The fifth season of the Lily Collins-led show will debut on Netflix later this year. Emily in… Italy, still? On Wednesday, Netflix unveiled the premiere date of Emily in Paris Season 5, along with a series of first-look photos. The upcoming season will continue to follow the titular American marketing executive, played by Lily Collins, as she embraces a change of scene: life in Venice, Italy. 'This season is a tale of two cities. Rome and Paris,' creator Darren Star told Netflix's Tudum. 'Straddling both, Emily takes love and life to the next level.' Emily is now seemingly living the Italian dream: She's landed the career opportunity of a lifetime and is finally in an uncomplicated relationship with a charming Italian guy. The official Season 5 description, however, hints at trouble ahead: 'Now the head of Agence Grateau Rome, Emily faces professional and romantic challenges as she adapts to life in a new city. But just as everything falls into place, a work idea backfires, and the fallout cascades into heartbreak and career setbacks. All 10 episodes of Emily in Paris will be available to stream on Netflix on Dec. 18, 2025. Who will be part of the Season 5 cast? Among the confirmed and returning cast members are: Lily Collins (Emily Cooper), Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu (Sylvie Grateau), Ashley Park (Mindy Chen), Lucas Bravo (Gabriel), Samuel Arnold (Julien), Bruno Gouery (Luc), William Abadie (Antoine Lambert), Lucien Laviscount (Alfie), Eugenio Franceschini (Marcello), Thalia Besson (Genevieve), Paul Forman (Nico) and Arnaud Binard (Laurent G). Deadline announced two new additions to the Season 5 roster in July: Bryan Greenberg (Suits LA, Junction) will play Jake, an American expat living in Paris, and Michèle Laroque (Brilliantissime) will play Yvette, one of Sylvie's oldest friends. In May, Deadline also confirmed that Oscar-nominated actress Minnie Driver (Good Will Hunting, Will & Grace) joined the cast. Driver will portray Princess Jane, a friend of Sylvie's who marries into royalty. Camille Razat, however, is one cast member who will not be returning for Season 5. Razat, who's starred as Gabriel's on-again, off-again girlfriend since the first season, confirmed the news in an Instagram post from April 2025. 'After an incredible journey, I've made the decision to step away from Emily in Paris,' she wrote. 'This character has meant a lot to me, and I feel that her storyline has naturally come to an end. It felt like the right moment to explore new horizons.' Where did we leave off, anyway? Where do we begin?! When Gabriel finds out that Camille is pregnant — which she lies about, by the way — he begins to prioritize her and their unborn baby over Emily, which strains their relationship. At one point, Gabriel leaves Emily stranded at the top of a mountain to attend to Camille, prompting Emily's realization that she'll never be the priority in their relationship. Emily breaks up with Gabriel as a result. Eager to get away, Emily agrees to oversee the opening of a new Agence Grateau office in Rome. There she sparks a romance with Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini), an heir to a prominent Italian cashmere company. Season 4 ends with Emily back in Rome in a more permanent capacity, now as the lead of the new Agence Grateau location. Her burgeoning relationship with Marcello also influences her decision to take the job. Gabriel, meanwhile, learns of Camille's "nonpregnancy." While the series resumes in Italy, Star is assuring fans that Emily will be returning to France. 'She didn't change her Instagram handle to 'Emily in Rome.' She is working in Rome sometimes. Sylvie's company has an office in Rome. Emily's getting that on its feet,' Star previously told Deadline. 'I don't necessarily think that it means a permanent — in my mind, it's definitely not a permanent — move to Rome. We're not leaving Paris.' Do we know what the storylines are about? While we don't know a ton of details, we do know that Emily will continue to explore things with Marcello, which Collins revealed she's on board with. 'Marcello is a whole other adventure that we want for Emily because we ultimately want Emily to be able to have a better work/life balance,' she told Tudum. 'We want to have Emily be able to smile without condition. We want to see her beyond her vacay mode. And he comes at that perfect time.' Star told Tudum that the strength of Emily and Marcello's connection will factor into Season 5. 'I feel like they have a real spark and a real connection and a real romantic connection. A lot of that's going to continue to play out next season,' he said. What has the cast said? In an October 2024 interview with IndieWire, Bravo hinted at the possibility of not returning to Emily in Paris. 'The 'sexy chef' was very much part of me in Season 1 and we grew apart season after season because of the choices he makes and because of the direction they make him take. I've never been so far away from him,' he said. Bravo initially saw 'a lot of me in [Gabriel]' in Season 1, but was disappointed that they 'made him kind of unaware of his surroundings' and that he was 'always victimizing' and 'being completely lost in translation.' 'It kind of became not fun for me to shoot or to see a character I love so much and brought me so much, being slowly turned into guacamole. I really grew apart from him,' he added. The Freedom star seemed to have changed his tune by April 2025. In an interview with Parade, Bravo revealed plans to begin filming the fifth season of Emily in Paris in May and that 'it's the best season so far.' 'I had lunch with Darren a few days back, and he told me a bit without telling me too much. I think fans are going to lose it. It's the craziest one so far,' he told the outlet. When will ‘Severance' return for Season 3? Here's everything we know.
