Lodha Developers eyes ₹1,500 crore rental income in FY31, says MD
Lodha Developers is targeting a six-fold jump in the annual rental income by 2030-31 to ₹1,500 crore, which will cover almost the entire interest and salary cost of the company, its MD Abhishek Lodha said. After capturing a decent market share in the housing segment, Mumbai-based Lodha Developers intends to scale up its commercial real estate business. It is building office complexes, retail projects and industrial and warehousing parks, besides entering into facilities management. The company's annuity income, which includes rents from leased commercial assets, stood at ₹250 crore in the last fiscal year. In a letter to shareholders, Lodha Developers MD and CEO Abhishek Lodha said the company now aims to have a reasonable annuity income portfolio over time. He said the "aim is to have ₹15 billion (Rs 1,500 crore) annuity income by 2030 (FY31)". Abhishek noted that the targeted annuity income for 2030-31 would be enough to cover almost the entire interest and salary costs of the company. During the 2024-25 fiscal year, the company acquired land in Chennai and Delhi-NCR for warehousing parks. "Leasing at various parks is progressing well, and we are continually enhancing our high street retail portfolio alongside our residential projects. We look to meaningfully grow in annuity income in the next few years," Abhishek said. At present, Lodha Developers has a commercial portfolio of 8.4 million square feet, of which 2.1 million square feet is retail, 1 million square feet of office space and 5.3 million sq ft of industrial and warehousing parks, according to an investor's presentation. Out of this 8.4 million square feet area, 3 million square feet were leased till March this year. From the current portfolio, the company expects a total annuity income of Rs 1,150 crore in FY31. About Rs 550 crore will be from office and retail space, while nearly Rs 300 crore will come from warehousing parks and Rs 300 crore from facilities management. It will increase the size of its commercial portfolio in the coming years to reach the targeted annuity income of Rs 1,500 crore in FY31. In the letter to shareholders, Abhishek outlined the vision of the company for the short, medium and long term. He also talked about the importance of having predictable growth with consistency to reduce business risk. In housing, Abhishek said the company is strategically positioned to continue to grow pre-sales at about 20 per cent CAGR (compounded annual growth rate) over a long period. In 2024-25, the company's pre-sales or sales bookings stood at a record Rs 17,630 crore, up 21 per cent annually. Addressing shareholders in the annual report for the last fiscal, he said the company is focusing on mid-income, premium and luxury homes across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), Pune and Bengaluru markets. Going ahead, Abhishek said, the company would focus on scaling its presence in these three markets and would enter a new city in the pilot phase. He said the company remains committed to keeping its leverage at a very conservative level, where net debt to equity will be below 0.5 times. "As we expand, we remain resolute in integrating sustainability at the core of our developments, ensuring they are future-ready and resilient," said Abhishek. Lodha Developers has built more than 100 million square feet and is developing more than 110 million square feet under its ongoing and planned portfolio. Its net profit increased to Rs 2,764.3 crore in 2024-25 from Rs 1,549.1 crore in the preceding year. The total income grew to Rs 14,169.8 crore last fiscal from Rs 10,469.5 crore in the 2023-24.

Israel launches Dror-1 satellite: SpaceX Falcon 9 powers mission; digital payload onboard
Dror-1 satellite launched (Image credits: Israel War Room) Israel's new national communications satellite, Dror-1, was successfully launched into space early Sunday morning from Elon Musk 's SpaceX launch facility in Florida. The Dror-1 satellite, developed by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), weighs 4.5 tons, spans 17.8 meters, and is equipped with the largest transmission and reception antennas ever built in Israel, according to Israel National News. It is the first in a new line of satellites that will replace the older Amos series, and is designed to fully meet Israel's communication needs for the next 15 years. According to IAI, Dror-1 is among the most advanced communication satellites in the world, built almost entirely with Israeli-made technologies. It includes a digital communication payload and 'smartphone in space' features that allow for agile and adaptable communication throughout its operational life, as per Sat News. The satellite was carried into orbit on SpaceX Falcon 9 two-stage rocket. The booster, making its 13th flight, successfully returned to Earth, landing on a drone ship in the Atlantic Ocean, avoiding a sonic boom over Florida. The second stage continued to push the satellite into a geostationary transfer orbit (GTO), a path that will allow Dror-1 to reach a fixed position relative to Earth. SpaceX referred to the launch as 'Commercial GTO 1,' a naming convention it has not previously used. This mission marks SpaceX's 519th launch overall, and its 85th of 2025. In the coming days, Dror-1 will open its solar panels and antennas and begin maneuvering into its final geostationary orbit, a process expected to take about two weeks. IAI described the mission as a milestone for Israel's space capabilities, demonstrating its ability to develop and deploy cutting-edge satellite technology using mostly local resources.

