When Shah Rukh Khan Said He Deserved National Award For Swades Over THIS Actor
The 71st National Film Awards were announced last night, and Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan won Best Actor in a Leading Role for his remarkable performance in Atlee's Jawan. This marks his first-ever National Award in an acting career spanning 33 years, making it a significant milestone. Many believe Shah Rukh Khan's best chance at a National Award was in 2005 (during 52nd National Film Awards) for his role in Swades. However, that year, Saif Ali Khan won the award for Hum Tum. A throwback video that has now gone viral on social media shows that even Shah Rukh thought he deserved the award more than Saif.
The throwback video is from a Tag Heuer event in the late 2000s. It shows Shah Rukh on stage with director Kunal Kohli and anchor Mandira Bedi. When Kunal asked Shah Rukh about his favourite films, Shah Rukh responded by saying he has a good heart and likes all films, heroes, and heroines. Shah Rukh praised Kunal's work, mentioning that Fanaa was very good and Hum Tum was nice. He added that Saif Ali Khan won the National Award for Hum Tum, but he felt he should have received it instead. Shah Rukh then laughed, and even Kunal Kohli smiled sheepishly at the remark.
'Fanaa was very good. I think Hum Tum was very nice. His actor won the National Award for Hum Tum when I think I should have got it, but that's another story," said Shah Rukh Khan. Check out the throwback video below!
Meanwhile, fans are happy and celebrating Shah Rukh Khan's achievement; however, many are confused that the actor won for Jawan when films like Swades, Chak De India, and My Name Is Khan were snubbed.
After his National Award win for Jawan, Shah Rukh Khan shared a video on social media, expressing his gratitude for the honour. 'I am overwhelmed with gratitude, pride, and humility. To be honoured with a National Award is a moment that I will cherish for a lifetime. Thank you so much to the jury, the chairman, and to the I&B ministry, and to everyone who thought I was worthy of this honour," he said.
'I want to thank all my directors and writers, especially for the year 2023. So, thank you, Raju sir, thank you, Sid, and especially, thanks to Atlee sir and his team for giving me the opportunity in Jawan and trusting me to deliver," he said. He also expressed gratitude to his wife Gauri, and their children Aryan, Suhana, and AbRam.

Prabhas Dances to ‘Ek Niranjan' With Rana Daggubati In Throwback Baahubali BTS Clip; Anushka Shetty Joins In
Last Updated: Celebrate Friendship Day with a viral Baahubali BTS video featuring Prabhas dancing to Ek Niranjan with Rana Daggubati. Anushka Shetty also makes a special appearance. In a delightful blast from the past, a behind-the-scenes video from the sets of Baahubali has gone viral—and it's as heartwarming as it is hilarious. Shared on the official Instagram handle of the Baahubali franchise on August 3, 2025, to mark Friendship Day, the video features superstar Prabhas letting loose and dancing to the title track of his 2009 film Ek Niranjan. Wearing his royal Baahubali costume, Prabhas can be seen performing the iconic hook step of Ek Niranjan, while also singing along to the track with full gusto. His infectious energy, combined with a touch of goofiness, makes for a moment that fans are calling 'pure gold." Joining him in the clip is co-star Rana Daggubati, who is clearly enjoying the impromptu performance just as much. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Baahubali (@baahubalimovie) Adding to the charm of the video, actress Anushka Shetty—dressed as Devasena—enters the frame, exchanging smiles and a few words with Prabhas, capturing the camaraderie that defined the making of this cinematic epic. The caption on the video reads, 'Every day on set felt like #FriendshipDay," perfectly encapsulating the bond shared by the cast. Directed by Puri Jagannadh, Ek Niranjan featured Prabhas opposite Kangana Ranaut, with Sonu Sood and the late Mukul Dev in supporting roles. Though not as monumental as Baahubali, the film remains a fan favorite, especially for its catchy soundtrack. As for the Baahubali franchise, helmed by SS Rajamouli, it stands tall as one of the most successful film series in Indian cinema. Prabhas took on the dual roles of Amarendra and Mahendra Baahubali, with Rana Daggubati playing the formidable antagonist Bhallaladeva, and Anushka Shetty as the fierce and graceful Devasena. The ensemble also included powerhouses like Ramya Krishnan and Sathyaraj. Baahubali: The Beginning (2015) and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017) changed the face of Indian cinema, with the latter holding the title of highest-grossing Indian film for years—until the arrival of Pushpa 2: The Rule. On the work front, Prabhas is now preparing for his upcoming release The RajaSaab, a romantic horror comedy set to hit theatres on December 5, 2025.
