She participated as the chief guest at the inauguration of the Government BC Girls Hostel at Bukkapatnam, along with Puttaparthi MLA Palle Sindhura Reddy, on Tuesday.
Minister Savitha criticised the previous YSRCP government, stating that the education system was completely neglected over the past five years. She appreciated Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for prioritising education and added that Minister for Education Nara Lokesh was taking proactive steps to improve government schools and hostels by enhancing basic infrastructure.
She said the current government has allocated a significant budget for the welfare of backward communities and was supporting them economically. Urging students to make the most of improved facilities, she called on them to compete and excel in academics. Education, she said, brings respect and opportunities in society. MLA Palle Sindhura Reddy noted that Andhra Pradesh leads among all Indian States in student welfare. She highlighted that the 'Talli Ki Vandanam' scheme under which the government has deposited nearly Rs 8,700 crore directly into mothers' accounts for their children's future.

MLA Sindhura also appealed to the Minister to sanction a government BC hostel and complete the Mahatma Jyotirao Phule hostel construction in Bukkapatnam. In response, Minister Savitha assured that the government would take steps to establish a new BC girls' hostel and release funds for the Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Residential School.
She also promised to resolve all the issues raised by MLA Sindhura Reddy in the Puttaparthi constituency. On the occasion, Minister Savitha and MLA Sindhura Reddy, through the APUWJ Journalist Welfare Fund, handed over Rs 30,000 financial aid cheque to ailing journalist Rajagopal from Hindupur, in the presence of association representative Pullayya Babu.

PM Transfers Rs 2000 Each As 20th Installment OF PM-Kisan To Over 9.7 crore Farmers

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has, for the second time, released the 20th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme from Kashi (Varanasi), transferring direct financial assistance to over 9.7 crore farmers across India. This instalment involves the disbursal of approximately Rs 20,500 crore into farmers' bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), ensuring transparency and the exclusion of middlemen. PM-KISAN is a central sector scheme launched by the Government of India in December 2018, officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi in February 2019 in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. The scheme provides small and marginal land-holding farmers with minimum income support of ₹6,000 annually, delivered in three equal instalments of Rs 2,000 each. Funded entirely by the central government, the programme aims to supplement farmers' financial needs for agricultural inputs, reduce dependency on moneylenders, and enhance crop productivity and rural livelihood stability. Originating as an extension of the Telangana government's successful Rythu Bandhu scheme, PM-KISAN is designed to provide direct income support to farmers nationwide. Since its launch, the scheme has disbursed over Rs 3.69 lakh crore to farmers through multiple instalments, empowering approximately 12 crore farmer families annually. The initiative is a key component of the government's focus on farmer welfare, rural development, and agricultural prosperity in India's vast agrarian economy. By directly transferring funds to the Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts of eligible farmers, PM-KISAN ensures timely assistance without intermediaries, helping farmers invest in quality seeds, fertilizers, and other essential inputs. The scheme's continued rollout reflects the government's sustained commitment to strengthening the agricultural sector and improving the livelihoods of millions of small and marginal farmers across the country.

"There was a gradual increase of passengers density on the FOB after 8.15 pm. Many of the passengers were carrying big headloads affecting smooth movement on the FOB. 'There was a big headload falling from one of the passengers and the pressure was passed on to the stairs of PF 14/15 stairs, resulting in the tripping of passengers on the stairs. This led to an incident at 8.48 pm on FOB-3, which was limited to the stairs of FOB. Consequently, passengers fell on each other." The Minister informed the House that in the incident, 18 people lost their lives and 15 others were injured. According to Mr. Vaishnaw, an ex-gratia amount of Rs 10 lakh to the next of kin of each deceased, an amount of Rs 2.5 lakh each to the grievously injured and Rs 1 lakh each to other injured has been paid. "Accordingly, a total amount of Rs 2.01 crore has been paid to 33 victims and their family members," Mr. Vaishnaw said. The Railway Minister said the government has taken several actions to handle the heavy rush of passengers at stations, including the creation of permanent holding areas and access control measures — allowing passengers with confirmed tickets — at 73 identified stations, widening foot overbridges, installing CCTV cameras, developing war rooms at big stations, among others.
