NAS Sports Tournament adds New Olympic & Popular Sports Competitions to the 12th Edition of the Tournament
NAS Sports Tournament is the biggest of its kind & the most eminent community sports event that takes place at Nad Al-Sheba Sports Complex during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
Participants in the 12th edition of the Tournament will compete in 11 sports games; these are: volleyball, padel, jujitsu, fencing, wheelchair basketball, running, cycling, tug of war, obstacle challenge, in addition to other two competitions added recently to these are: badminton & shooting.
The Tournament aims to provide a comprehensive sports platform that brings together athletes in various sports, comprising people of determination, and different classes of society, allowing them all to enjoy unique opportunity to exercise sports during the Holy Month of Ramadan in distinctive & competitive atmospheres that enhance the spirit of interaction & positivity and cement the concept of sport as a way of life.
Mr. Hassan Al-Mazrouei, the Tournament's Manager, emphasized the Organizing Committee's keenness to select sports competitions that conform to the promising sports and community goals, set by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and overseen by H.H. Sheikh Mansoor Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
He explained that over the past 11 editions, the Tournament has contributed to the development of several sports games, and it has also presented various competitions that enriched the sports sector and contributed to the enhancement of the status of various sports & competitions, which are followed by fans in UAE & overseas, and held with distinctive participation of elite of the best ranked global athletes.
He added that the increase in the number of sports competitions and the attracting of further amateurs & professionals to participate in the Tournament reflect the eminent & growing role of the event in supporting the sports sector & boosting Dubai's sports community. These factors also confirm the annual dramatic increase in the numbers of events & participants, as the Tournament has witnessed, throughout the last versions, remarkable participation of 51 thousand amateur & professional athletes from UAE & overseas who competed in 88 competitions of various sports.
He remarked: "We are pleased to raise the number of sports in the 12th edition of the Tournament into 11 sports, including many Olympic and popular sports. The Organizing Committee is keen to add Olympic games with international participations, providing players with valuable opportunities to compete vs. international athletes and acquire new experiences. We will soon extend invitations to athletes and teams to participate in the various competitions of the Tournament. Details of registration & mechanisms of participation will all be announced during the upcoming days".

Dubai Workshop Stresses Joint Security Effort to Safeguard Stadiums Ahead of 2025–26 Season

'The active on-the-ground presence of every entity delivered positive results. We work as one team, and we will continue this cooperation to secure further successes in the season ahead,' he said. He added that Dubai Police, working with the Dubai Sports Council, had conducted a series of field visits and meetings focused on the comfort and safety of spectators as well as technical, administrative and match-officiating crews. 'We will always be ready to achieve the desired goals,' he Baloushi extended best wishes to all clubs for the new season, expressing hope for strong, balanced competition and an enjoyable matchday experience for fans. Additional steps include segregating rival supporters in the stands with physical barriers and regulating the entry of loudspeakers, banners and tifo displays (large, choreographed fan banners).The workshop also reviewed major challenges facing the Pro League and stadium security teams and discussed remedies, with an added focus on enhancing sustainability at venues through planning and decisions aligned with government teams from Dubai Police and the Dubai Sports Council have continued joint site visits with relevant stakeholders to verify that preparations are complete for the start of the 2025–2026 season. The checks covered security planning, facility readiness and safe crowd-management mechanisms, with all logistical and technical arrangements confirmed to support a strong, high-energy kickoff. Dubai Police and the Dubai Sports Council said they will continue to convene forums and workshops with national institutions to enhance the readiness of sports bodies to host events across all disciplines. The goal, they said, is to strengthen decision-making by adopting data-driven administrative systems while adhering to the highest standards of organization and safety, and to promote community partnership and sportsmanship in a way that reflects the UAE's standing on the global stage.

Jordan's karate stars draw tough groups ahead of World Games opener
Ammon News - The official draw for karate competitions at the World Games 2025 was held Thursday in Chengdu, China, where Jordan's national team is set to begin its campaign as the multi-sport event officially opens today. Olympic medalist Abdulrahman Al-Masatfa will step onto the tatami on Friday, competing in the -67kg division. He was drawn into a highly competitive Group B alongside Nenad Dulovic of Montenegro, Omer Ozer of Turkey, and Yugo Kozaki of Japan. On Saturday, teammate Mohammad Al-Jaafari will make his appearance in the -84kg category, also in Group B, where he will face Konstantinos Mastrogiannis (Greece), Brian Timmermans (Netherlands), and Ivan Kvesic (Croatia), a seasoned international competitor. A total of 96 elite karatekas both men and women are competing in Chengdu across 12 weight categories (six for each gender), having secured their spots through rigorous qualification.
