Rangers target Harry Darling on working with Russell Martin
The centre-back is a free agent after leaving Swansea, where he was signed by Martin having previously taken him to MK Dons before that.
Rangers Review told you at the weekend how the club are making attempts to bring Darling north and reunite him with his former boss once again.
However, he has plenty of options. It's believed the 25-year-old has interest from across the English Championship after snubbing the Swans' offer of a new deal.
Gers will hope the lure of playing for Martin again can work in their favour after it proved to be a worthwhile partnership twice before.

But what has Darling said about working under the new Light Blues boss?
Well, after being signed by him for the first time, he told the MK Dons website: 'As soon as I heard about the move here I wanted to get it done. Russ has shown full confidence in me.
"The way he wants to play football suits me down to the ground. I see myself as a ball-playing centre-back, but one who prides himself on keeping clean sheets too.
"I'm an ambitious person and I think this Club suits me in that aspect. I just can't wait to meet my teammates and get started.'
After then following him to Wales, he said: "I was with [Martin] at my last club and we've stayed in contact. I love working with him and it's such a big club.
"I've heard really good things about it so those were the two reasons I want to come here. I know the way the manager plays so it was just a case of getting the deal over the line - I just can't wait to get started."
Martin told the BBC at the time: "He's very young and hungry and he possesses all the attributes you need to play at the very top, in my opinion, and it's up to us to help him unlock those now.
"He's got athleticism, mentality, technical ability and, first and foremost, he's a great character. It's a really brilliant signing for the club in terms of investment."

Rangers Champions League draw: Live stream, TV details, start time, fixture dates and possible opponents
Rangers' road to Champions League qualification begins this week as Russell Martin's side discover their second-round opponents. Gers have to navigate three qualifiers to stand any chance of dining at Europe's top table - with title-winning Celtic also having to negotiate a play-off. The Light Blues have shown in recent years that they are a force to be reckoned with in the Europa League. But if they are to bridge the yawning financial gap with their rivals across the city, then reaching the elite stage for only the second time since 2009/10 is paramount - even with the recent American takeover. The immediate goal is straightforward. Avoid any hiccups in this round and Rangers are guaranteed European group stage football, at worst in the Europa League, as elimination from the third qualifying phase at least offers that safety net. A defeat at this stage, however, would see them slide into the third qualifying round of the Europa League - with no fallback to the Conference League. That could mean an early European exit by August, but that's the worst-case scenario. That thought won't even have crossed Martin's mind as he looks to guide his team to the money-spinning Champions League proper at the first time of asking. Here, Record Sport tells you everything you need to know ahead of this week's draw. When is the Champions League second qualifying round draw? The Champions League second qualifying round draw will take place on Wednesday, June 18. Proceedings get underway from 11am. Can I watch it live? Fans can stream the draw live via UEFA's official website. It won't be screened by any UK broadcasters. Where else can I follow the draw? You can follow the draw as it happens right here on Record Sport will run a live blog with all the build-up and stats, keeping you up-to-date as the balls are pulled from the hat. Afterwards, we'll have all the reaction from Rangers and their confirmed opponents. Who could Rangers face? The good news is that Rangers are seeded for the Champions League second qualifying round draw alongside Red Bull Salzburg and Viktoria Plzen. The Ibrox club will be in the League Path for the qualifying rounds thanks to their strong coefficient. However, they face tricky ties against either Greeks Panathinaikos, Swiss Super League outfit Servette or SK Brann of Norway. When will the fixtures be played? The first leg will be played on July 22 or 23, and the second leg on July 29 or 30.

How Rangers tried to sign new £46m Man City ace Tijjani Reijnders three years ago but ex-Ibrox star told him NOT to move
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) TIJJANI REIJNDERS is a man with the football world at his feet. Man City boss Pep Guardiola sanctioned a £46m spend to add the AC Milan star, named the best midfielder in Italy last season, to his ranks. That's because back in 2022, when he was playing for AZ Alkmaar, Rangers tried to sign him. You will recall the Gers, under Giovanni van Bronckhorst, being linked with a raft of top Dutch talent around then, including Joey Veerman and Xavi Simons. And the interest in Reijnders went as far as Tijjani's dad Martin sounding out Bert Konterman, the player's former coach with the Dutch Under-20 team, on the subject. Konterman himself takes up the narrative. The former Gers defender recalled: "Rangers, my old club wanted him. "Martin asked me what was wise. "I thought it was wiser to stay at AZ. "Rangers is a big club, but he wasn't finished at AZ yet and maybe in a year there would be even bigger clubs." "I also thought he would fit better in Spanish or Italian football. £6m Rangers star Danilo spotted doing gruelling sessions on beach in Brazil as he gears up for make or break pre-season "Luckily that worked out. It's good that he didn't leave. "His patience has definitely been rewarded." You can say that again, with the player now a must pick for the Dutch international team - having scored his first goal against Scotland no less. 3 Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page
