Muscat: The Royal Academy of Management (RAM) announced the launch of the Future of Human Capital Management programme, a groundbreaking initiative that aims to strengthen and hone national competencies of national talent, enabling them to contribute to achieving Oman's strategic vision for the future.
Designed for human resource development managers across the public sector, the programme aims to cultivate high-performing and supportive organisational environments by enhancing participants' effectiveness and ensuring the efficient implementation of strategies.
Delivered in partnership with Integrated Business Solutions (IBS), the new initiative reflects an ongoing commitment to achieving organisational excellence by investing in human capital.
The two-month programme will equip participants with advanced capabilities as it explores strategic workforce planning, talent management, leadership development, and effective communication, each playing an essential role in improving productivity and organisational performance.
Ultimately, the Future of Human Capital Management programme will enable participants to implement their new knowledge and practical skills, contributing to driving institutional efficiency and innovation.
'The launch of the Future of Human Capital Management programme represents a pivotal step towards the realisation of Vision 2040 by investing in our national talent. We believe that equipping human resource leaders with advanced leadership capabilities is essential to drive the development of dynamic and innovative workplaces, which directly contribute to enhancing organisational performance and towards achieving Oman's long-term goals. The programme also seeks to provide participants with an opportunity to reflect on cutting-edge global practices and explore effective practical tools, enabling them to become strategic partners in driving impactful and lasting results in their organizations and society at large,' said Abla Al Buali, the supervisor of the new programme.
The Future of Human Capital Management programme takes a holistic learning approach that links theory with practice. Participants will engage in interactive workshops and explore real-world case studies and hands-on activities that are directly applicable to their professional roles. It will also include dialogue sessions with distinguished local and international experts in the area of human capital management.

Salalah: An introductory meeting titled "Safe Investment Environment" was held on Monday in the Wilayat of Salalah in Dhofar Governorate. Organised by the Public Prosecution and the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), the event aimed to enhance the business environment through integrated institutional efforts and to establish principles of transparency and legal compliance. This is meant to contribute to creating a safe and attractive investment environment. The meeting was attended by a number of ministers and officials, members of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Board of Directors, investors, business owners, company representatives, and those interested in legal and economic affairs. Nasr Khamis Al Sawai, the Public Prosecutor, explained that the Public Prosecution seeks to expand its partnership with national institutions to spread legal awareness within the private sector and protect the business environment from any unlawful practices. This, he noted, strengthens justice and enhances economic stability. Faisal Abdullah Al Rowas, Chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Board of Directors, affirmed that the meeting is part of a strategic partnership with the Public Prosecution to enhance a legislative environment that stimulates investment in Oman and supports efforts to attract local and foreign capital. Naif Hamed Fadhil, Head of the Chamber's branch in Dhofar Governorate, pointed out that the meeting serves as a platform for institutional dialogue on ways to develop the investment environment in the governorate. He affirmed that Dhofar is rich with promising potential, making it an attractive destination for investors in various sectors. Assistant Public Prosecutor Khalfan Said Al Maawali presented a working paper that reviewed criminal liability under the Commercial Companies Law, the Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Law, and the compliance mechanisms that companies must adhere to. The meeting included a dialogue session with the Public Prosecutor and the Chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The session addressed key legislative challenges facing the private sector and discussed practical proposals for developing the legal environment and boosting Oman's investment appeal. This meeting is part of a series of initiatives aimed at embedding the principles of governance and transparency and strengthening institutional partnership. This aligns with the aspirations of Oman Vision 2040 to empower the private sector and support the national business environment.

Oman's electricity generation grows by 12.6%

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman's total electricity generation recorded a significant growth of 12.6 percent by the end of May 2025, reaching 18,948.9 gigawatt per hour. This is an increase from 16,829.3 gigawatt-hours during the same period in 2024, according to preliminary data from the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI). Al Dakhiliyah Governorate's electricity generation increased to 1,760.7 gigawatt-hours by the end of May 2025. Musandam Governorate also saw electricity generation rise by 19.2 percent, totalling 185.8 gigawatt-hours, while electricity generation in Muscat Governorate increased by 5.5 percent to 116.7 gigawatt-hours. In North and South Al Sharqiyah Governorates, electricity generation reached 3,831.7 gigawatt-hours, marking a 4.1 percent growth. Total production in North and South Al Batinah and Al Dhahirah Governorates was approximately 10,501.6 gigawatt-hours, an increase of 1.3 percent compared to the same period last year. In contrast, Dhofar Governorate recorded a decrease of 4 percent in electricity generation amounting to 2,281.5 gigawatt-hours. Electricity generation in Al Wusta Governorate also slightly declined by 0.7 percent, reaching 60.4 gigawatt-hours. Statistics showed that Oman's net electricity generation—which includes purchases by the Oman Power and Water Procurement Company and the Rural Areas Electricity Company—increased by 13.1 percent to 18,483.1 gigawatt-hours by the end of May 2025, compared to 16,339.3 gigawatt-hours at the end of the same period last year. On the other hand, the quantity of water produced in Oman saw a slight decrease of 0.9 percent by the end of May 2025, reaching approximately 206.5989 million cubic metres, compared to 208.5631 million cubic metres during the same period in 2024.

Muscat: Oman's central bank raised OMR33 million by way of allotting treasury bills on Monday. The value of the allotted Treasury bills include OMR5 million, for a maturity period of 28 days. The average accepted price reached OMR99.700 for every OMR100, and the minimum accepted price arrived at OMR99.700 per OMR100. The average discount rate and the average yield reached 3.91071% and 3.92248%, respectively. Additionally, treasury bills amounting to OMR28 million for a maturity period of 91 days was also allotted. The average accepted price reached OMR98.944 for every OMR100 and the minimum accepted price arrived at OMR98.940 per OMR100. The average discount rate and the average yield reached 4.23732% and 4.28257%, respectively. Treasury Bills are short-term highly secured financial instruments issued by the Ministry of Finance, and they provide licensed commercial banks the opportunity to invest their surplus funds. The Central Bank of Oman (CBO) acts as the Issue Manager and provides the added advantage of ready liquidity through discounting and repurchase facilities (Repo). It may be noted that the interest rate on the Repo operations with CBO is 5.00% while the discount rate on the Treasury Bills Discounting Facility with CBO is 5.50%.
