Brock Lesnar's daughter wins NCAA Division I women's shot put championship
The Lesnar genes are reigning supreme. Mya Lesnar, the daughter of WWE legend and former UFC champion Brock Lesnar, earned the NCAA Division I women's shot put crown on Friday. The Colorado State senior added to her already-impressive resume with her first outdoor track and field title - she won the indoor title in the 2023-24 season. CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON Lesnar was unable to defend that championship earlier this year, despite winning the Mountain West championship. (She finished fourth at nationals.) But she came to the outdoor season with a vengeance. Her very first throw went 19.01 meters (62 feet, 4.5 inches), and no one else came particularly close for the rest of the meet. In fact, no else reached the 62-feet mark. "It was pretty cool. Obviously, throws like that don't happen often. To do it on my first one is pretty cool," Lesnar said after the meet. "It meant more to me to do it on the first one and start the competition strong." WWE WOMEN'S CHAMPION TIFFANY STRATTON GOES VIRAL AFTER FIRST PITCH AT METS GAME GOES HORRIBLY WRONG Earlier this season, Lesnar threw a career-best 19.60 meters, or 64'3.75". That is currently the seventh-longest throw by a woman this year. Lesnar has been named to both the indoor and outdoor All-Mountain West teams in each of the last three years. She also earned the conference's weight throw title during the 2023-24 indoor season. But it had been "a while" since she was "number one again." "A lot of emotions. A lot of hard work. A lot of dedication. And then just executing, not overthinking," she said. Lesnar's father won a national championship while wrestling at the University of Minnesota in 2000 in the 285-pound category. After that, he became an instant hit in the WWE, becoming the youngest person to be the company's main title belt at the age of 25 just two years later. Chelsea Green Replaced In Queen Of The Ring On WWE SmackDown
Chelsea Green wasn't on hand for tonight's episode of WWE SmackDown, and as a result, missed out on her Queen of the Ring qualifying match. During tonight's episode of WWE SmackDown, Green was set to take part in a match against Alexa Bliss, Charlotte Flair, and Candice LeRae. However, SmackDown GM was interrupted by Green's crew backstage. In a FaceTime with Green, she said she couldn't find an acceptable flight to the 'one-horse town' of Lexington, Kentucky. Advertisement As a result, she couldn't make it, and asked Aldis to postpone the match. Aldis was having none of it, though, and said that wouldn't be happening. Instead, it would Alba Fyre, who was available, to take her part. Green tried to protest, but Aldis was hearing none of it. The winners of the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments will receive a respective championship match at WWE SummerSlam. To determine the finals, each brand will have two four-way matches, with superstars advancing. Semifinals for the tournament will also begin a cross-brand competition. King and Queen of the Ring was last held last year, with its own official event also in Saudi Arabia. That show saw Gunther defeat Randy Orton in the King of the Ring tournament, while Nia Jax beat Lyra Valkyria in the Queen of the Ring final. Kiana James hits a move on Natalya during their match on "WWE Raw."(via WWE) James hasn't been inside the ring since the June 17, 2024 episode of "WWE Raw." She participated in an MITB qualifying match against Iyo Sky and Zelina Vega. Sky won the match, but the outcome wasn't the talking point. That's because James suffered a leg injury and was put on the inactive list while she was recovering. Several outlets have reported that WWE officials are high on James. It was said that James impressed those backstage with her brief time on the red brand before her injury. The belief internally is that James has high upside. Advertisement The "SmackDown" brand has been loading up on some fresh talent, such as former international and "NXT" star Giulia. It's also been reported that former TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace is expected to join the blue brand at some point.
