X has unveiled the first elements of its new partnership with Polymarket, which it announced as its 'official prediction market partner' late last week.
As part of this new collaboration, Polymarket will now combine predictions based on X posts, along with insights from xAI's Grok system, to provide contextual pointers for its forecasts.
As you can see in this example, now, Polymarket users will be able to view X posts that relate to its market predictions, to provide more insight into key trends.
Users will be able to scroll through the full listing of related X updates, which will provide more understanding as to how different real-time events impact Polymarket's overviews, and guide its predictions.
As noted, both Polymarket and X first announced the partnership late last week, with Polymarket noting that:
'The next information age won't be driven by the 20th century's media monoliths - it'll be driven by markets. Our partnership with X marks a new chapter for truth on the internet. The future of news is optimized for truth, rooted in transparency, and anchored in reality.'
I mean, I'm not sure that really encapsulates how most users now experience X, which continues to lose users, and is now facing a significant challenge from Meta's rising Threads app. But X/Twitter data has long been used for market predictions and forecasts, and there definitely is value in using X's real-time stream of updates to inform such, and get ahead of evolving impacts.
Indeed, Twitter had published several blog posts outlining how tweets could be used to get ahead of stock fluctuations. Twitter had also partnered with Bloomberg to integrate tweet data into Bloomberg's analytics suite, in order to help financial professionals capitalize on this data source.
So there's clearly value in using the platform to stay ahead of emerging trends. And getting that slight edge can yield significant advantage, and maybe, with combined insights from xAI, Polymarket could become significantly more valuable as a predictive tool as a result.
Usage does matter, and if X continues to lose users, then its predictive capacity will be impacted as a result. But right now at least, it remains a key platform for in-the-moment news.
X says that it's working on several integrations with Polymarket, with this initial project being just the beginning.

Betting market sees over 50% chance of Israel military action against Iran by July

-- The betting market Polymarket is now pricing a 53% chance that Israel will launch military action against Iran before July, a significant jump from just 25% at the start of Wednesday. The sharp increase follows a series of developments in the Middle East that have heightened geopolitical uncertainty and triggered security responses from the United States. On Wednesday, the U.S. State Department confirmed it is preparing for a partial evacuation of its embassy in Iraq and authorizing military families and non-essential personnel to depart from select locations across the Middle East. The moves reflect growing concerns about potential regional escalation, particularly involving Iran and its adversaries. President Donald Trump added to the uncertainty during a press appearance Wednesday evening, stating that U.S. personnel were being repositioned because 'it could be a dangerous place.' He reaffirmed that the United States will not allow Iran to develop a nuclear weapon, a stance that has underpinned recent tensions with Tehran. When asked directly on Thursday about whether an Israeli strike on Iran was imminent, Trump was measured but ominous: 'I don't want to say imminent, but it looks like it's something that could very well happen.' He emphasized the U.S. position that 'Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon,' while also stating, 'Other than that, I want them to be successful… we'll help them be successful, we'll trade with them.' The betting market's reaction reflects the broader mood of volatility in the region and uncertainty over how close the two adversaries may be to open conflict. Analysts say that Polymarket, which aggregates sentiment from decentralized traders, can act as a real-time barometer of geopolitical risk. A 28-point spike in less than 24 hours suggests that traders believe recent U.S. and Israeli statements, coupled with military repositioning, are strong signals that tensions may soon erupt into action. Crude Oil WTI Futures futures are trading near two-month highs amid heightened tensions. While there is no official confirmation of planned Israeli strikes, the White House's evacuation orders and Trump's comments suggest preparations are being made for a potential escalation. With just weeks left until July, all eyes are now on Tel Aviv and Tehran for what may come next. Snapchat Adds New Creator Tools, Updated Analytics Elements

