Kim Sae-ron's Family Refutes Dating Rumours With K-Pop Idol

Fresh rumours surfaced online claiming that Kim Sae-ron had a relationship with a famous K-pop idol in 2019 and they reunited in 2022.
Actress Kim Sae-ron's death shocked many earlier this year, as she passed away at a very young age. After the tragic incident, reports about her past relationships caught attention, especially with actor Kim Soo-hyun. The Queen of Tears star reportedly dated the late actress when she was underage, which triggered controversy. Now, fresh rumours surfaced online claiming that Kim Sae-ron had a relationship with a famous K-pop idol in 2019 and they reunited in 2022.
However, a spokesperson for Kim Sae-ron's family quickly dismissed the rumours and said she was serious about her relationship with Kim Soo-hyun. They also explained that Kim Sae-ron was friendly and had many male friends because of her kind personality.
Speaking with Hankyung, a representative of the family, said, 'Kim Sae-ron was never a promiscuous person. She was always sincere when meeting people and she was originally an easygoing person with many 'male friends.' I understand that when she dated Kim Soo-hyun, her feelings for him were so deep that she didn't even have time to meet other people. The bereaved family is having a hard time because of distorted reports and YouTubers who are using such reports to indiscriminately spread information. Regardless of whether the content in question is true, the bereaved family is in great pain because of the excessive digging into their private life."
In March, Kim Sae-ron's family held a press conference to talk about how they were feeling. Their lawyer, Bu Ji Seok from Law Firm Buyou, explained that the family was going through a very difficult time, both emotionally and physically, because of the nonstop attention. He also shared something unexpected: that the family had not planned to involve Kim Soo-hyun in anything, but they had actually thought about taking legal action against YouTuber Lee Jin-ho for spreading false stories.
Bu Ji Seok said, 'The reason for holding this press conference today is to inform you of the difficulties the family is facing and to earnestly request that the criticism directed at them cease. The reason the family initially had no choice but to disclose the fact that Kim Soo Hyun had been in a relationship with the late Kim Sae Ron when she was a minor was to file a lawsuit against YouTuber Lee Jin Ho, who circulated false information, belittled and mocked the late Kim Sae Ron, ultimately driving her to her death."
'However, what the family received in return was Kim Soo Hyun lying that he had never been in a relationship with her. Even after evidence proving their relationship was revealed, he did not offer a single word of apology. Instead, he is now lying again, stating that their relationship only began after she became an adult. Additionally, for reasons unknown, YouTuber Lee Jin Ho and other individuals involved in the case have been recklessly exposing the private life of the late Kim Sae Ron and spreading false information about her," the lawyer added.
A month before Kim Sae-ron's family spoke to the media, actor Kim Soo-hyun had attended a press event where he confirmed that he had dated the late actress. However, he clearly said that their relationship did not begin when she was underage. After that, he decided to take legal action against Kim Sae-ron's family and Kim Se-ui, the head of Garosero Research Institute, for spreading false claims about him.

Toying Around: Bengalureans on the recent Labubu toy trend

If you've been doomscrolling through social media lately, chances are you've encountered the cute, yet eerie face of Labubu – the plush toy that the internet is currently hooked on. Hanging from Ananya Panday's designer bag, featured on popular K-pop star Lisa's live streams, or unboxing videos of influencers trying to get ahold of the rare one they want, it is everywhere. 'Labubu has been popular in the Far East but has now become a global phenomenon. The past two months have seen a huge surge in their demand in India,' says Zohara Jamal, a popular lifestyle content creator. Ayesha Alikhan, a city-based psychologist, concurs, saying, 'In Bengaluru, specifically, I've been seeing many influencers carrying these dolls. I've also seen many kids as well as middle-aged women at UB City walking around with the dolls in their bags.' Fondly called 'ugly-cute' by fans, Labubu is a collectible character designed by Hong Kong-born artist Kasing Lung in 2015. Inspired by Nordic mythology, the character was initially featured in Lung's picture book series The Monsters, where Labubu is depicted as a mischievous, elf-like creature, with a toothy grin and a playful demeanour. Later, it gained widespread popularity through a collaboration with Chinese toy company Pop Mart, which introduced the character as part of its blind box collectible series – a popular release in which each toy is sold in a sealed package.

‘When BTS members got shares…': Fired BIGHIT director's explosive post reveals ‘evil' HYBE let ‘alcoholics' devour shareholders' stocks

