‘I had one beer': New York man arrested after fiery boat crash injured 23
According to the New York City Fire Department, rescuers responded to a boat fire in the Long Island Sound around 8 p.m. Saturday evening after reports that multiple people were in the water.
When they arrived, as seen in photos from the scene, firefighters found flames shooting up and black smoke billowing from the vessel.

One of the department's marine units pulled a few people out of the water. Fire officials said 19 others swam to Hart Island, where they were picked up by the New York Police Department Coast Guard and fire department boats.
The New York City Police Department told FOX 8 News that 23 people were taken to nearby hospitals. One patient suffered serious injuries and 22 others suffered minor injuries.
As reported by People, a criminal complaint alleged that the boat captain, identified as 33-year-old Joshua Brito, had 'watery eyes' and 'a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage' coming from his breath.

According to the complaint, Brito admitted to picking up the passengers from World Fair and that he allegedly had problems with the yacht a couple days earlier, People reported.
'I had one beer,' Brito allegedly told New York police.
Brito was arrested on several charges, including reckless endangerment and driving while intoxicated, a police spokesperson confirmed.
The boat fire remains under investigation by the NYPD and the U.S. Coast Guard.

In an Aug. 12 statement to USA TODAY, Delvey said that "I'm appalled, and frankly terrified, by the violent threats and hundreds of vile, harassing messages flooding my social media." "I've provided overwhelming proof of my innocence, yet nothing seems to satisfy the performatively outraged masses whose only real aim is to churn hate in my comments and DMs," Delvey added. Knox, who was just 20-years-old when facing a hefty 26 year jail sentence when she was wrongly convicted of murder in Italian court, immediately became catnip to salacious tabloid titles who thirstily followed the case and sensationalised any updates. She was branded as 'Foxy Knoxy', with Knox herself revealing she felt as if she was portrayed as a "dirty, psychopathic, man-eater" in the press. She spent years fighting for her freedom - and was acquitted in 2011 after an appeal, in which she immediately flew back to the US. While Knox was reconvicted in 2014 following a retrial, the Italian supreme court permanently exonerated her and Sollecito in 2015 - meaning her ordeal was finally over. Search resumes for teen who fell into Black River
ELYRIA, Ohio (WJW) — The search for a missing teenager, who is believed to have fallen into the Black River, resumed on Friday morning, as police deployed an aerial drone. Authorities are investigating a possible drowning after a witness reported 16-year-old Vincent Pabon had fallen into the river early Thursday morning and never resurfaced. I-Team: Search for suspect after 2 East Cleveland officers shot Pabon was last seen early Thursday, Aug. 7, near East Falls Riverwalk on the Black River, accompanied by a 24-year-old man, according to a Thursday news release from police. The pair had spent the night in the area, drinking and talking, police said. Police were told that Pabon fell into the water at some point. Sobriety checkpoints planned in 2 NE Ohio counties The 24-year-old man told investigators he tried to help Pabon, but that he also fell into the water. The man made it out of the water, but said he could no longer hear or see Pabon. Pabon was reported missing to police just before 8 a.m., according to the report. Elyria firefighters and a Lorain County dive team on Thursday, Aug. 7, searched for hours near the falls behind the city police department, according to a previous news release. After investigating the circumstances surrounding Pabon's disappearance, police charged Pabon's companion, identified by police as 24-year-old Jacob Rosado, with a felony count of tampering with evidence. Rosado was also charged with a misdemeanor count of contributing to the unruliness of a minor, for allegedly supplying the teen with alcohol. Authorities said they may consider additional charges as the investigation continues. Rosado had his first court appearance Friday morning in Elyria Municipal Court, where he was handed a $100,000 bond. He's due back in court on Thursday, Aug. 14. 'Our hearts are with Vincent's family during this incredibly difficult time,' Elyria police Capt. Bill Lantz is quoted in the release. 'This is a challenging and complex search, and we remain fully committed to locating him. We are utilizing every available resource and deeply appreciate the continued support from the many first responder agencies assisting in this effort.'
