UP CM Yogi Adityanath inaugurates Regency Hospital in Gorakhpur

on Sunday inaugurated Regency Hospital at Medical College Road in Gulharia, Gorakhpur.
Addressing the event, CM Yogi Adityanath said that the hospital has "the biggest ICU to date," mentioning its 80-bed ICU capacity and noted that the hospital will benefit over five crore people.
"The 80-bed ICU is the biggest ICU to date. You will see in the entire hospital how all precautions have been taken, which often leads to the spread of infection. If attention is not paid to any hospital, then it can become a medium of infection. This superspeciality hospital will become an excellent centre of health care for the five crore population of this region. There is no doubt about that.
CM Yogi further highlighted that the hospital will give an ease of access to high-quality facilities in Gorakhpur, for which the common man has to go to cities like Lucknow, Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, or Chennai.
"Regency Hospital started its journey from Kanpur. Now they have started a chain. The facilities for which the common man has to go to places like Lucknow, Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, or Chennai will now be available to him in his own district, in his own area. This Regency Hospital is presenting the example of that," CM Yogi said.
On Saturday, UP CM Yogi Adityanath visited Mathura, where he inaugurated 118 projects worth Rs 646 crore and unveiled a Rs 30,000 crore master plan for the holistic development of the Braj region on the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami.
These projects include beautification of Parikrama paths, entrance gates, restoration of kunds facilities for devotees, connectivity, water conservation, and environmental protection. He described the bhajans, kirtans, and Shri Krishna lilas organised in the Panchjanya Auditorium as part of the devotional atmosphere.
According to a press release, while addressing the gathering, CM Yogi said that Mathura reflects 5,000 years of ancient history and devotion.
The chief minister announced a new master plan of Rs 30,000 crore for the holistic development of the Braj region. He said this plan will connect pilgrimage sites like Mathura, Vrindavan, Barsana, and Gokul with the memories of the Dwapar Yuga.
He said, "Our government is committed to respecting the sentiments of revered saints and enriching the Braj region. We are making possible the works which were once considered impossible."
He also mentioned the ropeway facility in Barsana, calling it a great relief for the elderly. He said, "This is the benefit of development, that we are continuously working for the convenience and safety of devotees".

Narendra Modi
's vision of new resolutions for the centenary in 2047. Referring to the recent 24-hour discussion in the UP Assembly, he said society and government must work together to make Uttar Pradesh prosperous and developed by 2047.

A new building with 110 beds at Saidapet GH
Adding more health infrastructure for Chennai, the Health department has constructed a new building with a bed strength of 110 at the Government Hospital, Saidapet, which is over a century old. Stating that the building will be brought to use shortly, Health Minister Ma. Subramanian, said the GH was nearly 120 years old, and the new six-storey building has come up at a total cost of Rs. 28.70 crore. Residents of not only Saidapet but also Madipakkam, Ullagaram-Puzhuthivakkam, Pallikaranai, Jalladianpettai, Sholinganallur and Akkarai have been seeking medical care at the Saidapet GH, he told reporters after an inspection on Monday. The new facility spanning 68,290 square feet area has paved the way for major improvements for the Saidapet GH, he said. While the ground floor will have the vehicle parking spaces, the outpatient units, immunisation unit, pharmacy and scan rooms will be on the first floor. The second floor will comprise the labour wards, pre and post natal wards, emergency wards and nurses stations. On the third floor, an integrated laboratory is being set up at a cost of Rs. one crore, and there will be units for ENT and paediatrics alongside. The fourth floor will accommodate a 15-bed paediatrics ward, 14-bed general medicine ward and 12-bed postnatal ward. The fifth floor will have the general medicine ward with 43 beds, while the sixth floor will have three operation theatres and pre-operative wards, he said. Three years ago, 14 dialysis machines were installed at the Saidapet GH by the Rotary Club, the Minister said, adding that patients from various parts of the city were undergoing dialysis at the hospital. He said that they have sought another 11 new dialysis machines from the Rotary Club. When the building is inaugurated, a total of 25 dialysis machines will be in place. In addition, Rotary Club has also come forward to set up a blood bank at a cost of Rs. one crore. Mr. Subramanian said that construction work on the building was completed. The Tamil Nadu Medical Services Corporation has supplied the required equipment, and installation will be completed in a week. The Deputy Chief Minister will inaugurate the building. NAMAKKAL INCIDENT To a question that illegal liver donation and transplant has allegedly taken place in Pallipalayam, Namakkal, Mr. Subramanian said that a complaint has been lodged with the police to take action on two brokers. 'As per the inquiry committee report, we have recommended police action on whoever is involved, even if any hospital was involved,' he said.

