Former Oregon football 5-star announces commitment to SEC school
For a matter of 17 days, 5-star edge rusher Richard Wesley was a member of the Oregon Ducks' 2026 recruiting class. Now, just over a month later, Wesley has announced that he is joining an SEC school instead.
On Sunday afternoon, Wesley, the No. 14 player and No. 2 EDGE in the 2026 class, per the 247Sports Composite, announced that he is committing to the Texas Longhorns. Wesley announced his commitment to Oregon early in May by jumping into a pool with Dan Lanning, but later announced his decommitment less than a month later.
This is a tough blow for Oregon, which felt like they were still in a good position to land Wesley despite his decommitment. There was a sense that things needed to be straightened out on the back-end with an NIL deal, but the love between the player and school was still there.
Apparently, Wesley saw enough this weekend on his official visit to Texas to commit to the Longhorns, though. Wesley still has an OV scheduled to Ohio State for the beginning of the college football season, on a week when they play Texas. We will see if he still keeps that visit scheduled and if he sticks with the Longhorns longer than he did with the Ducks.

Deion Sanders seen fishing with Travis Hunter in encouraging health update
Travis Hunter visited Coach Prime in Texas ❤️ Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders has been dealing with an unspecified health issue, but is on the mend, according to his eldest son Deion Jr. Deion Jr. posted a video to his YouTube account Saturday that showed Sanders fishing at his estate in Texas with former Colorado football star Travis Hunter. "It's a beautiful thing," Deion Sanders Jr. says in the video. "Coach Prime back active, moving around. God is great. Not back active moving around, but it's progress." The Colorado head coach has been away from the program since April and did not attend the university's annual youth football camps earlier this month. Sanders' return to Boulder is still uncertain, but he appears closer to resuming his full-time duties soon with the latest update. He is scheduled to attend the Big 12 Conference Media Days on July 9 in Frisco, Texas. The video is encouraging, as was a recent visit by Sanders' former Dallas Cowboys teammate, Michael Irvin. The two Hall of Famers were seen laughing at Sanders' Texas estate with Irvin joking about throwing a party when Sanders returns to Boulder. While the health issue does not seem to be too serious, Sanders admitted in late May that he lost 14 pounds. As Colorado awaits Sanders' return, the Buffaloes continue gearing up for the season, with Georgia Tech set to visit Boulder for the Aug. 29 opener. Rising Texas A&M pitcher has entered the transfer portal
Texas A&M's 2025 transfer portal losses now include one of the program's top arms from the bullpen, as right-handed pitcher Luke Jackson has entered the transfer portal, which is surprising given his successful junior season, during which he made a career-high 18 appearances. On paper, Jackson's 5.89 ERA last season was average at best. Still, his ability to keep the Aggies clean during a majority of his appearances saw a player steadily improving after beginning his career as a future starter. Jackson's decision to enter the portal is surprising, given his rising profile, which is due to his confidence and swagger as a reliever, paired with his quality stuff. This combination will likely lead to plenty of attention from blue-blood programs in the portal. During his 18 appearances last season, Jackson struck out 24 while allowing 12 walks, and looked to be on his way to reaching his potential as a go-to relief option in key games during conference play. While there is always a chance that he returns, several Texas A&M transfers have already committed elsewhere, including catcher Jacob Galloway, who is headed to Oregon State. Coach Michael Earley has, however, landed three pitchers from the transfer portal, including standout Baylor freshman Carson Bailey, on Tuesday night. Nevertheless, it's clear that the future of the bullpen is uncertain with Jackson's departure, while several relief arms have yet to announce their official return.