There was a nearly three-year gap between the first and second seasons of the Apple TV+ show. Is it time to clock back in for our shift at Lumon Industries? Not quite, but with Season 3 of Severance heading our way, it is time to school up on everything we can expect from the latest installment of the weirdest workplace drama on TV. The jaw-dropping — and heart-shattering — Season 2 finale of Severance in March 2025 reset the show's chessboard and finally gave the exploited workers of Lumon an upper hand against the evil Egan empire. Mark (Adam Scott) worked with his 'outtie' to rescue his wife, Gemma (Dichen Lachman), who had been severed into multiple personalities over the course of her very mysterious time at Lumon. But while 'innie' Mark had the chance to get back to the outside world, giving his 'outtie' the full control of his body forever, he couldn't do it: 'Innie' Mark wasn't willing to leave behind a life with girlfriend Helly (Brit Lower) and essentially disappear from existence. Turns out the severance procedure really works! Severance — which scooped up a whopping 27 Emmy nominations this year — has left fans eager to know where the show will go next. While the Apple TV+ series is careful to play things close to the chest, we have gotten some small hints as to what fans should be on the lookout for next season. As always: Please try to enjoy each fact equally. When will return for Season 3? The short answer is that we don't know when Severance is set to return for a third season — and there was a really, really long wait between Season 1 and Season 2. While the first season of Severance premiered in February 2022, the second one dropped nearly three years later in January 2025. Hopefully we won't have to wait as long for the next one. While the show's creative team told The Wrap that there were some reshoots to get Severance scenes up to snuff (Puck previously reported tension on the set, which executive producer and multiple-episode director Ben Stiller denied), production was also delayed due to the writer and actor strikes of 2023, which set back the pace. is keeping us fed with content in the meantime Though we don't know when Severance will return, we are still getting some new content from the team. The Hollywood Reporter and Apple TV+ just released Lower's audition tape for Helly on Instagram, which showed her performing the very first scene she appeared in on the show: Helly waking up with no memory and discovering she's been severed. And that's not all: In a CBS Sunday Morning episode on Aug. 17, Scott also gave fans a tour of the Bell Works building in New Jersey, one of the locations that 'plays' Lumon Industries on the series. The Bell Works website explains why that location was chosen for the show, saying, 'The Bell Labs Holmdel Complex, originally designed by Eero Saarinen, has a distinct dystopian vibe that perfectly aligns with series creator Dan Erickson's vision. The building's modernist architecture, long hallways, and vast working spaces set the tone for the severed floor.' Meanwhile, a billboard in classic Severance style also popped up on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles, which Scott and Lower snapped a photo in front of and posted on Instagram on Aug. 17. Severance fans are also able to grab a limited-time Lumon 'Morale Booster' smoothie at Erewhon, a popular boutique grocery store with multiple locations across the L.A. area. The smoothie is free and part of the show's For Your Consideration Emmys campaign; however, fans must give a passphrase at the counter in order to take one home. That phrase? Obviously, it's 'The work is mysterious and important.' That really was Helly in the finale It's understandable that Severance fans have trust issues surrounding Lower's character, Helly, given that her alter-ego, Helen Egan, stepped into her life during the second season, seduced Mark and sent Helly into an existential spiral. The good news? Creator Dan Erickson confirmed to the Hollywood Reporter in August that, yes, that really was Helly who Mark ran back to in the finale. Erickson and Stiller initially shot down the fan theory that Helen was masquerading again as Helly in a March Los Angeles Times article, but just in case you need reassurance: Mark and Helly are truly together in the finale, and totally themselves. Ben Stiller won't be back to direct Though Stiller will return to Severance as an executive producer, he won't direct any episodes of the show's third season, due to time commitments for a new World War II project he's working on. 'It's been full-time the last 8 months working on season 3 and I'm not going anywhere. We have incredible directors and a team that creates the show,' Stiller wrote in an Aug. 18 post on X. 'I love directing it and look forward to at some point again for sure. I feel like season 3 is going to be the best yet as we continue to evolve.' Stiller previously directed both the premiere and finales of Season 1 and Season 2, as well as seven additional episodes across both seasons. could have a happy ending We don't know when Severance will end. While Erickson told THR that the team has discussed a number of seasons they hope to do, they've yet to confirm how many there will be. However, whenever Severance does end, Erickson told the Los Angeles Times in March that he believes there's a way to make the innies and outies content, even though it's 'complicated' because life is a 'zero-sum' game. 'Reintegration has been raised as a possibility. But there's also the question of to what degree does that decimate the identity of each? Who would this new person be, and how much would they resemble the innie or the outie?' Erickson said. 'I'm an optimist. I do think that there's room for a happy ending, but it sure is complicated.' Oh, and Stiller shut down a fan theory that the characters are actually just in hell when they descend the elevator to their workplace at Lumon, calling it the 'most obvious' (but ultimately, wrong) answer on an August episode of the podcast WTF With Marc Maron. could get a spin-off In an interview with Variety in May, Stiller teased that there are plans in the works to further explore the world of Severance. 'There are two specific ideas — that I won't tell you — that we've talked about internally as possible spin-off ideas,' Stiller said. Google, sorry, but that Pixel event was a cringefest
