Heavy rain hit many parts of Delhi and NCR late Wednesday night and early Thursday morning. While it brought relief from the hot and humid weather, it also caused a lot of problems, especially for people going to work. Major stretches were left waterlogged from Noida to Gurugram causing traffic jams and leaving vehicles stuck in water. Several low-lying areas were also badly affected, with cars and two-wheelers partly under water. Office-goers faced big trouble on Thursday morning as key roads were flooded.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), by 6:30 am on Thursday, central Delhi's Pusa area had received 40 mm of rain. Other areas also saw heavy rain i.e. Sports Complex got 38 mm, Safdarjung 34 mm, Najafgarh 23.5 mm, Pragati Maidan 22.1 mm, KV Narayana 20.5 mm, Lodi Road 18.5 mm, KV Janakpuri 18 mm, and Ayanagar 13 mm. Heavy rain caused major traffic jams across Delhi and NCR on Thursday. Key roads like ITO, Mehrauli-Gurgaon Road, Delhi-Meerut Expressway, Nehru Place, Kailash Colony Road, Dhaula Kuan, Naraina, Patel Nagar, Vijay Chowk, Jangpura, RK Puram, Lajpat Nagar, Talkatora Road, and underpasses at Azad Market and Zakhira were badly affected.
Social media was full of videos showing knee-deep water on roads, waterlogged underpasses, and long traffic jams. Clips from places like Connaught Place, Zakhira, and the road between Safdarjung Hospital and LNJP Hospital quickly went viral. IMD issues orange alert for Delhi
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Delhi-NCR. The forecast includes light to moderate rainfall, thunder or lightning, and strong winds up to 40 km/h. Light rain is expected to continue in Delhi and nearby areas till August 5.
In the rest of the country, especially in the northeast, the IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next seven days.
The IMD has predicted light to moderate rainfall for Thursday morning in the Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR).
Bahadurgarh and Manesar are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall accompanied by light thunderstorms and lightning, while light rainfall is very likely to occur at the entire Delhi-NCR, the meteorological department said.

The maximum and minimum temperatures over Delhi are likely to be in the range of 30 to 32 Degree Celsius and 23 to 25 Degree Celsius, respectively. The minimum and maximum temperatures will be below normal by up to 2 to 4 Degree Celsius.
