Shocking dashcam footage shows the truck passing through an intersection as the former teacher, from Muirdrum, near Carnoustie, Angus, flies into view along the ground.
He appears to get dragged under the huge tyres as sparks come from his bike, followed by a sickening thud.
Terrified onlookers quickly rushed to William's side and images show him being placed on a spinal board by medics at the scene.
He was taken to the Phramongkutklao Hospital where doctors had to amputate both his legs to prevent a fatal infection from spreading.
He remains in a critical condition in an induced coma while battling kidney failure.
The expat is now in desperate need of A Negative blood type donations due to the amount of blood loss he suffered.
Two of his sisters, June and Audrey, have flown to be at their brother's bedside and have been donating blood to aid his recovery.
Speaking to The Courier from Bangkok, June said: 'Willie has sadly lost both his legs above the knee.
'He is also fighting kidney failure because of the severity of his injuries and remains on kidney dialysis.
'He has opened his eyes and he has spoken to us, but he is wondering where he is.

'He still doesn't understand what's happened and has no idea yet that he has lost his legs.
'It will be a few days yet before he is in a position where the doctors will be able to tell him.
'He is currently very confused, but he did recognise us.'
June says Willie will remain in hospital in Bangkok for the foreseeable future.
She said: 'At the moment it is all unknown.
'He has a long way to go and a lot of recovery to do before he is able to consider going home."
A Gofundme page has been set up with nearly £5,000 already donated at the time of writing.
June added: 'So many people have already donated money and sent messages of support, while people in Thailand have also responded to our request for blood donations for Willie.
'We are so grateful for everything that is being done for him and the messages from home.
'We will just remain with Willie while he fights this dreadful situation.'
Police are still searching for the driver after he fled the scene without stopping.
Lieutenant Chanon Kaewsom of the Phaya Thai Police Station said: 'We are currently reviewing security camera footage.
'We've already received footage from the government and Bangkok Metropolitan Administration cameras.
'Unfortunately, none of them captured the moment of the crash — just the truck passing through.
'However, we have footage from the dashcam, but the licence plate was not visible due to glare from the lights.
'The victim is in a critical condition, and both his legs are severely damaged. If we receive any new leads or evidence, we will do everything we can to track down the truck owner.'
A Foreign Office spokesperson told The Scottish Sun: 'We are supporting a British man who has been hospitalised in Thailand.
'We are in contact with his family and the local authorities.'

Brit medic, 26, found dead in Ukraine after serving in war against Russia ‘may have been murdered with fatal overdose'
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A BRIT medic has been found dead in Ukraine and may have been murdered with fatal overdose, it has been claimed. Katherine Mielniczuk, 26, died from opioid intoxication and Ukrainian cops are probing her death. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 5 British medic Katherine Mielniczuk was found dead in eastern Ukraine Credit: Facebook 5 Katherine spent 18 months on the frontline in the war against Russia 5 Questions have now been raised if her death involved 'foul play' Katherine Mielniczuk went to Ukraine after Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022, compelled to use her medical skills to help those in need. The young woman, who was affectionately known as "Kat" by her peers, is understood to have served in Ukraine as an instructor and combat medic with a group which called itself Menace Medics. She died in the early hours of Christmas Eve in eastern Ukraine back in 2023 with her colleagues making the tragic find. Police initially said they did not believe the 26-year-old's death was suspicious. But questions have now been raised if Katherine's death involved "foul play" before she was found dead in her bed. And a coroner has demanded to know if someone "administered something without her consent" before her colleagues discovered her lifeless body. Cops have now reportedly launched an "ongoing" murder investigation into Kat's death, according to the Mirror. Assistant coroner Ivor Collett told the court in Croydon: 'We know that the police authorities in Sloviansk did initiate an investigation into Katherine's death under article 115 of their criminal code dealing with homicide. "The latest from them is that the investigation is ongoing.' Speaking to the Mielniczuk family's solicitors, he added: 'Has there been foul play? Has someone administered something without Katherine's consent? "Has someone put them into her system without her being willing? "What we are really concerned with is what happened while she was a combat medic in Ukraine.' Trump and Putin to meet face-to-face in Alaska next Friday to discuss Ukraine peace deal The 26-year-old, who graduated in chemistry at the University of Bristol, spent almost two years risking her life to provide medical supplies and emergency care to injured Ukrainian and foreign fighters. Kat travelled to the most volatile stretches of the frontline and earning herself the nickname 'Apache'. Her family, from Westerham in Kent, said in a previous statement: "She devoted her life to helping others, as a medic, as a scientist and researcher, and as a friend. "She volunteered her last 18 months in Ukraine, working in logistical aid and as a combat medic all over the country. "It is impossible to truly convey what an incredible woman Katherine was or how deeply and widely she was loved and will be missed. "Kasia is gone, but the endless warmth, love and grace she brought to the world will never be lost." A donation fund was set up to assist Katherine's family by helping them cover the costs of flying to Ukraine and having Katherine's body returned to the UK. One person, who called Katherine a "dear friend", posted in the fund: "I will forever miss our hours-long phone calls, where I could talk to you about anything and everything, and walking dogs from the animal shelter together." Another wrote: "At university you were always someone who I could turn to and looked out for me. I'm really going to miss you. I'll see you when I'm older xx." 5 Kat travelled to the most volatile stretches of the frontline Credit: Facebook

