Netizens Reacts To 'Unhinged' Shannon Sharpe Losing His Cool On Someone During His 'Nightcap' Podcast
Social media users are reacting to a viral clip of Shannon Sharpe telling someone off-camera to "shut the f-ck up" while he was filming his popular podcast "Nightcap."
The clip was posted to X and Instagram, and netizens are chiming in and sharing their opinions on the matter.
One user called the former Denver Broncos player's behavior "unhinged," while another said he seemed to be "crashing out."
All of the noise comes a little over a week after a woman with the pseudonym Jane Doe filed a $50 million lawsuit against Shannon Sharpe in Nevada, alleging the Super Bowl champion assaulted her several times throughout the course of their relationship, which began in 2023.
On a recent episode of Sharpe's daily sports podcast show, "Nightcap," the media personality was talking with his host, Chad Johnson, and former NBA player Joe Johnson about the NFL before he displayed what many believed to be aggressive behavior.
In the middle of his sentence, the "Club Shay Shay" host looked off-camera and told someone to "shut the f-ck up," leaving both Johnsons speechless.
Shortly after, Sharpe looked up with a smirk before seemingly implying that he was speaking about people "next door."
Once the clip of Sharpe began circulating online, users expressed their concerns about his behavior, with one saying the 56-year-old was "crashing out."
Another user also chimed in, saying Sharpe was "becoming unhinged."
Other netizens pointed to Chad and Joe Johnson's faces, adding, "You see how everyone was looking at him?"
A fourth user posted a bold claim and pointed to his ongoing legal troubles, adding, "Man, whatever they say he did. He did that sh-t."
The clip of Sharpe circulating around the internet arrived just over a week after he was sued by a young woman in a Nevada court for allegedly assaulting her throughout their two-year relationship.
According to the suit, Sharpe and the accuser met at a Los Angeles gym in 2023 when the former allegedly offered to pay for her plastic surgery if she entered into a fitness competition with him and won.
During that time, the pair allegedly formed a relationship, which, according to the accuser's lawyer, Tony Buzbee, became controlling and dangerous.
"He demanded complete control over her time and body," Buzbee wrote in the filing, "expecting her to be at his house on his schedule, at his command, whenever he called."
The next day, Sharpe and his legal team shared a statement on his Instagram, denying the allegations made against him. He also blasted Buzbee, who was most recently involved in a legal battle with Jay-Z, for attempting to ruin his reputation and career for money.
'To my family, friends, supporters, and colleagues, I want to speak to you directly and from the heart,' Sharpe said. 'This is a shakedown. I'm gonna be open, transparent, and defend myself, because this isn't right."
He went on to say that Buzbee and his client would be "sued for defamation and trying to take me down." Sharpe added, "My career is all about real talk and honesty. I know my family and fans know exactly what this is about, and I'm going to be out there telling you whatever I need to say, just like I always do. I love all you guys."
Following his statement, Buzbee and his client shared a clip of an alleged phone call that occurred between Sharpe and the accuser, in which the Hall of Fame football player could be heard threatening to physically harm the woman on the line.
'I don't know. Anything I say you're just gonna, like, get mad at me and you're just gonna hang up on me,' a woman's voice can be heard saying in the clip.
Later, the voice presumed to be Sharpe replied, 'I'm not going to hang up on you. It is what it is.'
After that, the male's voice is heard telling the woman on the line that she was going to start being 'a d-ck to me now,' urging her to say not to 'manipulate me.'
The male voice replied: 'Oh, lord, have mercy. If you say that word one more time, I'm gonna f-cking choke the sh-t out of you when I see you.'
The female voice said, 'I don't wanna be choked,' to which the male caller said, 'Yes, you do. I don't think you have a choice in the matter.'
The negative attention prompted Sharpe to step down from his gig hosting ESPN's "First Take" with Stephen A. Smith. In his departure message, Sharpe addressed the chatter and said his relationship with the accuser was "100% consensual."
"I sincerely appreciate the overwhelming and ongoing support I have received from my family, fans, friends, and colleagues," he finished.

