Detroit Lions rookie wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa continues to turn heads this offseason.
TeSlaa has routinely been a standout during training camp, and that has not changed in the Lions' three preseason contests, each of which have seen the Arkansas product shine.
The Michigan native continued his red-hot summer at practice on Tuesday, when he reeled-in the "catch of the day" with cornerback D.J. Reed in coverage, leaving the veteran stunned.
"Catch of the day: Rookie wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa had a one-on-one rep with veteran cornerback D.J. Reed early in practice and TeSlaa made a terrific over the shoulder catch right at the pylon of the end zone with Reed in pretty good coverage," Tim Twentyman of DetroitLions.com wrote.
"Even Reed couldn't believe the catch as he looked over at TeSlaa and asked him if he really caught it."
It would appear that this is the catch.
TeSlaa was one of the most surprising selections in the 2025 NFL draft, as not only was he not on anyone's radar in the third round, the Lions traded up to get him.
So far, it looks like general manager Brad Holmes knew exactly what he was doing. TeSlaa had two catches for 46 yards in the Hall of Fame Game and has scored touchdowns in each of the last two exhibition contests.
"He's playing wide receiver like how we like our guys to play," Holmes said to Kay Adams on the Up & Adams Show onMonday. "He's blocking, he's training in the run game. I know when you hear blocking in the run game from a wide receiver, it's like, 'Well, you've got to catch the football,' but that just shows a lot about the competitiveness and the desire of just a football player in general."
"He started to catch up and he's started to understand the physicality it takes," Jared Goff said of TeSlaa. "He certainly has a chance to have a role in our offense and has done a great job getting better every day."
With TeSlaa ascending and Tim Patrick having a quiet camp overall that has also seen him deal with injury, there is a thought that the rookie could steal some snaps away from the veteran sooner rather than later.
At the very least, we should see TeSlaa getting some playing time early on in the season, and not just on special teams.

Blue Jays' George Springer reaches impressive personal milestone

Blue Jays' George Springer reaches impressive personal milestone originally appeared on The Sporting News George Springer has already outdone himself this season for the Toronto Blue Jays. He hit 19 home runs in 2024. But now in 2025, he's already up to 20 with a lot of season left to play. Springer homered Tuesday night to reach that 20-homer plateau, and it's an exceptional accomplishment in his career. It's now the ninth time that Springer has hit 20 homers in a season. MORE: Juan Soto, Josh Naylor and Cal Raleigh are making stolen bases cool again The moment is especially cool because it took Springer 145 games last season to get to the 19 HRs, but it's only taken 105 this season to get to 20. MORE: Phillies' pitcher Matt Strahm has the funniest reason for investing in Pokemon cards Now 35 years old, there was a question after last season as to whether Springer was washed up. But now he's batting .291 with an .899 OPS. He's got 13 steals and 61 RBI, too. This is a special campaign for one of the top outfielders of his generation. Springer has 281 career homers and a career OPS of .824. He was such an accomplished player with the Astros, and now he's having a special season for the Blue Jays in the middle of this special campaign for Toronto in general. Bears will play their starters in the final preseason game

The Bears will play their starters in the preseason finale Friday night against the Chiefs. Bears coach Ben Johnson told Kay Adams on Up & Adams that Caleb Williams and the rest of the team's healthy starters will play. 'We'll go ahead, and we'll play,' Johnson said. 'We'll see how long it is. We're going to get through a couple days here of practice, and we'll determine for how long, but we need to go through this.' Johnson hinted earlier this week that he would play the starters this week. Chiefs coach Andy Reid announced Monday that his starters would play some against the Bears. 'They'll start it off, for sure, and then we'll see how it goes from there,' Reid said. The Bears opened Sunday night's game against the Bills with their starters on the field. Williams and receivers Rome Odunze and DJ Moore each played 14 snaps. Williams was 6-of-10 for 107 yards and a touchdown.

Warriors predicted to sign former star to $11.7 million contract in free agency

Warriors predicted to sign former star to $11.7 million contract in free agency originally appeared on The Sporting News The Golden State Warriors need a starting center. The Warriors' free agency moves haven't amounted to anything so far, but many are expecting them to bring in a new big man this offseason. Dan Favale of Bleacher Report wrote about his predictions for the NBA's best available free agents, and the Warriors landing a center made the list. 'Al Horford is most likely bound for the Golden State Warriors. Like a handful of others, he's just waiting on the Jonathan Kuminga situation (debacle?) to resolve itself. Depending on how the JK soap opera plays out, the Warriors could need to change up their offer. If Kuminga proves to be ultra-expensive, it might leave them with only the veteran's minimum to dangle. If he leaves or gets moved in a sign-and-trade, they could technically access the entire non-taxpayer mid-level exception. Count on the middle ground winning out again, and the 39-year-old joining Golden State for the taxpayer's mid-level exception. Prediction: Al Horford signs with the Warriors for two years and $11.7 million, with a player option for 2026-27.' While everyone is expecting a Warriors-Al Horford free agency signing, this number makes things real. The Warriors would be getting Horford for relatively cheap in this prediction. The Warriors would have to be careful about the player option in this deal. Horford is old and is already considering retirement. The Warriors would have to hope that he either proves next season that he still has some left in the tank or that he gives them one last great season before going into retirement. Follow The Sporting News on WhatsApp The Warriors should be signing Horford soon. They need to hope that the Jonathan Kuminga contract negotiations are solved soon. If not, Horford might not even be taking a deal like this one. More NBA: Per Curry's request, Warriors likely to sign NBA champ who averaged 6.5 ppg last year
