Kid Cudi Testifies in Diddy Trial

On Thursday, May 22, Kid Cudi took the witness stand in the federal sex trafficking trial against Sean 'Diddy' Combs. Cudi, whose real name is Scott Mescudi, was briefly in a relationship with Casandra Elizabeth 'Cassie' Ventura, Diddy's former partner, in 2011 that angered Diddy to the point of allegedly retaliating by blowing up Cudi's car the following year. The racketeering conspiracy charge against Diddy accuses him of running a criminal enterprise for two decades, and this moment—Diddy's associates setting fire to Cudi's Porsche by cutting open the convertible top and dropping a Molotov cocktail inside—plays a key role in the case against the hip-hop musician and mogul.
After Cassie filed her initial lawsuit in 2023 that began Diddy's legal spiral, Cudi, via a lawyer, confirmed that her recounting of his car's explosion in February 2012 was 'true.' Today's appearance on the stand will mark Cudi's first public discussion of the incident and his role in the case. Diddy has pleaded not guilty to all of the charges against him. His lawyers argue that he was 'simply not involved' in the arson allegations in particular.
While on the stand today, Cudi clarified the timeline during which he and Cassie began seeing each other in 2011. 'We were friends and dated briefly,' said Cudi. 'She and Sean Combs had some problems and they weren't dating.' In December 2011, Cassie called Cudi early one morning to inform him that Diddy learned about their relationship and that he was 'abusive' and 'she didn't know what [he] would do,' said Cudi. He drove over to pick her up and bring her to the Sunset Marquis, a boutique hotel in Los Angeles.
Cudi claims that Capricorn Clark, one of Diddy's staff members, called him while she was 'on the verge of tears' to inform him that Diddy was at his Hollywood Hills home. Cudi immediately drove home and called Diddy, asking, 'Motherfucker, are you in my house?' to which Diddy allegedly replied, 'I just want to talk to you.' When Cudi arrived, his house was reportedly in disarray as if there was a break-in, the security cameras had been moved and didn't work, Chanel gifts he purchased for his family were opened, and his dog was locked in the bathroom and 'very jittery.' Cudi alleges that he called Diddy immediately because 'I wanted to confront him, I wanted to fight him,' but ultimately decided to call the police and filed a report over the break-in.
While spending the holidays when Cassie's family in Connecticut, Cudi allegedly received a text message from Diddy asking to speak with him. 'You broke into my house, you messed with my dog, I don't want to talk with you,' Cudi allegedly replied. He said the relationship with Cassie ended shortly afterwards.
In January 2012, Cudi was in Los Angeles when he received a call from his dog sitter, who was at his house around 6:30 a.m., he claims. The sitter allegedly told Cudi that his car, a Porsche convertible, was on fire, and he returned home to see the damage himself. Photos of Cudi's car were then shown in court, with smoke damage to the car doors and a hole cut into the roof of his convertible clearly visible. A photograph of a Molotov cocktail found near the car was also shown.
Cassie alleged that Diddy learned of her seeing Cudi while he was looking through her phone at the site of a 'freak-off'—the lengthy sex marathons with male prostitutes that are at the center of this case—and he lunged at her with a wine bottle opener. Later that day, Diddy threatened to release sexually explicit videos of Cassie in retaliation, she claims. 'He was just so angry, and when I was in the room, he told me about videos that he had that he was going to release, and how he was going to hurt Scott and I,' Cassie testified. She went on to specify that Diddy threatened that Cudi's car would be 'blown up' in his driveway. Cassie claims she ended the relationship with Cudi because she was afraid of what Diddy might do next.
The three artists met at the Soho House in Los Angeles to discuss the relationship, during which they alluded to the damaged car, according to separate testimonies from both Cassie and Cudi. '[Diddy] was standing there like a Marvel super villain,' recounted Cudi. '[He] offered me water twice. It was weird, Sean Combs being so calm.' After Cudi asked about his car, he claims Diddy replied, 'I don't know what you are talking about.' During her time on the stand, Cassie described a similar exchange: 'Scott said, 'What about my vehicle?' And Sean said, 'What vehicle?' And that was the end of the meeting.'
Cudi's testimony followed four days of questioning of Cassie, and the ensuing testimony of his former collaborator Dawn Richard, both of whom claimed that Diddy verbally and physically abused them. Richard worked alongside Diddy on the Making the Band reality show for several years and in the groups Danity Kane and Diddy - Dirty Money. In that time, she alleges that Diddy verbally and physically abused her—allegations outlined in a separate lawsuit filed last year.
During her four-day testimony in the opening week of trial, Cassie shared explicit details about the 'freak-offs' at the center of the prosecution's case. 'It basically entails the hiring of an escort and setting up this experience so that I could perform for Sean,' sometimes for as long as four days, she said, and explained how Diddy directed her to hire the escorts herself. 'The freak-offs became a job where there was no space to do anything else but to recover and just try to feel normal again.'
Following the conclusion of her testimony, both Cassie and her husband, Alex Fine, released statements on the trial via her attorney Douglas H. Wigdor. 'This week has been extremely challenging, but also remarkably empowering and healing for me. I hope that my testimony has given strength and a voice to other survivors, and can help others who have suffered to speak up and also heal from abuse and fear,' Cassie shared via Wigdor. On Fine's behalf, he said 'Cassie saved Cassie. She alone broke free from abuse, coercion, violence, and threats. She did the work of fighting the demons that only a demon himself could have done to her.'

