Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) is a coenzyme that plays a key role in many biological processes. More research is necessary, but some studies suggest that NAD may help reduce the risk of aging-related diseases.

Healthy lifestyle choices, such as regular exercise, sufficient sleep, and a balanced dietary plan may help to extend life expectancy, possibly due to increasing NAD levels. Therefore, it may be possible to get similar benefit by increasing NAD levels through taking NAD precursors or boosters.
At present, most research into NAD precursors, such as nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) and nicotinamide riboside (NR), is in the form of animal studies. The results of these studies suggest that NAD precursors could help to extend health span and reduce premature aging in animal models.
A 2023 review indicates that NAD precursors are generally safe and may have the potential to support graceful aging in humans. However, the review also emphasizes that further research is necessary in humans, particularly to determine the possible effects and safety of these supplements.
Although NAD supplements are showing promise as agents that support graceful aging, there are still some concerns about their safety profile and possible long-term effects.
For example, a 2022 review highlights potential concerns about adverse effects on several organs, such as the kidney, liver, pancreas, and stomach. However, the review also notes that other research suggests that NAD could provide several benefits for these organs.
As such, more research is still necessary to establish the safety profile, appropriate dosages, and long-term effects of these supplements. Researchers must also determine the most effective way to administer these products, which could include dietary supplements, injections, or topical solutions.
Instead, it recognizes NMN as a drug due to its potential ability to support graceful aging. Therefore, it must receive FDA approval for both safety and effectiveness before manufacturers can market it as a product that supports graceful aging.
Therefore, it is advisable for a person to consult their doctor before taking any NAD supplements.
Many factors can influence aging. Some of these factors, such as genetics, are not modifiable. However, others are modifiable, meaning that people can make certain lifestyle choices to help prevent some health problems and promote healthy aging.

Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) is an important coenzyme that likely plays a role in the aging process. As people age, their levels of NAD naturally decline, which may increase their risk of age-related diseases.

As Trump decamps to his 'Summer White House' inspectors flag serious health code violations in the club's kitchen
As President Donald Trump settles into spending his summer weekends at his Bedminster, New Jersey golf resort, he may want to peek into the club's kitchen. Forbes reported Wednesday that the golf club was flagged for 18 health violations, nine of which were deemed critical, in the latest report issued by the Somerset County Department of Health. The May 6 report, which was publicly released, rated the club a 32 out of 100 possible points - the lowest score in the county. Inspectors found expired milk, raw meat that was stored improperly and a dishwasher that wasn't getting to the required temperature. Raw meats and eggs are required to be stored separately from ready-to-eat foods. In the Bedminster kitchen, raw meat was being stored above the cheese, the inspection found. The milk being used in the kitchen had expired three days before the inspection occurred. There were four separate hand-washing violations as well. Sinks lacked soap or the required paper towels for hand drying. Additionally, no employee with the required 'food manager level certification' was present at the time of the inspection. The club was issued a 'conditionally satisfactory' C grade - with management required to hang the sign in public view. The county inspector commanded the club to fix all the violations and pay a reinspection fee at a county building ahead of the next inspection. The Trump Organization did not immediately respond to Daily Mail's request for comment. This isn't the first time the New Jersey club's kitchen has been dinged by county inspectors. In August 2017, at the end of Trump's first summer in the White House, reported that Bedminster had been cited for at least 17 health code violations during routine inspections between 2011 and 2016. The reports cited 'significant fly activity' in the pool kitchen and main kitchen, dirty utensils with 'old and encrusted food buildup,' melons stored at the wrong temperature, dirty wiping cloths, grease-covered fryer units and uncovered and spilled food storage bins. The infractions were minor enough that the restaurants earned a 'satisfactory' grade and remained open. The Bedminster club opened in 2004 and is where the president has spent his time when the Palm Beach climate at Mar-a-Lago gets too hot. During the 2024 campaign, Trump used the club to host a handful of press conferences. When he was elected in 2016, he also used Bedminster as a place where he was interviewing potential Cabinet candidates. It is the final resting place of Trump's first wife, Ivana, who was buried on the premises in July 2022.