This story was originally published on Social Media Today. To receive daily news and insights, subscribe to our free daily Social Media Today newsletter. Snapchat's rolling out some new ways to make more use of your Snap content, along with some additional analytics elements to help creators improve their in-app performance. First off, Snapchat's adding an option that will enable you to create videos from your Memories, essentially building a highlight reel clip of your favorite Snap moments. As you can see in this example sequence, you'll now be able to create a video from a selection of your Memories clips, with a dedicated soundtrack for your newly created video. You'll also be able to choose from creative templates for your compilation, providing another way to get more value from your previous updates. Which is also the focus of Snap's next update, with Snapchatters now also able to automatically save their public Stories directly to their profile, 'so that fans can catch up on and revisit their favorite creator content.' Which runs counter to the traditional ethos of Snap, in focusing on in-the-moment, disappearing updates, in order to enhance the immediacy and intimacy of in-app connection. But Snap's been moving away from this for some time, as an option at least, by providing more ways for creators to maximize the value of their updates, by keeping them available beyond the initial 24-hour period. The risk is that this moves Snap more into parity with other apps, diluting its differentiation. But from a creator perspective, it also makes sense that they would want to keep their best content around for longer to help build their profile and presence. It's an option, either way, so users don't have to do this, but I do think there is a risk in Snap gradually moving away from its ephemeral roots. Snapchat's also rolling out a new video editing UI, with a timeline-aligned format, which will make it easier to manage your video projects in the app. As you can see in this example, the updated video editor is more like the display in CapCut or Edits, with multiple tracks for your project, enabling more granular editing and customization. Finally, Snapchat's also officially announced its new analytics elements, providing more insight into content performance. As per Snap: 'We recently rolled out new insights across Stories and Spotlight, making it easier than ever for our global community of creators to optimize their content and continue to get rewarded for doing what they do best: being their authentic selves on Snapchat.' Snap's updates metrics include: – the number of viewers who watched a creator's public content for at least 12 days over the last month. Repeat viewership reflects real connection and interest. Creators can share this metric with brands to demonstrate audience loyalty. – a creator's most watched Spotlight posts and Public Stories by total views over the last 28 days. – a creator's total view time across Spotlight posts, Public Stories, and Profile Stories. – creators can see Content and Profile views based on the source of the view, including Discover For You, Following, Spotlight, Search, Chat, and Profile. – the average amount of time Snapchatters spend watching a creator's Spotlight posts. – the average percent of a creator's Spotlight posts that Snapchatters completed watching. Some handy insights, and some additional content options that could help creators get more out of the app. And with Snap looking to maximize its opportunities, it needs to enhance its appeal to creators where it can, though again, shifting away from disappearing content could risk leaving the app more generic, and less appealing in comparison. TPG, Sequoia and Others Invest $250 Million in Elon Musk's xAI

Two dozen venture capital firms and other investors are buying about $250 million worth of shares in xAI, the artificial intelligence and social media company controlled by Elon Musk, according to internal documents seen by The New York Times. Current and former employees of xAI, which acquired the social media company X in March, could sell a portion of their shares to investors including TPG, ARK Invest and Sequoia Capital under a deal known as a tender offer, according to the internal documents. Fidelity, a previous investor in Mr. Musk's companies, is purchasing $20 million worth of shares in the deal, which values xAI at $113 billion, the documents show. The tender offer is separate from other talks held by xAI, in which investors have discussed putting as much as $20 billion into the company at a valuation of up to $120 billion. Earlier this year, Mr. Musk said he was merging xAI with X, the company formerly known as Twitter, which he bought in late 2022 for $44 billion. xAI is a generative A.I. company that developed the chatbot Grok, which competes with OpenAI's ChatGPT. Many investors in the tender offer have previously invested in Mr. Musk's companies, including the electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla and the rocket company SpaceX. Fidelity had previously invested in Mr. Musk's deal to buy Twitter. It had marked down its valuation of the social media company to less than $10 billion last year, according to public documents. Human Capital, a small Bay Area venture firm, is also investing. Its co-founder, Baris Akis, became heavily involved with the presidential transition after Mr. Musk stumped for President Trump and became a close adviser. A spokesman for xAI did not respond to a request for comment. Representatives for Fidelity, TPG, ARK Invest, Sequoia Capital and Human Capital did not respond to requests for comment.
