IND vs ENG Test: 'Where's he been?' – Nasser Hussain slams India's tactics over delayed Washington Sundar spell

Former England captain
Nasser Hussain
has sharply criticised India's tactical decisions on Day 3 of the fourth Test at Old Trafford, particularly
Shubman Gill
's delay in bringing
Washington Sundar
into the attack.
India introduced Sundar only in the 69th over, with England cruising at 305/2.
Despite a wicketless first session, Sundar struck quickly after lunch, removing Ollie Pope for 71 and then Harry Brook for 3, offering India a glimpse of fightback on a day otherwise dominated by the hosts.

In his column for the Daily Mail, Hussain expressed disbelief at the delay: 'It was astonishing. You could tell he was full of confidence by the way he spoke so boldly about winning at Lord's, after taking four wickets, and I haven't seen a spin bowler in England get such beautiful drift, even against the wind.'
Poll
Should Washington Sundar have been introduced earlier in the attack?
Yes, definitely!
No, the timing was fine.
Hussain referenced Sundar's 4/22 in the second innings at Lord's, and stressed that he should have been used far earlier: 'They completely overlooked bowling Washington Sundar… not turning to him until the 69th over when England were 305 for two. He made an impact the moment he was introduced… leaving you wondering: where's he been?'
Hussain also questioned India's bowling approach to Joe Root, who scored a majestic 150 to help England reach 544/7 at stumps, with a commanding 186-run lead.

Shardul Thakur opens up on being under bowled, gives inside details on Rishabh Pant
'The way India bowled to Joe Root was baffling too. On the quickest, bounciest pitch in the country historically, he received just two bouncers up until lunch on day three.'
He noted that Root now intercepts the ball 27 centimetres closer to the bowler than he did in 2018, and India should have targeted him with short balls, forcing him on the back foot.
With Root now second on the all-time Test run-scorers list, behind only
Sachin Tendulkar
, and England firmly in control, India's decisions — particularly Gill's Sundar snub — are coming under increasing scrutiny.

Ice Cube ignites backlash after choosing Caitlin Clark over Angel Reese for $5 million

Ice Cube ignites backlash after choosing Caitlin Clark over Angel Reese for $5 million (Image via Getty) Angel Reese fans hoping to see her land a massive $5 million offer from Ice Cube's BIG3 basketball league might be disappointed. Even though the league offered that huge amount to Caitlin Clark earlier this year, it looks like Angel Reese won't be getting the same deal. And now, Ice Cube himself has made it clear why. Ice Cube says Caitlin Clark deal made financial sense, but not Angel Reese This week, on July 25, 2025, Ice Cube was spotted at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). TMZ Sports asked him if Angel Reese would get a similar offer to Clark. His answer was simple no. Not because he doesn't support Reese, but because the business side of things just doesn't make it work. Ice Cube, the co-founder of the BIG3 league, said he had no personal problem with Chicago Sky star Angel Reese. He said he respects her as a player. But he explained that sponsors told him Caitlin Clark would bring in big money and that same excitement wasn't promised with Angel Reese. 'They didn't tell us the same thing about Angel Reese,' Cube told TMZ Sports during the brief interview at LAX. The BIG3 had offered Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark $5 million in March 2024 to play in their 3-on-3 league while still playing in the WNBA. That agreement never materialized, though. Rather, Clark decided to concentrate on her first WNBA season. Angel Reese continues strong WNBA season without BIG3 offer Angel Reese is enjoying an amazing first year in the WNBA. Going into Oval Test, we will be high on confidence: India head coach Gambhir

Gambhir did not give any clarity on Bumrah's availability for the last Test starting at the Oval on July 31. He said no decision has been made in this regard yet. Speaking on Shubman Gill and his growth as a batter during the ongoing series, he said, "First of all, no one has any doubt on Shubman's talent. Those who had a doubt, they only know how to talk about cricket, not understand it. Because some people take time to blossom in international cricket. And there is no surprise in this dressing room that Shubman has done on this tour. And honestly, even if he hadn't done it, no one had a doubt on his talent. Because those who understand cricket, they know what kind of talent Shubman possess. And the important thing is that he is living up to his expectations, his own talent, and more importantly, the pressure of the captaincy, the burden and pressure of the captaincy. I think you can't see anything of that sort when he goes in bat. Because when he goes into bat, he goes as a batter, not as a captain." Gambhir reiterated that he believes in the team is 1-2 down in the series and will try to make it 2-2 in the last match. He also confirmed that injured wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has been ruled out of the series due to the right broken foot adding further that all pacers are fit to play. "Rishabh, already it's been declared that he's out of the series. And one thing I want to say is that the character and the foundation of this team will be built on something Rishabh did for the team and for the country as well. Any amount of praise is not enough for him. Especially batting with a broken foot. Not many people have done that in the past. And he has put his hand up. And that is why I say, any amount of praise, I can sit here and talk about this for hours and hours. I think the generations to come will talk about this. And it should talk about it that there is someone who has batted with a broken foot. It's unfortunate because of the kind of form he was in. But again, he's an important member of the Test side and I hope he recovers quickly and comes back quickly and tries and delivers again for us. Also all the fast bowlers are fit. There is no injury scare." He said the draw here in Manchester will give the team a psychological edge over their opponents going into the last match of the series. "It will give an edge because when you see, when you're put under the pressure, when you're put under the pump and you end up playing five sessions, I think that's a great character. And anything that you do in these conditions, when you're put under pressure and you come out of those pressure moments, it is always a great feeling. And it just ends up giving a lot of confidence in the dressing room as well. And I'm sure, I think going into the Oval, I think we will be high on confidence. But we can't take anything for granted. I think it's going to be a new game. It's going to be against a strong England side and we absolutely will be up for it.

Shannon Sharpe believes Kareem Abdul Jabbar is the most undervalued player in NBA history

(Image Source - Getty Images) Shannon Sharpe recently made waves in the basketball scene with a daring statement: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is the most undervalued player in NBA history. This remark was made during an episode of his Nightcap show, where Sharpe earnestly argued that Abdul-Jabbar's phenomenal career is often overlooked in the never-ending debate about who is the NBA's Greatest of All Time (GOAT). Kareem Abdul Jabbar gets overlooked again in GOAT talks Shannon Sharpe started with Bleacher Report revealing their Top 100 NBA Players list in July 2025. The rankings ignited a huge debate, especially since Kobe Bryant—often hailed as one of the greatest players of all time—was left out of the top 10. Fans and analysts, including Sharpe, were quick to highlight what they felt was disrespectful. However, while Sharpe agreed that Kobe deserved a better spot, he turned his attention to a more significant issue: the persistent oversight of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. As noted by Basketball Network, it was clear that Sharpe was frustrated, 'Despite Kareem leading both Michael Jordan and LeBron James in several career achievements or statistical records, why isn't the seven-foot center given more significance as the NBA's GOAT?'
