Man arrested after allegedly threatening to bomb 'Saturday Night Live' studio in New York: report

Yahoo05-04-2025
A man has been arrested following an alleged bomb threat in New York City, and multiple outlets have reported that he specifically threatened the Saturday Night Live studio.
A spokesperson for the New York Police Department told Entertainment Weekly that an individual allegedly made "terroristic threats" in the Midtown North Precinct on Tuesday, April 1, at around 7 a.m. The suspect, 48-year-old Michael Branham, was charged with making a terrorist threat.
Court records show that Branham was arrested on Wednesday, and his next court date is scheduled for April 8.
NBC News reported that Branham allegedly threatened the Saturday Night Live studio at 30 Rockefeller Center when he allegedly communicated his threat to a college in Connecticut, which subsequently reported the threat to the authorities. The outlet also noted that the threat was not deemed credible.
A representative for Branham declined Entertainment Weekly's request for comment. Representatives for Saturday Night Live did not immediately respond to EW's request for comment.
NBC News also reported that Branham shares the same name and age as a man from whom Scarlett Johansson allegedly requested a restraining order in California. Johansson was denied the restraining order due to a technicality, per court documents reviewed by NBC News.
Johansson is married to SNL's Colin Jost, and sporadically appears on the show as a host and in cameo appearances. She most recently appeared on the show's 50th anniversary special in February.
Representatives for Johansson did not immediately respond to EW's request for comment.SNL has broadcast live from studio 8H at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in midtown Manhattan since its first episode in October 1975. The studio space was also the former home of Last Call with Carson Daly and Later with Bob Costas, and special episodes of 30 Rock, Late Night with David Letterman, and The Apprentice all used 8H for filming.
SNL is currently in the midst of its 50th season on NBC. Jack Black is set to host the show on April 5 with musical guests Elton John and Brandi Carlile. Black first hosted the show in 2002. The following week, Jon Hamm will host the show for the fourth time on April 12, with Lizzo performing as musical guest.

Seth Meyers Has Responded To All Of The News Reports About His Beloved Dog Frisbee's Death Being About How Much Andy Samberg Hated Her

You've probably heard by now that Seth Meyers's beloved Italian Greyhound, Frisbee, died earlier this week at age 14. And, if you had heard this news, then you've also probably seen that Frisbee was embroiled in a lifelong feud with Seth's friend and fellow comic Andy Samberg. Let me explain. Related: Andy's beef with Frisbee first became public in a March 2014 episode of Late Night With Seth Meyers, of which Andy was a guest. During the interview, Seth mentioned his 'adorable dog named Frisbee,' only for Andy to correct him: 'You have a dog.' 'You met my dog when she was basically a two-month-old puppy, and you basically said 'No, thank you,'' Seth then revealed, with Andy explaining: 'Frisbee is a dog, who to me, looks kinda rat-like. And I lived in New York for a long time and don't get down on rats.' 'I believe you told my wife that you had seen rocks that were cuter than Frisbee,' Seth recalled. This feud ended up becoming a running bit, and just this year, Seth said of his pal: 'He really hates my dog, and he's hated my dog since she was little, and now she's 14 years old.' 'Here's a true thing he did,' Seth detailed on his show. 'I sent our Christmas card, Frisbee's in it every year. He scratched out her face like a serial killer, and mailed it back.' 'You might as well have sent me anthrax,' Andy confessed as he pointed out Frisbee wearing a knitted reindeer hat in the photo. 'Look at this piece of shit! I had to hire a cleaning crew 'cuz of all the barf in my house.' 'I've been walking home in New York drunk at four in the morning and seen rats I like more than Frisbee,' he insisted. And even when Andy and Seth's mutual friend Colin Jost was a guest on Late Night in early 2021, Andy spammed him with text messages about Frisbee, which Colin read aloud. Related: 'Also, Frisbee sucks, right?' Colin recited at the time. ''The dog.' He specified the dog. 'Please respond. Spinning out. Need to know you hate Frisbee.'' Over the years, Seth leaned into the feeling being mutual, and even joked that Frisbee had hated Andy's movie Palm Springs. And just last month, Seth teamed up with Amy Poehler to prank Andy with the news that Frisbee had died, with the dog's health declining in recent months. Speaking to Amy before her interview with Andy, Seth told her to tell her guest that she'd tried to speak to him before the recording but couldn't because his dog had passed away. Amy agreed, and in video footage, Andy's face visibly lit up when she told him the sad news. Good Hang / Via 'Don't even play because I'll be so happy,' he told her. 'I will never back off that. That dog sucks, dude! And I know this is a good vibes cast, so I don't even want to bring that energy, but that dog is like a rat carcass.' Related: Sadly, Frisbee actually did die earlier this week, with Seth announcing the news in an Instagram post on Tuesday — one day after Andy's birthday. Sharing a collection of photos of the pup, Seth wrote: 'RIP to Frisbee, our OG IG who I was happy to go grey with. She was at her best curled in your lap and patient when we dressed her up like a pilgrim. Thanks for 14 amazing years, girl.' And, totally unsurprisingly, the vast majority of reactions to Frisbee's death referenced Andy, with one of the top comments on Seth's post reading: 'May her ghost haunt Andy Samberg forever 🙏🏻♥️' 'Does anyone have an alibi for samberg?!' somebody else asked, while another added: 'Andy's birthday wish came true :(' News articles covering Frisbee's death also led with Andy's hatred for the dog, and thankfully, Seth is able to see the funny side of it all amid his grief. Sharing a screenshot of a news headline that reads: 'Frisbee, Seth Meyers's Dog and Andy Samberg's Archenemy, Dies' to his Instagram story, Seth wrote: 'Despite being sad about Frisbee's passing, I can also acknowledge that it's very funny every headline is about how much Samberg hated her guts.' Related: He also quote-tweeted a People news article that read: 'Seth Meyers' Dog Frisbee, Famously Disliked by Andy Samberg, Dies at 14' to point out: 'She also disliked him, FWIW.' 'The Pitt' showrunner introduces new doctor and teases Dr. Langdon's return in season 2 first look (exclusive)

