Ministry of Public Works clears snow and reopens roads, urges safe driving and compliance with ISF Instructions
NNA - As storm Adam continues to impact mountainous areas, teams from the Ministry of Public Works and Transport on Tuesday intensified their efforts to remove snow and reopen roads to ensure safe and accessible transportation for citizens. According to the latest updates, all roads in Ainata are now fully open, as is the Bsharri–Cedars road, which is accessible to traffic. In Tannourine, all roads have been cleared except for the Tannourine–Hadath El Jebbeh route, which remains restricted to four-wheel-drive vehicles. In the Jbeil highlands, all roads are now passable, while access to the Qammouaa area is available on two routes. However, the Qammouaa–Marjhin–Hermel and Qammouaa–Shanbouq roads will remain closed until the end of the season due to their high-altitude conditions. Meanwhile, in Dahr El Baydar, the road has been reopened to all vehicles, including trucks. Specialized teams continue to conduct rescue operations and extract stranded vehicles in several areas. Given the ongoing weather conditions, the Ministry of Public Works and Transport urged citizens to adhere to directives from the Internal Security Forces and follow road safety guidelines, particularly in mountainous regions. The ministry also advised drivers to ensure their vehicles are equipped with necessary winter gear and to avoid taking unnecessary risks on unsafe roads. =========R.H.