Teen girl mauled by 10 dogs so badly her mum did not recognise her
WARNING - GRAPHIC CONTENT: Tracy Azpeitia, 17, had to have 500 stitches and cannot walk on her own after she was mauled by at least 10 large dogs while jogging A teenage girl was brutally mauled and left with devastating injuries after a pack of dogs attacked her while she was jogging. Tracy Azpeitia, 17, had been on a morning run near her home when she was unexpectedly surrounded and attacked by at least 10 "large-breed dogs". Detectives have launched a probe into the horrifying incident after the teen's family said she nearly died in the terrifying mauling, on July 17. Cops have since seized 16 dogs from a property near the attack site, as the teenager's mother revealed the heartbreaking question her daughter asked after the attack. It comes after a mum was left 'traumatised' after a dog walker pushed her in canal as she cycled to work. READ MORE: Octopus 'climbs out of aquarium tank' and 'tries to eat boy, 6,' in front of mum Tracy's mother, Maria Azpeitia, said: "I got close to her and [she asked me] 'Mom, am I still pretty?' and I said, 'Yeah, you're beautiful'." The teenager had been walking to a workout centre in Newberry Springs, California, when the dogs pounced on her. A hero neighbour heard the young girl screaming and quickly called emergency services. The heartbroken mum also revealed the horrifying condition her daughter was left in after the terror animal attack. She told ABC7: "I thought they ripped her arms off. That's what it looked like." She added: "I didn't know who she was. She was so dirty, covered in dirt, so I couldn't recognise my daughter. I recognized her bra, that's what I recognised." Maria added that she never expected this horror attack to happen as the teen walked the same way most days. She added: "I thought she was going to be fine because she walks to her bus stop every morning. I never thought anything would happen to her." Tracy's stepdad, Carlos Ramirez, revealed the teen needed 500 stitches for the bites and cuts she received from the animals. He said: "It was not one dog or two dogs, it was a lot. I mean, they bit every part of her body you could think of except for her ankles." The teenager has been released from hospital but her parents say the 17-year-old cannot walk on her own due to her injuries. A GoFundMe page has been set up by Tracy's family to help fund her medical costs and help with her recovery. The page wrote: "She was getting ready to do her senior year of high school this year. "Now, because of this, she has to stay home and go to several doctor's appointments and rehab. Due to the trauma, she cannot sleep at night; she's having nightmares." The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department has launched a criminal investigation into the horror dog attack.

Three Thai soldiers injured by landmine on border with Cambodia, army says
Three Thai soldiers were injured on Saturday after one tripped a landmine in territory along its frontier with Cambodia, Thailand's army has said as it accused the neighbouring country of planting concealed weapons in violation of international law. The incident, in which a Thai sergeant major suffered severe injuries, came two days after the countries reasserted their commitment to a ceasefire that ended a brief but intense period of fighting. Cambodia denies the accusation. The army's statement said the incident took place in Thailand's Sisaket province and 'clearly demonstrates to both domestic and international society that the use of concealed weapons in border areas continues to exist, constituting a clear violation of the Ottawa Convention by the Cambodian side'. The Ottawa Convention is an international treaty banning the use of landmines, signed by 164 countries, including Cambodia and Thailand. The incident on Saturday risks enflaming tensions, which remain high despite the fragile truce agreed on 29 July to end the armed conflict. Five days of fighting broke out last month after five Thai soldiers were wounded when one stepped on a mine in disputed territory. The clashes, which killed at least 43 people on either side of the border and displaced more than 260,000, amounted to the worst fighting between the neighbouring countries in more than a decade. Since the truce was agreed, both sides have accused the other of breaching it. Relations remain rocky while anger is being stirred online by a mix of disinformation, threats and nationalism. Two days after the two sides met in Malaysia to sign a 13-point agreement on implementing their ceasefire, the Thai army's statement said that Saturday's incident constituted 'a significant obstacle to the implementation of ceasefire measures and peaceful resolution of problems'. Cambodia strongly denies laying new concealed weapons. 'We have not, and will not, plant new landmines,' the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority said in a statement. It said that Cambodia has cleared more than 1m mines and nearly 3m other unexploded weapons dating back to a period of war and civil unrest that began in 1970 and lasted more than three decades. A Thai sergeant major suffered severe injuries, including losing his left foot in Saturday's incident, according to the Thai army statement, while two privates suffered less serious injuries.
