PATNA: Two children were found dead inside a parked car in Patna's Indrapuri area on Friday evening, police said.
"Police received information that the bodies of two children - a girl and a boy - were found inside a car in Indrapuri locality.
Officials immediately reached the spot and recovered the bodies.
They are trying to ascertain the identity of the children. Bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination", Patna (Central) SP Diksha said.
SP Diksha stated that the exact cause of their deaths would be determined only after the autopsy report is released.
An official added that the girl was around nine years old, while the boy was about five.
A call was received on 112.
When the police reached the spot, they found that one of the children was still alive. The child was rushed to the hospital but could not survive. He added that investigations are underway to trace the owner of the vehicle.
"We are investigating the cause of death. Postmortem will reveal the reasons behind their death. Both the children are aged between 5-10 years. Lucknow: There was chaos and panic when a speeding SUV ran over a group of pedestrians in Telibagh area under PGI police station on Aug 17 night. The incident occurred near the Varadani Hanuman Mandir, where devotees had gathered for Janmashtami celebrations. The incident left three individuals critically injured and several others with minor injuries. The accident took place around 9 pm as worshippers were making their way to the temple. An SUV from the Cantonment side hit pedestrians from behind. Among the injured were Rajesh, Anand Prakash Verma and an unidentified male, all of whom sustained serious injuries. Rajesh's wife, Nagma, filed a formal complaint with police. Eyewitnesses reported that the driver, instead of stopping, accelerated further, causing additional harm as he attempted to flee the scene. The driver was identified as Akshay Singh, alias Sagar Singh, 29, resident of Jayanarayan Road, Hussainabad. Singh was allegedly under influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. Police have seized the SUV and are conducting further proceedings. Singh has a criminal history, with eight prior cases registered against him across Lucknow, Barabanki and Rae Bareli, on charges of theft, robbery and other serious offenses. The victims, including Rajesh and Anand Prakash Verma, are under medical treatment. Residents expressed outrage over the incident, demanding stricter measures to prevent such reckless behavior in the future. Two people died and more than 300 sustained injuries during the Dahi Handi festival in Mumbai and Thane, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said in a statement. Of the 318 persons injured in Mumbai, only 24 were under treatment, including a nine-year-old boy. The remaining 294 people were discharged after treatment on Saturday (August 16, 2025). The Dahi Handi festival, celebrated a day after Krishna Janmashtami, involves a group of men and women forming a human pyramid to break an earthen pot with curd in it, tied to a hanging rope. Officials of the BMC said that 135 persons were injured in Mumbai, of whom 119 have been discharged and 16 are still under treatment, including one person in a critical condition. In the eastern suburbs, of the 72 injured, two are still under treatment, while 70 have been discharged. In the Western suburbs, 111 were injured, with 105 discharged, and six under treatment, including one person in critical condition.