IPL Valuation Hits 18.5 Bn Dollar, Up 12.9 Per Cent, Fueled By Media Rights, Sponsors, And Fan Engagement
New Delhi: The business valuation of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has surged to an unprecedented USD 18.5 billion, marking a 12.9 per cent increase over the past year. According to the latest analysis by Houlihan Lokey, this amounts to ₹1.56 lakh crore in Indian currency. The growth underscores the IPL's status as one of the most lucrative sports leagues in the world. The global investment bank, listed on the NYSE, stated that the brand value of the IPL increased by 13.8 per cent in 2025, reaching USD 3.9 billion (equivalent to ₹32,721 crore), reflecting a 16.1 per cent year-over-year increase in INR terms. The firm's analysis added that the IPL's growth highlights the league's expanding commercial appeal, global reach, and deepening fan engagement—particularly in the digital domain. RCB dethrones MI & CSK! Royal Challengers Bengaluru has taken the crown as the most valuable IPL team, now valued at US $269 million, overtaking Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings—per the latest Houlihan Lokey report. The IPL's overall value has surged to $18.5… — Baatein Stock Ki (@BaateinStockKi) July 9, 2025 For context, brand value represents the monetary worth of an intangible asset, typically encompassing elements such as the trade name, trademark, and associated goodwill. It is important to note that brand value is a subset of a company's or entity's overall business value, which includes tangible assets, operational revenues, and other intangibles. Since its inception in 2008, the IPL has evolved into a multibillion-dollar enterprise, consistently ranking among the most valuable sports leagues globally. Its influence extends far beyond the field, shaping broadcasting standards, fan engagement strategies, and franchise-based models that are now being emulated worldwide. The firm added that the 2025 IPL season exemplified the league's resilience and operational agility. Despite a temporary suspension due to geopolitical tensions in early May, the tournament resumed swiftly—backed by robust contingency planning and stakeholder coordination, the analysis noted. The IPL continues to set benchmarks in the sports business. Franchise valuations have soared, media rights deals have reached record highs, and brand partnerships have diversified across sectors. Top franchises earn ₹6,500 million to ₹7,000 million in annual revenues, with up to 80 per cent of visibility secured before the start of the tournament. On the cost side, the presence of a salary cap (₹1,200 million per team) functions as an embedded margin protector, preventing wage inflation—a major concern for global sports teams—and ensuring competitive parity among teams. Moreover, franchisees operate with minimal fixed-asset exposure, benefitting from ready access to stadium infrastructure already developed by the BCCI. This translates into a capital-light model with structurally high returns on employed capital. When benchmarked against global peers like EPL and NBA teams, which wrestle with high player transfer fees, variable wages, and significant stadium operating costs (including servicing stadium debt), IPL franchisees operate under an asset-light, revenue-guaranteed model. This structure not only cushions downside risk but also amplifies operating leverage on the upside. 'For institutional investors, this makes the IPL not just a sports league, but a high-growth compounder in the entertainment space—catering to a fast-growing fan base with rising disposable income and a strong appetite for premium digital experiences,' the study stated. Going further, the study observed that Bengaluru (RCB) triumphed over Punjab Kings (PBKS) in a final that shattered viewership records. The title clash drew over 600 million views on JioCinema, reaffirming the IPL's status as not only India's premier sporting event but also one of the world's most-watched broadcast spectacles.
