Newly appointed Test skipper led the unit as the team trained under the watchful eye of fielding coach T Dilip, who was recently reinstated to the role. The team was seen in high spirits ahead of the England tour.
The series is slated to begin on the 20th of June at the Headingly before heading to Edgbaston for the second Test. The third game of the series is set to be held at the fabled Lord's, while Old Trafford will host the fourth match of the series before culminating at the Kennington Oval in the fifth.
India will be under new leadership as Gill takes over following the retirements of former skippers Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli from the longest format of the game.
The Indian outfit promises a fresh look with multiple new names including Sai Sudharsan and Arshdeep Singh, while Karun Nair returns to the national fold. The experienced KL Rahul, who got a ton against England Lions in the tune-up unofficial Tests, will look to hold the batting order steady.
Mohammed Shami was left out of the squad due to injury concerns and lead pacer Jasprit Bumrah will lead the seam line up of Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, and Arshdeep.

Pat Cummins Breaks Record Of Best Bowling Figures In Tests By A Captain At Lord's

Last Updated: Cummins dismissed six South African batters for 28 runs in his quota of 18.1 overs in the first innings. Pat Cummins picked up 6 wickets for 28 runs in 18.1 overs for Australia on Thursday (June 12) in South Africa's first innings of the WTC 2025 final currently underway at Lord's. The figures of 6 for 28 helped the 32-year-old fast bowler break the record of best bowling figures in Tests by a captain at Lord's. Before Cummins, only one captain—Bob Willis of England—ever managed to take a six-wicket haul in Tests at Lord's. During the second innings of the India-England Test played at Lord's from June 10 to 15, 1982, Willis dismissed six Indian batters for 101 runs in 28 overs of the second innings. In the second session, he dismissed Kyle Verreynne (13) and Marco Jansen (0) in one over and then picked up David Bedingham's (45) wicket on the second ball of the 56th over of South Africa's innings. Bedingham top-scored for South Africa, but before he could complete his fifty, he was caught by Alex Carey behind the wickets. Cummins, who now holds the record for taking the most wickets in WTC finals as well as ICC finals, wrapped up South Africa's innings by getting Kagiso Rabada (1) caught out by Beau Webster on the first ball of the 58th over. The wicket of Rabada was Cummins' 300th wicket in Test cricket for the Baggy Greens. He is the eighth Aussie to dismiss 300 or more batters in the five-day format of the game. Cummins' super show with the ball helped Aussies bowl South Africa out for 138 runs in the first innings and take a crucial lead of 74 runs. For Australia, apart from Cummins, Mitchell Starc picked up two wickets, and one South African batter was sent back to the pavilion by Josh Hazlewood, whereas Keshav Maharaj got run out in an attempt to take two runs. India Vs India A Live Streaming: When & Where To Watch Intra-Squad Game?

Last Updated: Shubman Gill-led India face Abhimanyu Easwaran's India A in a crucial intra-squad game ahead of the England tour. India vs India A Intra-Squad Match Live Streaming Details: Shubman Gill-led India will take on Abhimanyu Easwaran's India A in the final match of the visitors' preparation ahead of the tour of England, as Gill & Co. look to make a mark with a new-look Indian team. The game will be the senior side's sole simulation match before the first Test against England in Leeds from June 20. The intra-squad match acts like a precursor to the Test. The Indian side, under head coach Gautam Gambhir, chose a 'closed door' session to prevent England from getting any ideas on the tactical front. India had done the same thing during the tour of Australia earlier this year, although that didn't pay off. As bowling coach Morne Morkel said on Wednesday, building the stamina to bowl and field for an entire day is very different from normal net sessions. The four-day match, which does not have the official first-class status, gives batters a second go if someone is dismissed early. With 360 overs of game simulation available over four days, it will allow the management to permit the bowling unit to get enough overs under their belt. That would be handy in ensuring that the bowlers, be it a spinner or a pacer, have the requisite rhythm in an actual game. Gambhir will have some work to do in terms of zeroing in on a lone specialist spinner for Headingley. There is Ravindra Jadeja, whose superior batting becomes a massive factor in SENA nations but against England's hard-hitters, Kuldeep Yadav's versatility could complement ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah if India look to pick 20 wickets. There is Ravindra Jadeja, whose superior batting becomes a huge factor in SENA countries but against England's 'Bazballers', Kuldeep Yadav's versatility could complement pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah better if India harbour any hopes of picking 20 wickets.