ICAR-KVK Longding introduces milky mushroom cultivation
Itanagar: The Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (ICAR-KVK) Longding has successfully introduced milky mushroom cultivation for the first time in Longding district. A team of scientists led by ICAR-KVK Longding senior-scientist and head Uttpal Kumar Bhattacharya and plant protection subject matter specialist Deep Narayan Mishra introduced the cultivation of milky mushroom (calocybe indica). The Kanubari-based KVK helped the farmers to adopt new technologies and was guided by Mishra in proper cultivation practices. Explaining the cultivation process, Bhattacharya said it starts with well-composted and pasteurised paddy straw or similar substrate, which is layered with spawn in polythene bags Within 15-20 days, the mycelium completely colonises the substrate. After colonisation, a casing mixture of vermicompost, river sand, and slaked lime in the ratio of 3:1:0.5 is applied, sterilised by autoclaving for one hour at 121°C to maintain hygiene and prevent contamination, he said. Bhattacharya said the casing layer initiates fruiting, with pinheads emerging in 7-10 days, and mushrooms ready for harvest within 30-35 days of spawning. Each bag yields multiple flushes for up to 45-50 days, making it a sustainable enterprise, he said adding, milky mushroom offers farmers a profitable alternative to oyster mushrooms due to its high yield potential (800-1000g per kg of dry substrate), longer shelf life (4-5 days at room temperature, longer under refrigeration), and premium market value. He said farmers are taking keen interest in milky mushroom cultivation as they can earn Rs 250-300 per kg, making it a lucrative income source. Additionally, milky mushroom stands out for its nutritional richness-packed with protein (3-4%), dietary fiber, B-complex vitamins, vitamin C, and essential minerals such as calcium, iron, phosphorus, potassium, and zinc, Mishra said. It is low in fat and cholesterol-free and is considered a functional food ideal for health-conscious consumers. Its adaptability makes it especially suitable for the rainy season (April–Oct) when warm and humid conditions (25–35°C) naturally favour its growth. Mishra said the seasonal advantage ensures reliable production with minimal environmental control. With continuous guidance and training programmes, farmers are now expanding into year-round mushroom cultivation, diversifying into milky, button, and oyster mushrooms, thereby enhancing both livelihood opportunities and community nutrition security. Despite availability of Rs 17 crore CSR funding, purchase of CT scan machine delayed by over a month at Mumbai civic hospital as only one company responds to tender
Mumbai: Despite availability of corporate social responsibility funding of over Rs 17 crore, the BMC-run Nair Hospital near Mumbai Central railway station has not been able to secure a CT scan machine for over a month now. The reason is that only one company has responded to the tender, which was floated on July 25 with the end time listed as July 29. Despite three corrigendum notices extending the time — first to Aug 5, then to Aug 11 and finally to Aug 18 — there has been no other applicant. Nair Hospital dean Dr S Mohite said that the final decision on the tender would be taken by BMC higher-ups. "Given the patient load, which is now being managed with only one CT scan machine that was procured in 2023, a decision on approving the tender could be taken soon,'' the official said. Patients also have the option of visiting centres that have a tie-up with the BMC to offer CT scans at Rs 1,200 and MRI scans at Rs 2,500.
