Makin makes history with PSA Squash Tour Finals title win
The 30-year-old won the first two games 11-10, 11-7, before Asal, 24, retired from the match due to an ankle injury after the Egyptian went 1-0 behind in the third game.

Makin was appearing in the first major PSA final of his career and he has now won the 10th - and biggest - title of his career.
It is Makin's second title of the season after also winning the Silicon Valley Open in October 2024.
"I've just been chipping away, and it's not been a short process, that's for sure," said Makin.
"It was a really high quality one, the same as last night [against Diego Elias]. We had two really good games, it was frustrating in the third that we didn't get to keep going.
"At sudden death again in the first game, it was really high quality. It's upsetting that he [Asal] wasn't right.

"I'm happy to win, but I want that challenge, I want to win. I want to see how I am against him when he's playing well.
"It's been another good week, it wasn't my best stuff in the group stages, but you've just got to keep trying, keep on getting better and come out and bring my best performance on the night."
World number one Nouran Gohar of Egypt won the women's trophy after beating world number four Olivia Weaver of the United States 11-10, 9-11, 11-8, 11-3.
The PSA Squash Tour Finals brings the curtain down on the PSA Squash Tour campaign, with the 2025-26 season set to begin in August.

Little League World Series scores: Schedule, results as Chinese Taipei, Venezuela face off Wednesday
The 2025 Little League World Series is underway. Eight teams continue their quest to win it all in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday in the annual summer tournament. A new winner will be crowned in 2025 after last year's champion, Lake Mary, Florida, was eliminated in the regional round. Which teams will prevail and remain in the winner's bracket? Catch up on all of the action below. Wednesday's LLWS schedule Chinese Taipei vs. Venezuela | 1 p.m. ET Connecticut vs. Nevada | 3 p.m. ET Aruba vs. Japan | 5 p.m. ET South Dakota vs. South Carolina | 7 p.m. ET Little League World Series format In case you need a refresher, the 2025 Little League World Series will feature a total of 20 teams: 10 from the United States and 10 international clubs. Those teams will compete in a modified double-elimination tournament. Play began Wednesday, Aug. 13, with the winners advancing and remaining in the winners' portion of the bracket. Starting Saturday, Aug. 16, the teams that lost their first games will face off to determine which teams remain in the event. Once a team loses twice, it is eliminated. That changes once the championships begin. The U.S. championship game and the international championship game will be held Saturday, Aug. 23, and will both be single-elimination games. The same thing will be true for the LLWS championship game. That creates a scenario in which a team could be eliminated from the event with just one loss. Games will last six innings. If a game is tied after six innings, both teams will play the seventh inning as normal, with no ghost runners on base. If a game extends past the seventh inning, a runner will open each inning on second base. How to watch the Little League World Series Every game through Friday will air on ESPN. On Saturday, both the U.S. championship game and the international championship game will air on ABC. The LLWS championship will also air on ABC on Sunday. That game will begin at 3 p.m. ET. Fans looking to watch the consolation game on the 24th will be able to do so over on ESPN2. That game begins at 10 a.m. ET. HEAD Golf Finds Its Footing Beyond the Trade Show Floor
HEAD Golffirst launched in early 2025 at the PGA Show in Orlando, Florida, where we identified it as one of our brands to watch. Golf's largest trade show hasn't historically been known for boundary-pushing ideas, but HEAD stood out. Its booth—inspired byGeorgia O'Keeffe's New Mexico residence and built around desert-themed apparel—didn't necessarily reinvent the wheel, but it did carve out a sort of aura that was rare on the show floor. The product itself filled an interesting lane. Luxury-leaning yet accessible, and functional without veering overly technical. In a landscape where many up-and-coming golf labels lead with narrative or loud design, HEAD felt more restrained. Not necessarily minimal for minimalism's sake, but intended for golfers who don't want their outfit to be the headline. When we caught up with creative directorKa Ho Kam, who's been with the project since day one and previously worked atMarc Jacobs, he described the crossover with HEAD's other sports: 'We've carried over clean paneling, subtle color blocking, and a refined logo placement strategy that gives the golf line the same premium, sport-luxury feel that HEAD is known for across tennis and skiing.' The real reason for reconnecting was HEAD's first-ever community event, staged withThe Links Social Tour(TLST). The full-day program brought young creatives, beginners and a handful of Toronto-area pros (plus some who flew in) to King Valley Golf Club. Think industry networking, shopping and competition packed into eight hours. 'Their ability to bring together golfers of all backgrounds in an environment that's both competitive and relaxed made them an ideal launchpad for us to showcase what HEAD Golf stands for: performance, style, and a sense of belonging in the sport,' said Kam. Looking ahead, HEAD is pursuing a dual strategy: continuing unexpected activations that resonate with fashion and creative circles, while also deepening roots at country clubs. At the recent PGA Buying Summit, for example,HEAD teamed with USM on a design-driven installation. At the same time, the brand is actively seeking prestigious retail and green-grass partners. As Kam summed it up: 'Moving forward, we want to grow in two directions: deeper engagement with private club and green-grass players, and broader collaborations that connect golf to art, design, and travel, making HEAD Golf part of the conversation well beyond the fairway.'

Blue Jays' John Schneider Has George Springer Message Amid Veteran's Resurgence
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Tuesday night was just the latest impressive act in an incredible turnaround season for the Toronto Blue Jays' George Springer. Springer was hit by a pitch in the top of the first inning against the Pittsburgh Pirates, perhaps as restitution for the two teams' bench-clearing incident on Monday. Instead of escalating the situation, Springer simply waited a couple of innings, then launched a home run off pitcher Mitch Keller his next time up. The blast was Springer's 20th of the season, and it set the tone for a 7-3 Blue Jays win. Toronto maintained its five-game lead atop the American League East with 35 games to play. PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA - AUGUST 19: George Springer #4 of the Toronto Blue Jays celebrates his two-run home run during the second inning against the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park on August 19, 2025 in Pittsburgh,... PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA - AUGUST 19: George Springer #4 of the Toronto Blue Jays celebrates his two-run home run during the second inning against the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park on August 19, 2025 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. (Photo by)Before the season, Springer looked like an ankle weight on the Blue Jays' payroll, with two more years on his deal valued at $50 million in total. Now, he's turned the clock all the way back to his prime, when he made three All-Star appearances in a row from 2017 to 2019. Blue Jays manager John Schneider made it clear on Tuesday night that Springer's resurgence has had a massive impact on Toronto's worst-to-first turnaround from last year to this year. "He sets the tone," said Schneider, per Keegan Matheson of "Whether it's hitting home runs, grinding out at-bats, advancing on a dirt ball, scoring from first, stealing a base, he's the epitome of what we're doing. "I can't speak highly enough of him, the way he's going about this and the way other guys are responding to what he's doing." Springer is slashing .292/.383/.514 in 105 games this season, his best OPS in a season of at least 100 games since 2019, when he finished seventh in American League Most Valuable Player voting. Suddenly, it doesn't look like there's any chance Toronto will try to salary dump him ahead of the final year on his contract. The 35-year-old is the only position player on the Blue Jays' roster with a World Series ring, and he undoubtedly has plans to lead them to another.