‘Doctor Who' frontman Ncuti Gatwa rules time and space in style
Trust him, he's a doctor. Ncuti Gatwa is a man of many faces. One of a handful of breakout stars from Netflix's 'Sex Education' — who also count 'White Lotus' fan favorite Aimee Lou Wood among their ranks — the Rwandan-Scottish actor went on to appear in Greta Gerwig's 'Barbie' before taking up the mantle of what is perhaps the BBC's most iconic role, becoming the Fifteenth Doctor in 'Doctor Who.' After two seasons, Gatwa's time in the TARDIS has apparently come to an end. But allow us to use this opportunity to point out just how much he's been dominating the red carpet — in addition to dominating space and time. 3 Gatwa dons Prada and Burberry attending events for the respective brands. Images: Getty Images Collaborating with stylist Felicity Kay — whose other clients include Lou Wood herself, and the ever-dashing 'Gladiator II' star Paul Mescal — Gatwa has demonstrated an aptitude for making the styles of iconic fashion houses look completely his own. Take this Prada set for the British Vogue x GQ BAFTA Fashion & Film Party in February, which in Gatwa's hands transforms from a classic, buttoned-up style to a perfect pairing with Tiffany & Co. bling. Shortly afterwards, Gatwa made an appearance at British fashion house Burberry's winter 2025 show, keeping it cool in a leather jacket and trousers with a peek-a-boo zipper detail. 3 From left: Gatwa rocks more Prada, Irish designer Simone Rocha and bold Etro. 3 From left: Gatwa is vivacious in Valentino, Ozwald Boateng and Prada at three separate events. Images: Getty Images And if you felt tremors in the ground the week of March 24, that was Gatwa landing in New York before pulling out a succession of incredible looks while promoting 'Doctor Who.' The actor appeared on 'Good Morning America' in impeccable Prada and wore a playful denim set from designer Simone Rocha the same day. He then stepped out in canary yellow trousers from Etro, and concluded a busy couple of days in show-stopping, velvet Valentino with a ruff collar for an appearance on 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.' No round-up would be complete without mentioning Gatwa's custom togs for the 2025 Met Gala: a rich purple suit courtesy of British-Ghanaian tailor extraordinaire Ozwald Boateng. And while we have your attention, we might as well mention that we loved the actor's third Prada look in recent history, this one a bright white camisole and pants, with an effortlessly draped denim jacket overtop.

Chinese Labubu doll sparks global shopping frenzy fueling billions of dollars
They're scary, but cute – and taking the internet by storm as customers race to get their hands on Labubus. Distributed exclusively by Chinese-based retailer Pop Mart, it's become near impossible to buy one of the plush pendant toy collectibles as they sell out online almost nightly, and people wait in hours-long lines to purchase them in-person. Advertisement But what is a Labubu? And why do people care so much about it? Labubu was founded by Hong Kong-born artist Kasing Lung, who became inspired by Nordic supernatural folklore and children's imaginative abilities to create Labubu and the larger 'Monsters' figurine series. Despite the first Labubu hitting the market in 2015, demand still outpaces supply in 2025. They quickly gained popularity after being sported on the designer bags of celebrities like Rihanna, Dua Lipa, BLACKPINK's Lisa, David Beckham, Emma Roberts, Hillary Duff, Kim Kardashian and countless others. Advertisement Labubus cost anywhere between $21.99 and $39.99, and its most popular form comes as a fluffy, plush pendant with an attachable clip. They're sold in 'blind boxes,' which means customers won't know what variety of Labubu they got until it's opened. However, Labubu products are regularly out of stock in Pop Mart's online store and app. In-person restockings happen at their stores once a week at 10 a.m. every Friday, and social media users have posted long lines that tend to be hundreds of people deep. 3 Shoppers have been waiting in hours-long lines to purchase a Labubu. AFP via Getty Images Advertisement 3 Labubu gained popularity when celebrities featured the toy on their designer bags. AP In the United Kingdom, Pop Mart announced it would stop selling Labubu products in their stores for safety reasons following reported brawls that had broken out among customers. To make the supply-demand imbalance worse, so-called reseller 'bots' allegedly sweep Pop Mart's website and app for new drops, and buy Labubus in mass quantities. On resale platforms like StockX, rare editions have asking prices of up to $450. Advertisement Labubu has even sparked counterfeit admiration, with some customers opting for a knock-off version dubbed 'Lafufu,' often with a much cheaper price tag and manufacturing differences. 3 Labubu is distributed exclusively by Chinese-based retailer Pop Mart. AFP via Getty Images Pop Mart did not respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment, or clarification on whether US-China trade tensions could bump up Labubu's regular retail prices even higher. Some social media users have started sharing what they call 'Labubu-nomics,' or buying methods that seem to be effective in beating out bots. There's a supposed URL-editing trick, a rapid thumb-clicking method and regularly checking Pop Mart's third-party stores via Amazon and TikTok shop livestreams. Last month, Pop Mart CEO and Chairman Wang Ning became $1.6 billion richer in a single day due to American buyers lining up for their own Labubu, Forbes reported.