Donald Trump 's Department of Homeland Security granted an adorable Mexican migrant girl, 4, humanitarian parole so she could continue to receive life-saving care in California. The department has cracked down on undocumented migration and dismantled a Biden-era policy that allowed migrants to request humanitarian parole on a mobile app. Deysi Vargas and her daughter, who was identified only by her initials, received legal immigration status in 2023 so that the girl could receive care for short bowel syndrome. The family's attorneys at Public Counsel said in a statement that they received parole on June 2 and will expire in one year. 'While we celebrate this victory, we cannot ignore the systemic challenges that brought Sofia to the brink,' the family's attorneys said in a statement, referring to the girl using a pseudonym. 'Her parole was terminated without warning, and for weeks there was no functional avenue to alert USCIS that a child's life was in danger. It took an international outcry and pressure from elected officials to get a response—something that used to take a single phone call.' The statement added that there are many stories similar to the girl, 'but the danger they face is every bit as real' and that the immigration system 'must protect everyone facing life-threatening harm.' Vargas' daughter, who was identified by the initials, SGV, receives daily treatment to get her nutrition using a portable backpack. She receives her care through a process called Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN), which feeds her using an IV. Only a few countries including the US can administer the treatment and the equipment cannot travel outside of the country. The family flew into a panic in April when they received a letter from DHS notifying them that their parole had been revoked, according to Vargas' attorneys at Public Counsel. Brown said in a statement at the time that SGV was receiving specialized care at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. 'To suddenly yank away that welcome mat, take away her life-saving medical care, and force her back to a place where she could die within days is a cruel betrayal of our nation's word and an affront to our shared humanity,' Brown continued. Vargas shared her story at a news conference in May, telling reporters, 'If they deport us and take away my daughter's access to her specialized care, she will die.' 'Now, with the help my daughter receives in the United States, my daughter has the opportunity to leave the hospital, see the world, and live like a child her age,' she added. The family's attorneys said their humanitarian parole was set to expire at the end of July but Vargas had been working to get it extended. Public Counsel said in a statement to the Associated Press that while they were grateful the family received humanitarian parole, the case demonstrated a lack of communication with officials. 'We cannot ignore the systemic challenges that brought Sofia to the brink,' the statement read, referring to the girl as 'Sofia' using a pseudonym. 'Her parole was terminated without warning ... It took an international outcry and pressure from elected officials to get a response—something that used to take a single phone call.' SGV requires the treatment with her for 14 hours a day, but can leave the hospital with the backpack. The girl's physician, Dr. John Arsenault, who sees her every six weeks wrote a letter obtained by the Los Angeles Times that said SGV's condition could be fatal 'within a matter of days' if she lost her treatment. 'As such, patients on home TPN are not allowed to leave the country because the infrastructure to provide TPN or provide immediate intervention if there is a problem with IV access depends on our program's utilization of U.S.-based healthcare resources and does not transfer across borders,' Arsenault added. While she was in Mexico, SGV experienced repeated blood infections and underwent six surgeries. The family can stay in the country on humanitarian parole until June 2. reached out to DHS for additional information but didn't immediately hear back.

Couple take legal action after daughter dies hours after birth
A couple are taking legal action against a health board after their daughter died hours after her birth. Liliwen Iris Thomas died in October 2022 just 20 hours after she was born at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff due to complications during labour. Her parents, Emily Brazier and Rhodri Thomas, have launched a civil action against Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. The couple, from Cardiff, who are also parents to daughter Carys and son Ellis, have spoken of the devastation at the loss of Liliwen. They said Ms Brazier's pregnancy had been classed as high-risk and had been monitored accordingly during the antenatal period. But when she went into labour she was left alone to give birth, they claim. 'I have very hazy memories of my labour but then I vividly remember peeling back the covers and seeing Liliwen there, completely still and lifeless,' she said. 'That image will be with me forever. I still have flashbacks and nightmares and have been in counselling since it happened.' Mr Thomas said he was not present when Ms Brazier went into labour due to the maternity unit not allowing partners on the ward overnight, unless their partner was in active labour, which at the point of him leaving she was not. 'I should have been there, I could have been Emily's advocate,' he said. 'I would have pressed the call bell and alerted midwives that she was clearly in active labour and needed extra monitoring and help.' Shortly before midnight on October 9, Ms Brazier said she was given pain relief and left with gas and air before stirring from her drowsiness after 2am to discover her daughter had been born. 'It was absolute panic from that point, they took Liliwen away and rushed me up to the delivery suite, I had lost a lot of blood and needed stitches, IV fluids and a blood transfusion,' she said. 'All this happened while I was still on the induction ward, with only curtains around my bed separating me from four other women. It must have been horrendous for them too.' Liliwen was treated in the neonatal intensive care unit but died later that day. Since her death Ms Brazier, who at the time was studying to be a nurse, has opted against a career in the profession and has been diagnosed with PTSD. 'So many happy memories and special family moments are tinged with sadness,' she said. 'I dread family events and Christmas as Liliwen will never be there, she will always be the missing piece. 'I look at the faces of my living children and long to know what Liliwen would look like now at two-and-a-half years old. I will never get over her death, I feel stuck in time. 'I will never be the same person again. Holding your child as they take their last breath, leaving them behind after their last ever cuddle, walking out of the hospital with an empty car seat, there are so many painful memories seared into my brain. 'I have lost my child; it's every parent's worst nightmare and we live the nightmare every single day.' The couple are being supported in their case by lawyers Slater and Gordon. Lara Bennett, a senior associate at the firm, said: 'We are supporting Emily and Rhodri in every way we can to secure justice for their daughter after the most unimaginable and traumatic ordeal.' A spokeswoman for the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board said: 'Our sincere thoughts and heartfelt condolences remain with Liliwen's family during this incredibly difficult time. 'The health board is fully engaged with the inquest process and it would be inappropriate to comment further until the inquest concludes.'