Sepideh Moafi arrives as Dr. Al-Hashimi, an attending who will have some "tension" with Dr. Robby in season 2. A new doctor is clocking into The Pitt — and so is a disgraced one. The Emmy-nominated medical drama's sophomore season — again taking place over the course of one 15-hour shift in the emergency department — takes place on July 4th, 10 months after the events of the season 1 finale. Showrunner R. Scott Gemmill tells Entertainment Weekly that timeline was chosen specifically to bring back Dr. Frank Langdon (Patrick Ball); the season will take place over the course of his first day back after completing rehab. (For those who might need a quick refresher: Langdon was caught stealing medication from the hospital, leading to a blow-out fight with Noah Wyle's Dr. Robby and the revelation of a drug addiction). "It was really driven by wanting to have the Langdon character back and knowing how much time he would've had to spend in rehab and going through his recovery process," Gemmill explains. "We knew it had to be about 10 months, [which] took us into the summer. We played Labor Day, essentially, for the first season, so we decide to play this on the 4th of July." Gemmill acknowledges that most of the other doctors will be well aware of Langdon's drug problem by now — "gossip seems to travel faster than the internet" — but there are some new characters that won't know the extent of what happened. It'll be the first time Langdon and Robby cross paths since their dramatic fallout in season 1. "Let's just say there's a lot of history that has to be resolved between them before they can get back to any kind of normalcy," Gemmill says. One such new character is Dr. Al-Hashimi, played by Black Bird and Generation Q: The L Word star Sepideh Moafi, an attending who arrives at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center from the VA Hospital, where she previously worked with Dr. Mel King (Taylor Dearden) and Dr. Samira Mohan (Supriya Ganesh). "She's gonna be someone who's very progressive in her approach to medicine and believes in the modernization of the medical field," Gemmill says. "And Robby's a little bit more old school and there'll be a little bit of, let's just say, tension as they try and figure out how to work together." He adds, "Robby has a very specific way of how he likes to run his emergency department, and Dr. Al-Hashimi has her own specific ways of how she likes to run an emergency department, and they're not necessarily cohesive." As Robby navigates these tense relationships new and old, he'll also be navigating his mental health, which Gemmill says is the "big through-line of episode 1." According to Gemmill, season 2 is really about Robby "coming to terms" with the post-traumatic stress disorder he picked up during COVID. "One of the things that Robbie has a habit of is, he's very good at telling people what to do, but not necessarily great at taking his own advice," Gemmill says. "He has to come to terms with setting an example, I think, for those who he works with so that he can't tell people to get help and to seek help if he's not doing it himself. So, you know, I think it's a journey of self-discovery for him as well in terms of his own mental health." Robby's journey includes a plan to take some time off, but it might not be so straightforward, Gemmill teases. "There's some questions whether he'll really do it or not, because it's not in his nature to step away from the work." The Pitt season 2 debuts in January 2026.
