Gajendra Shekhawat slams Sanjay Singh's
Jodhpur (Rajasthan) [India], June 1 (ANI): Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat dismissed the need to address Sanjay Singh's remarks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On Sunday, Shekhawat told reporters, 'I don't believe there is any need to respond to someone like Sanjay Singh, who is making such frivolous and low-level comments.'
Shekhawat said that the armed forces avenged the nation's daughters whose sindoor was wiped off in the Pahalgam terror attack, and that everyone is appreciating the valour of the armed forces and grateful to PM Modi.
Shekhawat added, 'The way the 'sindoor' of the nation's daughters was wiped off in the Pahalgam terror attack -- in front of their families and young children -- was heartbreaking. But our armed forces have avenged that through 'Operation Sindoor'. After this action, crores of women across the country, who were deeply pained and disturbed by that incident, now feel a sense of relief and justice. Whether it is the families of the martyrs or the general public, they are all appreciating the valour of our armed forces and expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Modi and his government.'
Sindoor, which traditionally signifies the marital status of Hindu women, serves as a poignant reference to the April 22 Pahalgam massacre, several women lost their husbands, who were killed in front of them.
The codename 'Operation Sindoor', under which India responded to the dastardly Pahalgam terror attack by striking nine sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (POK), carried a message that was both emotionally resonant and symbolically heroic.
On Saturday, Sanjay Singh criticised the BJP's 'Ghar Ghar Sindoor Abhiyan,' calling it a cheap political stunt and dubbing it the 'One Nation, One Husband' scheme. He questioned if this campaign implies that all women across India are being asked to accept the Prime Minister as their husband.
'Do chutki sindoor ka mahatva aap kya jante hai Modiji?,' said Sanjay Singh.
In a post on X, Sanjay Singh said, 'In Indian culture, women apply sindoor as a symbol of their husband's long life, respect and well-being. It reflects pride, dignity, and deep emotional meaning. But now, after pushing schemes like 'One Nation, One Election' and 'One Nation, One Leader', the Prime Minister appears to have launched 'One Nation, One Husband',' Singh said.
The AAP leader questioned whether this campaign implies that all women in the country are being asked to accept Prime Minister Modi as their husband. Similarly, the Kerala Congress unit shared a poster of PM Modi with the caption 'One Nation, One Husband' as a jab at the BJP's campaign. The poster also highlighted a month-long campaign starting June 9, with MPs walking 15-20 km daily to promote sindoor distribution.
In response, BJP Karnataka condemned Congress, tweeting, 'Congress insults Hindus day in and day out, then blames EVMs on result day. A script uglier than the gold hidden where no sun shines.'
However, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) denied media reports claiming that the party is visiting house to house to distribute sindoor (vermilion). (ANI)

Police may relocate BJP leader over hate speech
The police in Dakshina Kannada district have initiated legal proceedings to extern BJP leader and Puthila Parivara head Arun Kumar Puthila, citing concerns over law and order in the region. A formal notice has been issued directing him to appear before officials for a hearing on June 6, failing which an ex parte order may be passed. The externment proceedings are being pursued under Section 55 of the Karnataka Police Act, which allows for removal of individuals considered a threat to public order. According to an official, the authorities are considering relocating Puthila to Shahabad police station limits in Kalaburagi district. The notice, issued by the Puttur assistant commissioner, also stated that Puthila may appear in person or through legal representation. The decision has been taken based on his history of giving inflammatory speeches. According to the official, the decision follows recent incidents of communal violence and a review of multiple murder cases over the past decade, where several accused were reportedly found to be affiliated with radical organisations. 'We have identified and are closely monitoring the movements and activities of the leaders of such organisations. Directions have been issued to verify all such groups, and preventive measures will continue,' said Arun Kumar, superintendent of police. Kumar added that the police were acting within their mandate to maintain peace. 'It is the responsibility of the police to take preventive action, and legal steps will be taken against those who oppose these efforts. We will continue to implement such measures until law and order is fully restored.' In connection with ongoing preventive actions, the police also registered an FIR on June 2 against senior RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, who allegedly delivered a provocative speech on May 12 during a condolence meeting for slain Hindutva activist and rowdy-sheeter Suhas Shetty. The event took place at Madwa Palace Convention Hall in Kavalapadur village under Bantwal Rural Police Station limits. Police allege Bhat's remarks were inflammatory and could incite communal tension. A case has been booked under relevant sections of the BNS. The Dakshina Kannada district police, in coordination with the district administration, has identified 36 people for externment from the district limits following their repeated involvement in communal offences and activities that threaten public peace and order. The police crackdown has triggered protests from various groups, including demonstrations outside the Kadaba police station, where activists opposed background verifications being conducted on leaders of several organisations. In response to the developments, BJP state president BY Vijayendra issued a sharp rebuke of the Congress-led government, accusing it of using the police force to target Hindu leaders in a bid to appease the Muslim community for electoral purposes. 'In the coastal region, Hindu leaders and BJP are going out to intimidate Hindu activists to remind people of it again,' Vijayendra said, alleging that the state was showing leniency towards 'anti-social elements' while aggressively pursuing action against leaders of Hindu outfits. He also criticised the government's alleged role in the swift transfer of top police officers in Mangaluru following the murder of a Muslim truck driver. 'A conspiracy is underway to file false cases against the leaders of the Hindu community and throw them in jail,' he said. Terming the externment proceedings and FIRs as 'shameful moves to suppress freedom of expression,' Vijayendra demanded immediate withdrawal of the cases. 'The FIR registered against more than 15 leaders of Hindu organizations, including Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, should be immediately cancelled and the deportation order withdrawn, otherwise the government itself will have to be responsible for the further consequences,' he warned. In response, home minister G Parameshwara said: 'Whether Hindu or Muslim, action will be taken only if someone breaks the law. No one will be spared if they do something wrong.'

'Terror has a price': CDS Gen Chauhan blasts Pak duplicity on global stage
New Delhi/Singapore: The Shangri-La Dialogue, Asia's premier security forum, witnessed a rare yet pointed exchange between military leaders of India and Pakistan, amid escalating tensions following the recent Pahalgam terror attack. According to high-level sources present at the event, India's Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Gen Anil Chauhan sent an unambiguous message that New Delhi's patience with cross-border terrorism has reached its limit. Gen Chauhan, speaking in a closed-door session on regional security threats, made a forceful reference to India's recent Operation Sindoor—a precision military campaign targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and across the border. "This operation reflects a decisive shift in India's posture," sources said, quoting General Chauhan. "A new red line has been drawn. The era of strategic restraint in the face of terrorism is over." Sources say the Indian general stopped short of naming Pakistan directly but made clear references to its long-standing support for proxy terror elements. 'We have endured over two decades of proxy war. The toll on civilian lives, our soldiers, and our economy is unacceptable,' Chauhan reportedly said. 'Operation Sindoor was not just a tactical response, it was a strategic signal.' The comments came during concurrent sessions where Pakistan's Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, took a more familiar route, calling for 'conflict resolution' over Kashmir and warning of the risks of escalation. In a panel discussion on crisis-management mechanisms, Mirza argued that the absence of sustained dialogue could lead to uncontrollable conflict. He reiterated Pakistan's longstanding position that the Kashmir issue must be resolved 'in accordance with UN resolutions and the will of the people.' However, Indian defence officials dismissed Mirza's remarks as 'predictable deflection,' pointing to Islamabad's continued patronage of terror outfits.