'I P 6 8! I P 6 8!,' shouted late-night host Jimmy Fallon, trying and failing to fake excitement about the new Pixel smartphones. Fallon, who likely had never heard the technical term before, didn't seem to realize that IP68 — a rating that indicates phones can survive being submerged in water — isn't all that interesting as a selling point, nor is this water resistance feature new to Google's Pixel line. It's been around since the 2018 Pixel 3. We're on the Pixel 10 now, for reference. In a surreal moment that illustrated the tendency to overhype anything associated with AI advances, Google decided to pull out all the stops for its Pixel 10 live event on Wednesday. Google's new phones, of course, are interesting on their own merits, as they showcase how Google is integrating AI into everyday consumer experiences like taking photos, texting friends, translating phone calls, getting help out in the real world, and more. The awkward event made Google feel out of touch, however. It also suggests that the company felt it needed buzz to cover up for a lack of tech advances, which is not the case. Whether people like it or not, Google is rushing ahead of Apple to put AI into the hands of consumers through its smartphones. Had the tech giant focused on that and shown real-world examples — not those involving celebrity racecar drivers, basketball stars, or Peloton personalities — it would have been better off. The result was a watered-down, cringey, and at times almost QVC-like sales event, which Reddit users immediately dubbed 'unwatchable.' In large part, this had to do with Fallon's performance. Trying to shift his goofy late-night persona to a corporate event, he ended up coming across as deeply uninterested in the technology, necessitating an over-the-top display of decidedly less-than-genuine enthusiasm. Attempting to be a stand-in for the 'mainstream consumer,' whoever Google's marketers believe that to be, Fallon interjected with banal questions, like what's the meaning of 'agentic' or why is everyone talking about AI in smartphones, or what's a 'walled garden?' (It sounds like a pretty straightforward title to us, especially compared to much weirder tech jobs like Chief Happiness Officer or Digital Prophet.) Answers, as a result, were dumbed down for everyday users, despite the fact that they are probably very much interested in what AI models are being used, how they work, or whether their privacy is at risk when running AI on their personal devices. During the event, Fallon showed little reaction or curiosity about the interesting tidbits, like when Osterloh noted that Google's AI assistant Gemini is coming to its augmented reality glasses. Yet he pretended to be an avid user of some tech that he was clearly just shown how to use, like Circle to Search, which lets users do a Google search by tapping, circling, or highlighting anything on their screen. At another point, Fallon held up signs with quotes from supposed Reddit users about how great Pixel phones are. 'This first person says, 'whenever I'm using a phone without Circle to Search, I feel like I'm in the Stone Age,' said Fallon. (C'mon, Google, no one said that. Ever. And certainly not a Redditor.) Later, Fallon embraced Google Vice President of Marketing Adrienne Lofton like a BFF and feigned excitement over a table covered with smartphones, watches, and earbuds. (Osterloh had meanwhile gone for the handshake-quick-back-pat combo.) Lofton, looking hip in a denim-tuxedo jacket, couldn't make the marketing speak feel that casual, though. Instead, it suddenly felt like we were watching one of those old home-shopping TV channels, like QVC or HSN, where salespeople gush about whatever product is in front of them and you can see sales numbers increase with every compliment. It's powerful, it's fast, and feel the satin finish on the edges and the camera bar.' Fallon: 'Ooh, silky!' Lofton: 'See what I'm saying? The design of the aesthetic is unbelievable, and it's a Pixel. So the camera is unbelievable. And the colors, we think — look at this palette. We think these colors are sexy as hell.' Fallon: 'Well, hold it. It's Wednesday afternoon. Let's keep it PG.' The cringe. The absolute cringe. Later in the event, other stars popped in for their moments, both live and pre-recorded. Cooper came across as herself, much like in her own interviews. The chat with photographer Andre D. Wagner was also a brief moment of authenticity, as he talked about his art and technique. It's understandable that Google would want to differentiate itself from the Apple event format to draw attention to its own hardware and software advances. But who are tech announcements for if not for the people who care about tech? If Google is trying to reach the mainstream tech enthusiast, it doesn't need to do something like this. It just has to get its phones in the hands of creators who people actually watch, like Marques Brownlee. (Which, thankfully, it did, too.)