BTS' comeback as OT7 after two long years is due this week. This would mark the first time since the legendary K-pop singers enlisted in the military that their agency, HYBE, has finally seen a decent uptick in the stock market. But just when things were starting to look up, the agency's chairman and CEO, Bang Si Hyuk found himself under the FSS scanner in a suspected stock fraud case. A search and seizure were carried out days ago. And now, Elly Chae Eun, former communications director at the company, has broken her silence. In a blistering social media post, she tore into the toxic work culture at HYBE and even mentioned BTS, while making it clear the boys had no part in the mess. Also read: BTS mastermind Bang Si Hyuk may face life in prison over suspected $290 million fraud; HYBE shares plunge Elly Chae Eun was allegedly fired in 2017, claiming the company dismissed her because she 'no longer suited their preferences.' On June 7, Elly posted a statement on Threads calling out HYBE's deep-rooted greed. In a post titled, 'This is the hidden story behind the process of being promoted to an executive — something even I didn't know,' she said she was asked to leave despite sacrificing years of her life, both physically and mentally (translated via Koreaboo). Elly wrote, 'I used to sleep with my phone next to me all the time. I lost 7kg over two years after joining the company and even had symptoms of hair loss. I poured my heart into my work, taking care of the company's male idols — 'sons of others' — rather than my own precious children.' Then came the real sting. According to Elly, after she left, HYBE handed out huge sums (₩50-100 billion) to their inner circle, people who, she says, weren't even around when BIGHIT was struggling in its early days. This timeline matches the Financial Supervisory Service's allegations accusing Bang Si Hyuk of manipulating shareholders into selling their shares cheaply by denying IPO plans, only to go public later anyway. Also read: BTS' RM, V, Jimin and Jungkook to greet fans at designated locations post-discharge; BIGHIT says, 'Refrain from visiting' In 2020, each BTS member became a shareholder in HYBE, which originally started as BIGHIT with the seven-member boy band. In her post, Elly cleared BTS of any wrongdoing. She said she genuinely celebrated when BTS members received shares and grew wealthy, calling them the real foundation of the company. 'They absolutely deserved everything they achieved — those seven were the beginning of HYBE itself.' However, she claimed the real problem lies with the corporate suits who swooped in later. 'The ones who later swooped in and devoured shareholders' stocks at cheap prices, who went behind people's backs… people who played golf with corporate cards, lounged in luxury rooms, drank alcohol — they are the real evil ones.' Bang Si Hyuk is currently being accused of pulling off a shady deal that helped his close allies buy investor shares at dirt-cheap prices, right before HYBE went public in 2020. The profit was a whopping ₩400 billion (around $290 million), with Bang reportedly getting a huge cut, around 30%, through a secret deal with a private equity fund set up by someone close to him. South Korean law demands full transparency when it comes to IPO filings, and according to the officials, Bang failed to do that. Misleading investors like this could land someone in prison for life. HYBE, for their part, has denied everything.

Mission Admission 2025: Students guided on career choices and exam preparations

1 2 Bengaluru: Hundreds thronged the JN Tata Auditorium on Friday for The Times of India's Mission Admission 2025 event which featured a panel of educationists, industry experts, and representatives from leading institutions. It revolved around the central theme of moving beyond the traditional herd mentality and focusing on individual strengths and skills. The crowd spilled over from the auditorium, and parents and students queued up to ask questions during sessions which covered various crucial aspects of higher education, including evolving engineering curricula, specialized counselling for competitive exams like CET and NEET , and exploration of unconventional career paths. Degree alone not enough: Official Inaugurating the event, Mohammed Mohsin, principal secretary, department of medical education, urged the students to leverage such unique opportunities that were unavailable to previous generations. He advised students and parents to conduct a SWOT analysis (strength, weakness, opportunity, threat) for career planning, focusing on individual aptitude rather than societal trends. He said, "Every child is unique, everybody is different. Nobody can match anybody else." He stressed that a degree alone is insufficient; practical skills are crucial. He encouraged the students to scrutinise the quality of teaching in institutions and to not hesitate in asking questions. Professor S Sadagopan, former director of the International Institute of Information Technology-Bangalore, stressed the relevance of artificial intelligence and data sciences. He described AI and data science as "two eyes" – inseparable and fundamental to any modern field, urging students to gain proficiency regardless of their chosen discipline. CET and NEET counselling by Manjunatha R, joint controller of examinations and PRO, KEA Manjunatha R laid out a comprehensive roadmap for the upcoming academic season, offering clarity on eligibility, procedures and new technological initiatives. "We are awaiting the final seat matrix approval from the state govt. KEA (Karnataka Examinations Authority) is ready to begin the seat allotment process immediately upon receiving the seat matrix," he said. "Allotment of seats will be conducted in three rounds for CET. We are awaiting a nod from the govt for conducting further rounds," he said. He also highlighted a coordinated approach with Comed-K to minimise overlap and prevent financial losses for students who might otherwise pay fees to multiple institutions without securing a seat. Comed-K, however, later said it will go ahead with its counselling, without waiting for CET. In the session on NEET that followed, Manjunatha provided a comprehensive overview of the current structure of medical college admissions, focusing particularly on the various categories of seats and the corresponding fee implications in both govt and private institutions. Unlocking winning formula for NEET by Pradeep Eshwar, founder, Parishrama NEET Academy "Why have Karnataka students never achieved the all-India rank 1 in NEET?" asked Pradeep. "It is because class 11 is neglected in the state, while students and teachers focus only on class 12. In CET physics, around 45 questions are from II PU. However, in NEET, a good portion of the questions come from class 11, which our students have not focused on," he explained. The sitting MLA from Chikkaballapur also emphasised the need to focus on NCERT textbooks. "There are six NCERT books, including practical lab manuals, that students have to focus on. However, in the state, students buy only two NCERT books. The practical lab manual used here is a small book, while the original book has 150 pages," he said. Pradeep urged students to let go of phones and TV and put in relentless effort and have an unshakeable belief in themselves. Comed-K by S Kumar, executive secretary, Comed-K Kumar detailed the features of Comed-K. "Why Comed-K? We have three salient features. There are no reservations of any category to meet constitutional requirements in Comed-K. Towards these obligations, all member colleges of Comed-K hand over a certain number of seats to the govt. Private professional education started in Karnataka in the 60s, leaving us with the oldest private institutions when compared to neighbouring states. The ecosystem we have is very supportive of technical education. You name the industry… there is ample opportunity. As long as a student wants to seek, it's all there," he said. Kumar also went on to explain ComedKares, an initiative Comed-K has taken up for upskilling engineering students. "Modern-day engineering needs newer dimensions to be added. So instead of each college investing, ComedKares has now set up a total of 10 centres all over Karnataka. They offer eight courses during the four-year engineering programme—machine learning, artificial intelligence, robotics, internet of things, planning, prototype design, among others," he said. — Prathikaa V Shastry Get the latest lifestyle updates on Times of India, along with Eid wishes , messages , and quotes !