Bryson DeChambeau returns to defend U.S. Open title as golf's YouTube king
OAKMONT, Pa. — Bryson DeChambeau returns to the 2025 U.S. Open as the defending champion and golf's YouTube king, at least among the pro ranks. From his 2 million YouTube fans watching him try to "Break 50" with the likes of Donald Trump, various influencers and athletes to joining Johnson Wagner as he tried to reproduce his remarkable bunker shot at 18 at Pinehurst No. 2 during Golf Channel's "Live From," people love DeChambeau's content creation. The latest example was on display at Oakmont, site of this week's 125th U.S. Open, when DeChambeau showed up for a practice round on May 31 and filmed every shot. It was riveting stuff that no other player had done before. 'He's done a heck of a job using social media channels to connect with viewers, connect with golfers, and show his true personality because I think he probably didn't do a great job of that early on in his career,' NBC's Kevin Kisner said. ESPN's Scott Van Pelt took his analysis of DeChambeau's reboot as a YouTube star – he's got nearly 3 million Instagram followers and another 2 million on TikTok, too – one step further. 'I think he's now kind of figured out where he wants to be. He's almost reinvented himself in some ways,' he said. 'He's grown as a human, it seems to me. Last year he came and sat down in the Butler Cabin with me on Thursday and Friday, and he's been sort of this — he's played very different characters in a movie. It's almost like he's been many different versions of himself. 'And when he sat and visited with me last year, I just remarked to a number of people, he just seems like a different guy. He seems more at ease with himself. I don't know if it's the tour he plays, I don't know if it's just part of growing up, which is part of all of our lives, but he seemed comfortable, entirely comfortable with himself.' DeChambeau, 31, finally is becoming comfortable in his own skin, and YouTube has helped him let his guard down, he said, 'showing the fans a side of me that was locked up for so long.' 'What's funny is as much as my guard has been let down, I feel like I'm more strategic in how I deliver things and how I give perspective on things. Before, I was pretty up front and would just say things the way I wanted to whenever I wanted to,' he explained. 'Now it's more strategic in the way I do it and deliver it because I think there's a lot of good that can come from that.' DeChambeau has said he's taken a page out of the playbook of MrBeast, whose viral content are the most-watched videos on YouTube. Asked whether any of his peers have turned to him for advice on how to launch a YouTube channel, DeChambeau highlighted Phil Mickelson. Lefty said he'd always seen what he called the playful, fun, intelligent and interesting side of DeChambeau. 'He's able to showcase that and not have who he is be filtered by a middle person,' Mickelson said. 'He controls what content he puts out there and what he wants to shoot and so forth. So his personality comes out. It's been remarkable to see the evolution of it and the way the public has responded to him because he's always been like that. It just hasn't been able to be noticed, I guess, properly.' In discussing the tips he has passed along to Mickelson, DeChambeau said he reads the comments section and tries to give the people what they want. 'We've grown our channel to over 2 million followers now and couldn't be more thankful, and it's literally by listening to the comments section, by looking at the comments and seeing what they want,' he said. Major champion. Long driver. YouTube star. A case could be made that the latter has become what drives DeChambeau. 'It's a new space. I'm learning how to become a little bit more entertaining,' he said. 'It's not just golf, golf, golf, trying to win every really what gets me up in the morning and gives me a lot of passion for this game." Former NBA Star's On-Court Encounter With Fans Ends With Police Involved
Former NBA star DeMarcus Cousins found himself at the center of an altercation with fans that evoked memories of the so-called "Malice at the Palace" that occurred more than 25 years ago. The incident went down Monday during a Puerto Rico basketball league game. Cousins, 34, is playing with the Guaynabo Mets. At some point in the fourth quarter, the former Sacramento Kings center got into a verbal altercation with a fan sitting courtside. The fan was gesturing "cry baby" at Cousins, who clearly took offense. Cousins grabbed his crotch, prompting the fan to flip him the bird. Cousins pushed the fan's hands down, and that's when the altercation turned physical, as more fans rushed in to the fan's aid and Cousins' teammates stepped in to prevent things from getting even more out of control. The former University of Kentucky star ultimately was ejected from the game, but he didn't leave quietly. As he was being escorted by security and police, Cousins got into another skirmish with fans, who threw drinks at the agitated center. Police and security had to physically restrain Cousins and some fans, too. Cousins last played in the NBA in the 2021-22 season. He was the No. 5 overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft by the Kings. He averaged 19.6 points and 10.2 rebounds per game over the course of 11 seasons. He first joined the Mets in 2023 before briefly played in Taiwan and Mongolia. He returned to the Mets this season. Cousins' altercation with fans reminded basketball fans of the infamous November 2004 incident at The Palace of Auburn Hills, where members of the Indiana Pacers -- primarily a then-known Ron Artest -- got into a melee with Detroit Pistons fans. The violent brawl led to numerous suspensions and it forever left a stain on the NBA.
