got the information from Rohit's friend, and immediately, a police team reached the spot and took them to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. On Thursday, Rohit and Subodh succumbed to injuries, while Sanjay's condition is critical. He is still in the ICU," Siddharth Gautam, ACP of Loni, said. He added that no official complaint has been received in the matter.

Ex-RBI staffer, 74, loses 5L before daughter gets him out of digi-arrest
Kolkata: A 74-year-old retired Reserve Bank of India (RBI) employee, Onkar Barat, in Baguiati was duped of Rs 5 lakh over five days by fraudsters posing as Mumbai Police officers in a 'digital arrest' scam. The victim was cheated by unknown callers, claiming that an FIR had been lodged against him in Mumbai for allegedly circulating obscene videos. Barat's family lodged a complaint at Baguiati Police Station (PS) only after his daughter intervened and convinced him that he was being defrauded. His daughter stopped him from taking a gold loan to pay the fraudsters further. Cops have started an investigation into the matter. According to the complaint filed on Thursday, the victim, a resident of Anupama Housing Complex on VIP Road, had received a call from a number claiming to be from the telecom department on Aug 8. "The caller warned him that his phone would be disconnected within two hours. The fraudsters sent him forged documents purportedly from the Supreme Court, Reserve Bank of India, Enforcement Directorate, and Mumbai Police, all naming him as an accused. They also conducted video calls through WhatsApp, displaying fake police IDs and impersonating senior officers. Frightened over the threats against his family, Barat transferred the amount on Aug 12 to an account of a nationalised bank. The account belongs to a company registered as Om Namah Shivya Fishers at Versova, Mumbai. The fraudsters then instructed him to arrange additional funds by taking a gold loan. The man visited the Teghoria branch of a nationalised bank on Aug 13. The frauds also pressed him to borrow from a private lender. but the delay in appraisal led the fraudsters to press him to approach a private lender. At this point, his daughter—who was in Manali—stepped in. Cops said the fraudsters had access to his personal documents. "We are coordinating with cybercrime units and the concerned bank to trace the beneficiaries and block further fraudulent transactions," the officer added. Internet users at risk: Watch your click as crooks eye trends
Kochi: Putting internet users in the city at high risk, cybercriminals are using new tricks to spread APK files and hidden links through messaging apps. This revelation comes after city police busted a major racket that used fake m-Parivahan apps to commit fraud. Investigators said they recovered several similar applications from those arrested, indicating they were conducting multiple such scams. The cyber wing of city police was the first to make an arrest in the m-Parivahan fraud, despite hundreds of complaints being registered in various states where APK files disguised as the official app were being circulated through messaging platforms like WhatsApp. Phones of those who installed the apps were hacked, leading to severe monetary loss. "When we arrested them, we found an array of such APK files. One of them was for installing an app to engage in sex chats, which could then be used for extortion through honey-trapping. Very few victims would file complaints in such cases fearing shame. Another APK file was for bogus KYC updation," said an officer with the cyber wing. Another city police officer said there was a surge in bogus links last week over Independence Day. "Since many e-commerce platforms provide offers during this period, scamsters took advantage. Links were sent with similar offers, luring people into sharing their personal details. Such links can be expected during Onam season. Another trend is sending links warning of private photos being online so that users are tempted to check it by clicking the attached link," said an officer. Vimaladitya said verifying such links remains the most effective safeguard against such scams. "It is very unlikely that an official body would send you important official communication through WhatsApp. Even if that happens, everything must be cross-checked — either by directly contacting the office concerned or by visiting authentic websites and writing to them for clarity. For example, If you search for a bank like Federal Bank on Google, fake website links might appear. Instead, search for the original Federal Bank URL, confirm its authenticity and then proceed.
